1 ¶ And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there,
The third day, there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there.
2 a nd Jesus and his disciples were also called to the marriage.
Jesus also was invited, with his disciples, to the marriage.
3 A nd being short of wine, the mother of Jesus said unto him, They have no wine.
When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no wine.”
4 J esus said unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? My hour is not yet come.
Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does that have to do with you and me? My hour has not yet come.”
5 H is mother said unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
His mother said to the servants, “Whatever he says to you, do it.”
6 A nd there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
Now there were six water pots of stone set there after the Jews’ way of purifying, containing two or three metretes apiece.
7 J esus said unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
Jesus said to them, “Fill the water pots with water.” They filled them up to the brim.
8 A nd he said unto them, Draw out now and bear unto the butler. And they bore it.
He said to them, “Now draw some out, and take it to the ruler of the feast.” So they took it.
9 W hen the butler had tasted the water that was made wine and knew not where it was from (but the servants who drew the water knew), the butler called the bridegroom
When the ruler of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and didn’t know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the ruler of the feast called the bridegroom,
10 a nd said unto him, Every man at the beginning sets forth the good wine, and when they are well satisfied, then that which is worse; but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when the guests have drunk freely, then that which is worse. You have kept the good wine until now!”
11 T his beginning of the signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee and manifested forth his glory, and his disciples believed on him.

12 ¶ After this he went down to Capernaum, he and his mother and his brethren and his disciples, and they continued there not many days.

13 A nd passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem

14 a nd found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers seated;

15 a nd when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers’ money and overthrew the tables
He made a whip of cords, and threw all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew their tables.
16 a nd said unto those that sold the doves, Take these things away from here; do not make my Father’s house a house of merchandise.
To those who sold the doves, he said, “Take these things out of here! Don’t make my Father’s house a marketplace!”
17 T hen his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house has consumed me.
His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will eat me up.”
18 T hen the Jews answered and said unto him, What sign showest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
The Jews therefore answered him, “What sign do you show us, seeing that you do these things?”
19 J esus answered and said unto them, Dissolve this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
20 T hen said the Jews, This temple was forty-six years in building, and wilt thou raise it up in three days?
The Jews therefore said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple! Will you raise it up in three days?”
21 B ut he spoke of the temple of his body.

22 T herefore when he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture and the word which Jesus had said.

25 a nd needed not that any man should give testimony, for he knew what was in man.
