1 P lead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.

Răfuieşte-te, Doamne, cu cei ce se răfuiesc cu mine! Luptă-te cu cei ce se luptă cu mine!

2 T ake hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.

Înarmează-Te cu scut şi cu pavăză! Ridică-Te, ca să-mi ajuţi!

3 D raw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.

Dezveleşte-Ţi suliţa şi lancea pentru prigonitorii mei! Grăieşte sufletului meu: „Eu sunt mântuirea ta!“

4 L et them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.

Să fie ruşinaţi şi umiliţi cei ce caută să-mi ia viaţa; să dea înapoi, să fie făcuţi de ruşine cei ce-mi plănuiau răul!

5 L et them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the Lord chase them.

Să fie ca pleava luată de vânt şi să-i izgonească îngerul Domnului!

6 L et their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the Lord persecute them.

Întunecoasă şi alunecoasă să le fie calea, iar îngerul Domnului să-i urmărească!

7 F or without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.

Fără nici un motiv mi-au întins pe ascuns un laţ, fără nici un motiv au săpat o groapă sufletului meu.

8 L et destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.

De aceea să-i ajungă prăpădul pe neaşteptate şi să fie prinşi în laţul pe care l-au întins pe ascuns pentru mine; să cadă în el în timpul prăpădului.

9 A nd my soul shall be joyful in the Lord: it shall rejoice in his salvation.

Atunci sufletul meu se va bucura în Domnul, mă voi veseli de mântuirea Lui.

10 A ll my bones shall say, Lord, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?

Întreaga-mi fiinţă va exclama: „ Doamne, cine este ca Tine, Care să-l scape pe cel sărac de cel mai tare decât el, pe cel sărac şi pe cel sărman – de jefuitorul lui?“

11 F alse witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.

Nişte martori dezlănţuiţi se ridică şi mă întreabă de ceea ce nu ştiu.

12 T hey rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.

Astfel ei îmi răsplătesc cu rău pentru bine şi îmi pustiesc sufletul.

13 B ut as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

Eu însă, când ei erau bolnavi, mă îmbrăcam cu sac şi îmi smeream sufletul prin post; iar când rugăciunile îmi rămâneau fără răspuns,

14 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.

ca un prieten, ba mai mult, ca un frate, umblam bocind, ca unul care-şi boceşte mama, cu capul plecat, cuprins de întristare.

15 B ut in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:

Acum însă, când eu mă împiedic, ei se bucură şi se adună, se adună împotriva mea, lovindu-mă pe ascuns, sfâşiindu -mă fără încetare.

16 W ith hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

Ca nişte bufoni batjocoritori scrâşnesc din dinţi împotriva mea!

17 L ord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.

Stăpâne, cât vei mai privi? Scapă-mi sufletul de pustiirile lor, şi preţioasa mea viaţă – de puii aceştia de lei!

18 I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people.

Apoi Te voi lăuda în adunarea cea mare, Te voi onora în mijlocul unui norod fără număr.

19 L et not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.

Să nu se bucure de mine cei ce mă duşmănesc pe nedrept şi să nu tragă cu ochiul cei ce mă urăsc fără motiv!

20 F or they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.

Căci ei nu vorbesc de pace, ci urzesc înşelătorii împotriva oamenilor liniştiţi din ţară.

21 Y ea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.

Vorbesc împotriva mea, zicând: „Ha! Ha! Ochii noştri şi-au văzut dorinţa împlinită!“

22 T his thou hast seen, O Lord: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.

Doamne, Tu ai văzut; nu tăcea! Stăpâne, nu Te depărta de mine!

23 S tir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.

Ridică-Te, trezeşte-Te pentru apărarea mea, apără-mi pricina, Dumnezeul meu şi Stăpânul meu!

24 J udge me, O Lord my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.

Judecă-mă după dreptatea Ta, Doamne, Dumnezeul meu! Nu-i lăsa să se bucure de mine!

25 L et them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.

Nici măcar să nu gândească: „Aha! Ce bine!“ Să nu zică: „L-am înghiţit!“

26 L et them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.

Să fie făcuţi de ruşine şi de râs cei ce se bucură de necazul meu! Cu ruşine şi cu dezonoare să se îmbrace cei ce se ridică împotriva mea!

27 L et them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

Să strige de veselie şi să se bucure cei ce îndrăgesc dreptatea mea, cei se spun întotdeauna: „Mărit fie Domnul Care doreşte pacea robului Său!“

28 A nd my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.

Atunci limba mea va vesti dreptatea Ta şi lauda Ta toată ziua!
