1 P raise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Lăudaţi-L pe Domnul! Daţi mulţumire Domnului, căci este bun! Îndurarea Lui ţine pe vecie!

2 W ho can utter the mighty acts of the Lord ? who can shew forth all his praise?

Cine poate spune toate isprăvile Domnului ? Cine poate vesti toată lauda Sa?

3 B lessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

Ferice de cei care păzesc ce este drept şi care înfăptuiesc dreptatea tot timpul.

4 R emember me, O Lord, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;

Adu-Ţi aminte de mine, Doamne, în bunăvoinţa Ta faţă de poporul Tău! Apropie-Te de mine cu mântuirea Ta,

5 T hat I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.

ca să văd bunăstarea aleşilor Tăi, să mă bucur de bucuria poporului Tău şi să Te laud împreună cu moştenirea Ta.

6 W e have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.

Noi am păcătuit ca şi strămoşii noştri, am săvârşit nelegiuire, am făcut rău.

7 O ur fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.

În timp ce erau în Egipt, strămoşii noştri nu au luat aminte la minunile Tale; nu au ţinut minte mulţimea îndurărilor Tale şi s-au răzvrătit când au ajuns la mare, la Marea Roşie.

8 N evertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.

El i-a izbăvit din pricina Numelui Său, ca să-Şi descopere puterea Sa.

9 H e rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

A mustrat Marea Roşie şi aceasta s-a uscat; apoi i-a condus prin adâncuri sterpe ca pustia.

10 A nd he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

I-a izbăvit din mâna celui ce-i ura şi i-a răscumpărat din mâna duşmanului.

11 A nd the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.

Apele i-au acoperit pe potrivnicii lor, fără ca vreunul din ei să scape.

12 T hen believed they his words; they sang his praise.

Atunci I-au crezut cuvintele şi I-au cântat laudă.

13 T hey soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:

Dar au uitat curând lucrările Lui; ei nu I-au aşteptat sfatul.

14 B ut lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.

Li s-au aprins poftele în pustie şi L-au ispitit pe Dumnezeu în pustietăţi.

15 A nd he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

El le-a dat ce ceruseră, dar a trimis o boală nimicitoare peste ei.

16 T hey envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the Lord.

Unii din tabără au fost geloşi pe Moise şi pe Aaron, cel sfinţit Domnului.

17 T he earth opened and swallowed up Dathan and covered the company of Abiram.

Pământul s-a deschis, l-a înghiţit pe Datan şi a acoperit ceata lui Abiram.

18 A nd a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.

Focul le-a consumat ceata; flăcările i-au mistuit pe cei răi.

19 T hey made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.

La Horeb şi-au făcut un viţel şi s-au închinat chipului turnat.

20 T hus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.

Au schimbat Slava lor cu chipul unui bou care mănâncă iarbă.

21 T hey forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;

L-au uitat pe Dumnezeu, Izbăvitorul lor, pe Cel Ce făcuse mari lucrări în Egipt,

22 W ondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.

pe Cel Ce înfăptuise minuni în ţara lui Ham şi lucruri înfricoşătoare la Marea Roşie.

23 T herefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

Astfel El a spus că o să-i nimicească, însă Moise, alesul Său, a stat în spărtură înaintea Lui, ca să-I abată mânia de la nimicire.

24 Y ea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:

Apoi au respins ţara cea plăcută; ei nu au crezut în promisiunea Lui.

25 B ut murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the Lord.

Au cârtit în corturile lor şi nu au ascultat de glasul Domnului.

26 T herefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:

Atunci, El a jurat solemn că îi va face să cadă în pustie,

27 T o overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.

că le va face urmaşii să cadă printre neamuri şi-i va împrăştia printre popoare.

28 T hey joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.

S-au alipit de Baal-Peor şi au mâncat jertfe închinate morţilor.

29 T hus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.

L-au mâniat prin faptele lor, astfel încât o urgie a izbucnit printre ei.

30 T hen stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.

Dar s-a ridicat Fineas, a făcut judecată şi urgia s-a oprit.

31 A nd that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.

Lucrul acesta i-a fost socotit dreptate, din generaţie în generaţie, pe vecie.

32 T hey angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:

L-au mâniat pe Dumnezeu şi la apele Meriba, iar din pricina lor i-a mers rău şi lui Moise.

33 B ecause they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.

Căci s-au răzvrătit împotriva Duhului Său, iar Moise a vorbit necugetat cu buzele lui.

34 T hey did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the Lord commanded them:

Ei nu au nimicit popoarele despre care le spusese Domnul,

35 B ut were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.

ci s-au amestecat cu neamurile şi s-au deprins cu faptele acestora.

36 A nd they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.

Au slujit idolilor lor, iar aceştia au devenit o cursă pentru ei.

37 Y ea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,

Şi-au jertfit fiii şi fiicele în cinstea demonilor.

38 A nd shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.

Au vărsat sânge nevinovat, sângele fiilor şi al fiicelor lor, jertfindu-i idolilor din Canaan, şi au spurcat ţara din pricina sângelui.

39 T hus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.

S-au întinat prin faptele lor, s-au desfrânat prin lucrările lor.

40 T herefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.

Atunci s-a aprins mânia Domnului împotriva poporului Său şi Şi-a urât moştenirea.

41 A nd he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.

I-a dat pe mâna neamurilor şi astfel cei ce îi urau au stăpânit peste ei.

42 T heir enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.

Duşmanii lor i-au asuprit şi au fost umiliţi sub mâna lor.

43 M any times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.

El i-a scăpat de multe ori, dar ei se răzvrăteau prin planurile lor. S-au nenorocit prin nelegiuirea lor.

44 N evertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:

El a privit la strâmtorarea lor când le-a auzit strigătele.

45 A nd he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.

Din pricina lor Şi-a adus aminte de legământul Lui. I s-a făcut milă de ei din pricina marii Sale îndurări

46 H e made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.

şi a făcut ca aceştia să capete milă din partea tuturor celor ce-i luaseră captivi.

47 S ave us, O Lord our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.

Doamne, Dumnezeul nostru, izbăveşte-ne! Strânge-ne dintre neamuri ca să lăudăm Numele Tău cel sfânt şi să ne fălim aducându-Ţi laudă.

48 B lessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the Lord.

Binecuvântat să fie Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, din veşnicie în veşnicie! Tot poporul să zică: „Amin!“ Laudă Domnului!
