1 M anasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hephzibah.

Manase era în vârstă de doisprezece ani când a devenit rege şi a domnit la Ierusalim timp de cincizeci şi cinci de ani. Mama sa se numea Hefţi-Ba.

2 A nd he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, after the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out before the children of Israel.

El a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului, luându-se după practicile scârboase ale neamurilor pe care Domnul le izgonise dinaintea israeliţilor.

3 F or he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal, and made a grove, as did Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.

A rezidit înălţimile pe care le distrusese tatăl său, Ezechia, a ridicat altare lui Baal, a făcut un stâlp al Aşerei, cum făcuse Ahab, regele lui Israel, şi s-a închinat înaintea întregii oştiri a cerurilor şi i-a slujit.

4 A nd he built altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.

A zidit altare în Casa Domnului, despre care Domnul spusese: „În Ierusalim Îmi voi pune Numele.“

5 A nd he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord.

A zidit altare întregii oştiri a cerurilor, în cele două curţi ale Casei Domnului.

6 A nd he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.

Şi-a trecut fiul prin foc, s-a îndeletnicit cu descântatul şi cu ghicitul, a apelat la cei ce cheamă duhurile morţilor şi la descântători. El a făcut mult rău în ochii Domnului, mâniindu-L.

7 A nd he set a graven image of the grove that he had made in the house, of which the Lord said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:

A luat idolul Aşerei, pe care îl făcuse şi l-a pus în Casa Domnului, despre care Domnul îi spusese lui David şi lui Solomon, fiul acestuia: „În Casa aceasta şi în Ierusalim, pe care l-am ales dintre toate cetăţile seminţiilor lui Israel, Îmi voi pune Numele pe vecie.

8 N either will I make the feet of Israel move any more out of the land which I gave their fathers; only if they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.

Nu voi mai face ca picioarele lui Israel să rătăcească afară din ţara pe care le-am dat-o strămoşilor lor, dacă vor avea grijă să împlinească tot ce le-am poruncit, potrivit cu toată Legea pe care le-a dat-o robul Meu Moise.“

9 B ut they hearkened not: and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than did the nations whom the Lord destroyed before the children of Israel.

Dar ei n-au ascultat şi Manase i-a dus în rătăcire, astfel că ei au făcut mai mult rău decât toate neamurile pe care le nimicise Domnul dinaintea israeliţilor.

10 A nd the Lord spake by his servants the prophets, saying,

Atunci Domnul a vorbit prin robii Săi, profeţii, astfel:

11 B ecause Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations, and hath done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, which were before him, and hath made Judah also to sin with his idols:

„Manase, regele lui Iuda, a săvârşit aceste urâciuni, a făcut mai mult rău decât tot ce făcuseră amoriţii înainte de el şi l-a făcut şi pe Iuda să păcătuiască prin idolii lui.

12 T herefore thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle.

De aceea aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel: «Voi aduce o nenorocire peste Ierusalim şi peste Iuda, care va asurzi urechile oricui va auzi de ea.»

13 A nd I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab: and I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish, wiping it, and turning it upside down.

Voi întinde peste Ierusalim funia folosită împotriva Samariei şi firul de plumb folosit împotriva familiei lui Ahab. Voi curăţi Ierusalimul cum curăţă cineva o farfurie, ştergând-o şi întorcând-o cu faţa în jos.

14 A nd I will forsake the remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies;

Voi părăsi rămăşiţa moştenirii Mele şi o voi da în mâinile duşmanilor ei; va ajunge de jaful şi prada duşmanilor ei

15 B ecause they have done that which was evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even unto this day.

pentru că a făcut ce este rău înaintea Mea şi M-a mâniat, din ziua în care strămoşii ei au ieşit din Egipt şi până în ziua aceasta.“

16 M oreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin wherewith he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the Lord.

De asemenea, Manase a umplut Ierusalimul de la un capăt la celălalt cu sângele nevinovat pe care l-a vărsat, în afară de păcatul de a-l fi făcut pe Iuda să păcătuiască şi să săvârşească ce este rău înaintea Domnului.

17 N ow the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he sinned, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

Celelalte fapte ale lui Manase, tot ce a făcut el şi păcatele pe care le-a săvârşit, nu sunt scrise oare în „Cartea cronicilor regilor lui Iuda“?

18 A nd Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.

Manase s-a culcat alături de părinţii săi şi a fost înmormântat în grădina palatului său, în Grădina lui Uza. În locul lui a domnit fiul său Amon. Domnia lui Amon peste Iuda

19 A mon was twenty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Meshullemeth, the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.

Amon era în vârstă de douăzeci şi doi de ani când a devenit rege şi a domnit la Ierusalim timp de doi ani. Mama sa se numea Meşulemet şi era fiica lui Haruţ din Iotba.

20 A nd he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, as his father Manasseh did.

El a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului, la fel cum făcuse tatăl său Manase.

21 A nd he walked in all the way that his father walked in, and served the idols that his father served, and worshipped them:

A umblat în toate căile în care umblase şi tatăl său, slujind şi închinându-se idolilor cărora le slujise şi Manase.

22 A nd he forsook the Lord God of his fathers, and walked not in the way of the Lord.

L-a părăsit pe Domnul, Dumnezeul strămoşilor săi, şi nu a umblat pe Calea Domnului.

23 A nd the servants of Amon conspired against him, and slew the king in his own house.

Slujitorii lui Amon au uneltit împotriva lui şi l-au ucis pe rege în palat,

24 A nd the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.

dar poporul ţării i-a omorât pe toţi aceia care uneltiseră împotriva regelui Amon. Apoi, în locul lui Amon, poporul ţării l-a făcut rege pe fiul acestuia, Iosia.

25 N ow the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

Celelalte fapte pe care le-a făcut Amon, nu sunt scrise oare în „Cartea cronicilor regilor lui Iuda“?

26 A nd he was buried in his sepulchre in the garden of Uzza: and Josiah his son reigned in his stead.

El a fost înmormântat în mormântul său, în Grădina lui Uza, iar în locul lui a domnit fiul său Iosia.
