1 ¶ And Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and his disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple.
Jesus went out from the temple, and was going on his way. His disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple.
2 A nd Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down.
But he answered them, “You see all of these things, don’t you? Most certainly I tell you, there will not be left here one stone on another, that will not be thrown down.”
3 A nd as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming and of the end of the age?
As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? What is the sign of your coming, and of the end of the age?”
4 ¶ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no one deceive you.
Jesus answered them, “Be careful that no one leads you astray.
5 F or many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and shall deceive many.
For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will lead many astray.
6 A nd ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars; see that ye be not troubled, for it is necessary that all these things must take place; but the end is not yet.
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren’t troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet.
7 F or nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in different places.
For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places.
8 A ll these are the beginning of sorrows.
But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.
9 T hen they shall deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you, and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
Then they will deliver you up to oppression, and will kill you. You will be hated by all of the nations for my name’s sake.
10 A nd then shall many be offended and shall betray one another and shall hate one another.
Then many will stumble, and will deliver up one another, and will hate one another.
11 A nd many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many.
Many false prophets will arise, and will lead many astray.
12 A nd because lawlessness shall abound, the charity of many shall wax cold.
Because iniquity will be multiplied, the love of many will grow cold.
13 B ut he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
But he who endures to the end, the same will be saved.
14 A nd this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations, and then shall the end come.
This Good News of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.
15 T herefore, when ye see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, which shall stand in the holy place (whosoever reads, let him understand),
“When, therefore, you see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),
16 t hen let those who are in Judaea flee into the mountains;
then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
17 l et him who is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house,
Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take out things that are in his house.
18 n either let him who is in the field return back to take his clothes.
Let him who is in the field not return back to get his clothes.
19 A nd woe unto those that are with child and to those that give suck in those days!
But woe to those who are with child and to nursing mothers in those days!
20 B ut pray ye that your flight be not in the winter neither on the sabbath day,
Pray that your flight will not be in the winter, nor on a Sabbath,
21 f or then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
for then there will be great oppression, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever will be.
22 A nd if those days were not shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
Unless those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved. But for the sake of the chosen ones, those days will be shortened.
23 T hen if any man shall say unto you, Behold, here is the Christ, or there, believe it not.
“Then if any man tells you, ‘Behold, here is the Christ,’ or, ‘There,’ don’t believe it.
24 F or there shall arise false Christs and false prophets and shall show great signs and wonders in such a manner that they shall deceive, if possible, the very elect.
For there will arise false christs, and false prophets, and they will show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones.
25 B ehold, I have told you before.
“Behold, I have told you beforehand.
26 T herefore if they say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert, go not forth; Behold, he is in the secret chambers, believe it not.
If therefore they tell you, ‘Behold, he is in the wilderness,’ don’t go out; ‘Behold, he is in the inner rooms,’ don’t believe it.
27 F or as the lightning that comes out of the east and shines even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
For as the lightning flashes from the east, and is seen even to the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
28 F or wherever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
For wherever the carcass is, there is where the vultures gather together.
29 I mmediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken,
But immediately after the oppression of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken;
30 a nd then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with great power and glory.
and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky. Then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.
31 A nd he shall send his angels with a trumpet and a great voice, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
He will send out his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together his chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.
32 ¶ Now learn a parable of the fig tree: When his branch is yet tender and puts forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh;
“Now from the fig tree learn this parable. When its branch has now become tender, and produces its leaves, you know that the summer is near.
33 s o likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
Even so you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
34 V erily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass until all these things are fulfilled.
Most certainly I tell you, this generation will not pass away, until all these things are accomplished.
35 T he heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
36 B ut of that day and hour no one knows, no, not even the angels of the heavens, but my Father only.
But no one knows of that day and hour, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37 B ut as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
“As the days of Noah were, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
38 F or as they were in the days before the flood, eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,
For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ship,
39 a nd they knew not until the flood came and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
and they didn’t know until the flood came, and took them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
40 T hen shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left.
Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and one will be left;
41 T wo women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken and the other left.
two women grinding at the mill, one will be taken and one will be left.
42 W atch therefore, for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
Watch therefore, for you don’t know in what hour your Lord comes.
43 B ut know this that if the husband of the house knew in what watch the thief would come, he would watch and would not suffer his house to be broken into.
But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.
44 T herefore be ye also ready; the Son of man is to come in the hour that ye think not.
Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you don’t expect, the Son of Man will come.
45 W ho then is the faithful and prudent slave, whom his lord has made ruler over his household to give them food in due season?
“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has set over his household, to give them their food in due season?
46 B lessed is that slave whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing.
Blessed is that servant whom his lord finds doing so when he comes.
47 V erily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
Most certainly I tell you that he will set him over all that he has.
48 B ut and if that evil slave shall say in his heart, My lord delays his coming,
But if that evil servant should say in his heart, ‘My lord is delaying his coming,’
49 a nd shall begin to smite his fellowslaves and even to eat and drink with the drunken,
and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with the drunkards,
50 t he lord of that slave shall come in a day when he does not look for him and in an hour that he is not aware of
the lord of that servant will come in a day when he doesn’t expect it, and in an hour when he doesn’t know it,
51 a nd shall cut him off and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
and will cut him in pieces, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites. There is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.
