1 B ut Job answered and said,

Iov a răspuns:

2 H ow hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength?

„Ce bine l-ai ajutat tu pe cel fără putere! Ce bine ai sprijinit tu braţul fără tărie!

3 H ow hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is?

Ce sfaturi bune ai dat tu celui lipsit de înţelepciune! Ce multă înţelegere i-ai arătat!

4 T o whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?

Cui i se datorează aceste cuvinte? A cui suflare a ieşit din tine?

5 D ead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.

Cei din tărâmul umbrelor tremură, cei de sub ape şi locuitorii lor.

6 H ell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.

Locuinţa Morţilor este goală înaintea lui Dumnezeu, iar Locul Nimicirii nu este acoperit.

7 H e stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

El întinde nordul asupra golului şi atârnă pământul pe nimic.

8 H e bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.

El leagă apele în nori groşi, iar norii nu se rup de greutatea lor.

9 H e holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.

El acoperă faţa tronului Său, întinzându-Şi norii peste el.

10 H e hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.

El a însemnat o boltă deasupra apelor, la marginea dintre lumină şi întuneric.

11 T he pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.

Stâlpii cerului se clatină şi se înspăimântă la mustrarea Sa.

12 H e divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.

Prin puterea Lui a potolit marea şi prin priceperea Lui l-a zdrobit pe Rahab.

13 B y his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.

Suflarea Lui înseninează cerul, mâna Lui străpunge şarpele fugar.

14 L o, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?

Acestea sunt doar marginile căilor Sale şi numai o adiere uşoară auzim de la El. Dar cine poate înţelege tunetul puterii Sale?“
