1 D espués de esto vi a otro ángel descender del cielo con gran potestad; y la tierra fue alumbrada con su resplandor.

After these things, I saw another angel coming down out of the sky, having great authority. The earth was illuminated with his glory.

2 Y clamó con voz potente, diciendo: Cayó, cayó la gran Babilonia, y se ha hecho habitación de demonios y guarida de todo espíritu inmundo, y albergue de toda ave inmunda y aborrecible.

He cried with a mighty voice, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, and she has become a habitation of demons, a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird!

3 P orque todas las naciones han bebido del vino del ardor de su fornicación; y los reyes de la tierra han fornicado con ella, y los mercaderes de la tierra se han enriquecido de la potencia de sus deleites.

For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her sexual immorality, the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from the abundance of her luxury.”

4 Y oí otra voz del cielo, que decía: Salid de ella, pueblo mío, para que no seáis partícipes de sus pecados, ni recibáis nada procedente de sus plagas;

I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, that you have no participation in her sins, and that you don’t receive of her plagues,

5 p orque sus pecados se han amontonado hasta el cielo, y Dios se ha acordado de sus maldades.

for her sins have reached to the sky, and God has remembered her iniquities.

6 D adle a ella como ella os ha dado, y pagadle doble según sus obras; en la copa en que ella preparó bebida, preparadle a ella el doble.

Return to her just as she returned, and repay her double as she did, and according to her works. In the cup which she mixed, mix to her double.

7 E n proporción a lo que ella se ha glorificado y ha vivido en deleites, dadle así también de tormento y duelo; porque dice en su corazón: Yo estoy sentada como reina, y no soy viuda, y nunca jamás veré duelo;

However much she glorified herself, and grew wanton, so much give her of torment and mourning. For she says in her heart, ‘I sit a queen, and am no widow, and will in no way see mourning.’

8 p or eso, en un solo día vendrán sus plagas; muerte, duelo y hambre, y será quemada con fuego; porque poderoso es Dios el Señor, que la ha sentenciado.

Therefore in one day her plagues will come: death, mourning, and famine; and she will be utterly burned with fire; for the Lord God who has judged her is strong.

9 Y los reyes de la tierra que han fornicado con ella, y con ella han vivido en deleites, llorarán y harán lamentación sobre ella, cuando vean el humo de su incendio,

The kings of the earth, who committed sexual immorality and lived wantonly with her, will weep and wail over her, when they look at the smoke of her burning,

10 p arándose lejos por el temor de su tormento, diciendo: ¡Ay, ay de la gran ciudad de Babilonia, la ciudad fuerte; porque en una hora vino tu juicio!

standing far away for the fear of her torment, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For your judgment has come in one hour.’

11 Y los mercaderes de la tierra lloran y hacen lamentación sobre ella, porque ninguno compra más sus mercancías;

The merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise any more;

12 c argamentos de oro, de plata, de piedras preciosas, de perlas, de lino fino, de púrpura, de seda, de escarlata, de toda madera olorosa, de todo objeto de marfil, de todo objeto de madera preciosa, de cobre, de hierro y de mármol;

merchandise of gold, silver, precious stones, pearls, fine linen, purple, silk, scarlet, all expensive wood, every vessel of ivory, every vessel made of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble;

13 y canela, especias aromáticas, incienso, mirra, olíbano, vino, aceite, flor de harina, trigo, bestias de carga, ovejas, caballos, carros, esclavos, y vidas humanas.

and cinnamon, incense, perfume, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine flour, wheat, sheep, horses, chariots, and people’s bodies and souls.

14 L os frutos codiciados por tu alma se apartaron de ti, y todas las cosas exquisitas y espléndidas han desaparecido de ti, y nunca más las hallarás.

The fruits which your soul lusted after have been lost to you, and all things that were dainty and sumptuous have perished from you, and you will find them no more at all.

15 L os mercaderes de estas cosas, que se han enriquecido a costa de ella, se pararán lejos por el temor de su tormento, llorando y lamentándose,

The merchants of these things, who were made rich by her, will stand far away for the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning;

16 y diciendo: ¡Ay, ay de la gran ciudad, que estaba cubierta de lino fino, de púrpura y de escarlata, y estaba adornada de oro, de piedras preciosas y de perlas!

saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, she who was dressed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls!

17 P orque en una hora han sido consumidas tantas riquezas. Y todo piloto, y todos los que viajan en naves, y marineros, y todos los que trabajan en el mar, se pararon lejos;

For in an hour such great riches are made desolate.’ Every ship master, and everyone who sails anywhere, and mariners, and as many as gain their living by sea, stood far away,

18 y viendo el humo de su incendio, gritaron, diciendo: ¿Qué ciudad era semejante a esta gran ciudad?

and cried out as they looked at the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What is like the great city?’

19 Y echaron polvo sobre sus cabezas, y gritaron, llorando y lamentándose, diciendo: ¡Ay, ay de la gran ciudad, en la cual todos los que tenían naves en el mar se habían enriquecido de sus riquezas; pues en una hora ha sido desolada!

They cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had their ships in the sea were made rich by reason of her great wealth!’ For she is made desolate in one hour.

20 A légrate sobre ella, cielo, y vosotros, santos, apóstoles y profetas; porque Dios ha pronunciado juicio a vuestro favor contra ella.

“Rejoice over her, O heaven, you saints, apostles, and prophets; for God has judged your judgment on her.”

21 Y un ángel poderoso tomó una piedra, como una gran piedra de molino, y la arrojó al mar, diciendo: Con el mismo ímpetu será derribada Babilonia, la gran ciudad, y nunca más será hallada.

A mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and cast it into the sea, saying, “Thus with violence will Babylon, the great city, be thrown down, and will be found no more at all.

22 Y sonido de arpistas, de músicos, de flautistas y de trompeteros no se oirá ya más en ti; y ningún artífice de ningún oficio se hallará más en ti, ni ruido de molino se oirá más en ti.

The voice of harpists, minstrels, flute players, and trumpeters will be heard no more at all in you. No craftsman, of whatever craft, will be found any more at all in you. The sound of a mill will be heard no more at all in you.

23 L uz de lámpara no alumbrará más en ti, y la voz del novio y de la novia no se oirá ya más en ti; porque tus mercaderes eran los magnates de la tierra; pues por tus hechicerías fueron engañadas todas las naciones.

The light of a lamp will shine no more at all in you. The voice of the bridegroom and of the bride will be heard no more at all in you; for your merchants were the princes of the earth; for with your sorcery all the nations were deceived.

24 Y en ella se halló la sangre de los profetas y de los santos, y de todos los que han sido degollados sobre la tierra.

In her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been slain on the earth.”
