1 D eliver me, O Lord, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;

Izbăveşte-mă, Doamne, de oamenii răi, păzeşte-mă de oamenii violenţi,

2 W hich imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.

de cei ce plănuiesc lucruri rele în inima lor şi stârnesc conflicte în fiecare zi.

3 T hey have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.

Ei îşi fac limba ascuţită ca a unui şarpe şi sub buzele lor este venin de viperă! Sela

4 K eep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.

Păzeşte-mă, Doamne, de mâinile celui rău! Protejează-mă de omul violent, de cel ce se gândeşte cum să pună piedică paşilor mei!

5 T he proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.

Nişte îngâmfaţi mi-au ascuns curse, şi-au întins funiile laţului lor, mi-au pus capcane pe marginea potecii! Sela

6 I said unto the Lord, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O Lord.

Eu însă zic Domnului: „Tu eşti Dumnezeul meu! Ascultă, Doamne, glasul rugilor mele!

7 O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.

Stăpâne Doamne, Mântuitorul meu puternic, Care mi-ai protejat capul în ziua luptei –

8 G rant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.

nu împlini, Doamne, dorinţele celui rău; nu îngădui să-i reuşească planurile, ca să nu se fălească!“ Sela

9 A s for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

Capul celor ce mă înconjoară să fie acoperit de necazul provocat de buzele lor!

10 L et burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.

Să cadă peste ei cărbuni aprinşi; să fie aruncaţi în foc, în adâncuri de unde să nu se mai scoale.

11 L et not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

Fie ca oamenii limbuţi să nu fie întăriţi în ţară; fie ca pe oamenii violenţi şi răi să-i vâneze şi să-i doboare dezastrul.

12 I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.

Ştiu că Domnul va face dreptate celui necăjit şi susţine cauza celor nevoiaţi.

13 S urely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.

Într-adevăr, cei drepţi vor lăuda Numele Tău, iar oamenii integri vor locui în prezenţa Ta.
