1 D espués de estas cosas, Pablo se marchó de Atenas y fue a Corinto.

After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth.

2 Y halló a un judío llamado Aquila, natural del Ponto, recién venido de Italia con Priscila su mujer, por cuanto Claudio había ordenado que todos los judíos saliesen de Roma. Se acercó a ellos,

He found a certain Jew named Aquila, a man of Pontus by race, who had recently come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome. He came to them,

3 y como era del mismo oficio, se quedó con ellos, y trabajaban juntos, pues el oficio de ellos era hacer tiendas.

and because he practiced the same trade, he lived with them and worked, for by trade they were tent makers.

4 Y discutía en la sinagoga todos los sábados, y persuadía a judíos y a griegos.

He reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded Jews and Greeks.

5 Y cuando Silas y Timoteo vinieron de Macedonia, Pablo estaba entregado por entero a la predicación de la palabra, testificando solemnemente a los judíos que Jesús era el Cristo.

But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.

6 P ero oponiéndose y blasfemando ellos, les dijo, sacudiéndose los vestidos: Vuestra sangre sea sobre vuestra propia cabeza; yo soy limpio; desde ahora me iré a los gentiles.

When they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook out his clothing and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on, I will go to the Gentiles!”

7 Y pasando de allí, se fue a la casa de uno llamado Justo, temeroso de Dios, la cual estaba junto a la sinagoga.

He departed there, and went into the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue.

8 Y Crispo, el principal de la sinagoga, creyó en el Señor con toda su casa; y muchos de los corintios, oyendo, creían y eran bautizados.

Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his house. Many of the Corinthians, when they heard, believed and were baptized.

9 E ntonces el Señor dijo a Pablo por medio de una visión en la noche: No temas, sino habla, y no calles;

The Lord said to Paul in the night by a vision, “Don’t be afraid, but speak and don’t be silent;

10 p orque yo estoy contigo, y ninguno pondrá sobre ti la mano para hacerte mal, porque yo tengo mucho pueblo en esta ciudad.

for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many people in this city.”

11 Y se estableció allí por un año y seis meses, enseñándoles la palabra de Dios.

He lived there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

12 P ero siendo Galión procónsul de Acaya, los judíos se levantaron de común acuerdo contra Pablo, y le llevaron al tribunal,

But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgment seat,

13 d iciendo: Éste persuade a los hombres a honrar a Dios contra la ley.

saying, “This man persuades men to worship God contrary to the law.”

14 Y cuando Pablo iba a abrir la boca, Galión dijo a los judíos: Si se tratara de alguna injusticia o de algún crimen depravado, oh judíos, yo os toleraría conforme a derecho.

But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, “If indeed it were a matter of wrong or of wicked crime, you Jews, it would be reasonable that I should bear with you;

15 P ero si son cuestiones de palabras, y de nombres, y de vuestra ley, vedlo vosotros; porque yo no quiero ser juez de estas cosas.

but if they are questions about words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves. For I don’t want to be a judge of these matters.”

16 Y los echó del tribunal.

He drove them from the judgment seat.

17 E ntonces todos los griegos, apoderándose de Sóstenes, principal de la sinagoga, le golpeaban delante del tribunal; pero Galión no hacía caso de nada de esto.

Then all the Greeks laid hold on Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. Gallio didn’t care about any of these things.

18 M as Pablo, habiéndose quedado aún muchos días allí, después se despidió de los hermanos y se embarcó hacia Siria, y con él Priscila y Aquila, habiéndose rapado la cabeza en Cencrea, porque tenía hecho voto.

Paul, having stayed after this many more days, took his leave of the brothers, and sailed from there for Syria, together with Priscilla and Aquila. He shaved his head in Cenchreae, for he had a vow.

19 Y llegó a Éfeso, y a ellos los dejó allí; mas él, entrando en la sinagoga, discutía con los judíos,

He came to Ephesus, and he left them there; but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.

20 l os cuales le rogaban que se quedase con ellos por más tiempo; mas no accedió,

When they asked him to stay with them a longer time, he declined;

21 s ino que se despidió de ellos, diciendo: Es menester que en todo caso yo guarde en Jerusalén la fiesta que viene; pero volveré a vosotros otra vez, si Dios quiere. Y zarpó de Éfeso. Pablo regresa a Antioquía y comienza su tercer viaje misionero

but taking his leave of them, and saying, “I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem, but I will return again to you if God wills,” he set sail from Ephesus.

22 H abiendo arribado a Cesarea, subió para saludar a la iglesia, y luego descendió a Antioquía.

When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the assembly, and went down to Antioch.

23 Y después de estar allí algún tiempo, salió, recorriendo por orden la región de Galacia y de Frigia, fortaleciendo a todos los discípulos. Apolos predica en Éfeso

Having spent some time there, he departed, and went through the region of Galatia, and Phrygia, in order, establishing all the disciples.

24 L legó entonces a Éfeso un judío llamado Apolos, natural de Alejandría, varón elocuente, poderoso en las Escrituras.

Now a certain Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by race, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus. He was mighty in the Scriptures.

25 É ste había sido instruido en el camino del Señor; y siendo de espíritu fervoroso, hablaba y enseñaba diligentemente lo concerniente al Señor, aunque solamente conocía el bautismo de Juan.

This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, although he knew only the baptism of John.

26 Y comenzó a hablar con denuedo en la sinagoga; pero cuando le oyeron Priscila y Aquila, le tomaron aparte y le expusieron más exactamente el camino de Dios.

He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside, and explained to him the way of God more accurately.

27 Y queriendo él pasar a Acaya, los hermanos le animaron, y escribieron a los discípulos que le recibiesen; y llegado él allá, fue de gran provecho a los que por medio de la gracia habían creído;

When he had determined to pass over into Achaia, the brothers encouraged him, and wrote to the disciples to receive him. When he had come, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace;

28 p orque vigorosamente refutaba en público a los judíos, demostrando por medio de las Escrituras que Jesús era el Cristo.

for he powerfully refuted the Jews, publicly showing by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.
