1 V inieron todas las tribus de Israel a David en Hebrón y hablaron, diciendo: Henos aquí, hueso tuyo y carne tuya somos.

Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron, and spoke, saying, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.

2 Y aun antes de ahora, cuando Saúl reinaba sobre nosotros, eras tú quien sacabas a Israel a la guerra, y lo volvías a traer. Además Jehová te ha dicho: Tú apacentarás a mi pueblo Israel, y tú serás príncipe sobre Israel.

In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you who led Israel out and in. Yahweh said to you, ‘You will be shepherd of my people Israel, and you will be prince over Israel.’”

3 V inieron, pues, todos los ancianos de Israel al rey en Hebrón, y el rey David hizo pacto con ellos en Hebrón delante de Jehová; y ungieron a David por rey sobre Israel.

So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron, and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahweh; and they anointed David king over Israel.

4 E ra David de treinta años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó cuarenta años.

David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

5 E n Hebrón reinó sobre Judá siete años y seis meses, y en Jerusalén reinó treinta y tres años sobre todo Israel y Judá. David toma la fortaleza de Sión

In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.

6 E ntonces marchó el rey con sus hombres a Jerusalén contra los jebuseos que moraban en aquella tierra; los cuales hablaron a David, diciendo: Tú no entrarás acá, pues aun los ciegos y los cojos bastan para rechazarte (queriendo decir: David no podrá entrar acá).

The king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, “The blind and the lame will keep you out of here”; thinking, “David can’t come in here.”

7 P ero David tomó la fortaleza de Sión, la cual es la ciudad de David.

Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion. This is David’s city.

8 Y dijo David aquel día: Batiendo al jebuseo por el acueducto, alcanzaréis aun a los ciegos y a los cojos que David aborrece. Por eso se dice: Ni cojo ni ciego entrarán en el Templo.

David said on that day, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites, let him go up to the watercourse and strike the lame and the blind, who are hated by David’s soul.” Therefore they say, “The blind and the lame can’t come into the house.”

9 Y David moró en la fortaleza, y le puso por nombre la Ciudad de David; y edificó alrededor desde Miló hacia dentro.

David lived in the stronghold, and called it David’s city. David built around from Millo and inward.

10 Y David iba adelantando y engrandeciéndose, y Jehová Dios de los ejércitos estaba con él. Hiram envía embajadores a David

David grew greater and greater; for Yahweh, the God of Armies, was with him.

11 T ambién Hiram rey de Tiro envió embajadores a David, y madera de cedro, y carpinteros, y canteros para los muros, los cuales edificaron la casa de David.

Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, with cedar trees, carpenters, and masons; and they built David a house.

12 Y entendió David que Jehová le había confirmado por rey sobre Israel, y que había engrandecido su reino por amor de su pueblo Israel. Hijos de David nacidos en Jerusalén

David perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.

13 Y tomó David más concubinas y mujeres de Jerusalén, después que vino de Hebrón, y le nacieron más hijos e hijas.

David took more concubines and wives for himself out of Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron; and more sons and daughters were born to David.

14 E stos son los nombres de los que le nacieron en Jerusalén: Samúa, Sobab, Natán, Salomón,

These are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,

15 I bhar, Elisúa, Nefeg, Jafía,

Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia,

16 E lisamá, Eliadá y Elifélet. David derrota a los filisteos

Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet.

17 O yendo los filisteos que David había sido ungido por rey sobre Israel, subieron todos los filisteos para buscar a David; y cuando David lo oyó, descendió a la fortaleza.

When the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David, but David heard about it and went down to the stronghold.

18 Y vinieron los filisteos, y se extendieron por el valle de Refaím.

Now the Philistines had come and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

19 E ntonces consultó David a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Iré contra los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mi mano? Y Jehová respondió a David: Ve, porque ciertamente entregaré a los filisteos en tu mano.

David inquired of Yahweh, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?” Yahweh said to David, “Go up; for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into your hand.”

20 Y vino David a Baal-perazim, y allí los venció David, y dijo: Quebrantó Jehová a mis enemigos delante de mí, como corriente impetuosa. Por esto llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Baal-perazim.

David came to Baal Perazim, and David struck them there. Then he said, “Yahweh has broken my enemies before me, like the breach of waters.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.

21 Y dejaron allí sus ídolos, y David y sus hombres los quemaron.

They left their images there; and David and his men took them away.

22 Y los filisteos volvieron a venir, y se extendieron en el valle de Refaím.

The Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

23 Y consultando David a Jehová, él le respondió: No subas, sino rodéalos, y vendrás a ellos enfrente de las balsameras.

When David inquired of Yahweh, he said, “You shall not go up. Circle around behind them, and attack them in front of the mulberry trees.

24 Y cuando oigas ruido como de pasos en la cima de las balsameras, entonces te moverás; porque Jehová saldrá delante de ti a herir el campamento de los filisteos.

When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then stir yourself up; for then Yahweh has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”

25 Y David lo hizo así, como Jehová se lo había mandado; e hirió a los filisteos desde Geba hasta llegar a Gézer.

David did so, as Yahweh commanded him, and struck the Philistines all the way from Geba to Gezer.
