1 P raise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

¡Aleluya! Dad gracias al Señor, porque es bueno; porque para siempre es su misericordia.

2 W ho can utter the mighty acts of the Lord ? who can shew forth all his praise?

¿Quién puede relatar los poderosos hechos del Señor, o expresar toda su alabanza?

3 B lessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

Bienaventurados los que guardan el juicio, los que practican la justicia en todo tiempo.

4 R emember me, O Lord, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;

Acuérdate de mí, oh Señor, en tu bondad hacia tu pueblo; visítame con tu salvación,

5 T hat I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.

para que yo vea la prosperidad de tus escogidos, para que me regocije en la alegría de tu nación, para que me gloríe con tu heredad.

6 W e have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.

Nosotros hemos pecado como nuestros padres, hemos hecho iniquidad, nos hemos conducido impíamente.

7 O ur fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.

Nuestros padres en Egipto no entendieron tus maravillas; no se acordaron de tu infinito amor, sino que se rebelaron junto al mar, en el mar Rojo.

8 N evertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.

No obstante, los salvó por amor de su nombre, para manifestar su poder.

9 H e rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

Reprendió, pues, al mar Rojo, y se secó; y los condujo por las profundidades, como por un desierto.

10 A nd he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

Los salvó de mano del que los odiaba, y los redimió de mano del enemigo.

11 A nd the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.

Las aguas cubrieron a sus adversarios, ni uno de ellos escapó.

12 T hen believed they his words; they sang his praise.

Entonces creyeron en sus palabras, y cantaron su alabanza.

13 T hey soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:

Pero pronto se olvidaron de sus obras; no esperaron su consejo.

14 B ut lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.

Tuvieron apetitos desenfrenados en el desierto, y tentaron a Dios en las soledades.

15 A nd he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

El les concedió lo que pedían, pero envió una plaga mortal sobre ellos.

16 T hey envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the Lord.

Cuando en el campamento tuvieron envidia de Moisés, y de Aarón, el santo del Señor,

17 T he earth opened and swallowed up Dathan and covered the company of Abiram.

la tierra se abrió y tragó a Datán, y se cerró sobre el grupo de Abiram.

18 A nd a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.

Un fuego ardió contra su grupo, la llama consumió a los impíos.

19 T hey made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.

Hicieron un becerro en Horeb, y adoraron una imagen de fundición;

20 T hus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.

cambiaron su gloria por la imagen de un buey que come hierba.

21 T hey forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;

Se olvidaron de Dios su Salvador, que había hecho grandes cosas en Egipto,

22 W ondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.

maravillas en la tierra de Cam, y cosas asombrosas en el mar Rojo.

23 T herefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

El dijo que los hubiera destruido, de no haberse puesto Moisés, su escogido, en la brecha delante de El, a fin de apartar su furor para que no los destruyera.

24 Y ea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:

Aborrecieron la tierra deseable, no creyeron en su palabra,

25 B ut murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the Lord.

sino que murmuraron en sus tiendas, y no escucharon la voz del Señor.

26 T herefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:

Por tanto, les juró abatirlos en el desierto,

27 T o overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.

y esparcir su simiente entre las naciones, y dispersarlos por las tierras.

28 T hey joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.

Se unieron también a Baal-peor, y comieron sacrificios ofrecidos a los muertos.

29 T hus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.

Le provocaron, pues, a ira con sus actos, y la plaga se desató entre ellos.

30 T hen stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.

Entonces Finees se levantó e intervino, y cesó la plaga.

31 A nd that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.

Y le fue contado por justicia por todas las generaciones para siempre.

32 T hey angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:

También le hicieron enojarse en las aguas de Meriba, y le fue mal a Moisés por culpa de ellos,

33 B ecause they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.

puesto que fueron rebeldes contra su Espíritu, y él habló precipitadamente con sus labios.

34 T hey did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the Lord commanded them:

No destruyeron a los pueblos, como el Señor les había mandado,

35 B ut were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.

sino que se mezclaron con las naciones, aprendieron sus costumbres,

36 A nd they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.

y sirvieron a sus ídolos que se convirtieron en lazo para ellos.

37 Y ea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,

Sacrificaron a sus hijos y a sus hijas a los demonios,

38 A nd shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.

y derramaron sangre inocente, la sangre de sus hijos y de sus hijas, a quienes sacrificaron a los ídolos de Canaán, y la tierra fue contaminada con sangre.

39 T hus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.

Así se contaminaron en sus costumbres, y fueron infieles en sus hechos.

40 T herefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.

Entonces se encendió la ira del Señor contra su pueblo, y El aborreció su heredad.

41 A nd he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.

Los entregó en mano de las naciones, y los que los aborrecían se enseñorearon sobre ellos.

42 T heir enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.

Sus enemigos también los oprimieron, y fueron subyugados bajo su poder.

43 M any times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.

Muchas veces los libró; ellos, sin embargo, fueron rebeldes a su consejo, y se hundieron en su iniquidad.

44 N evertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:

Sin embargo, El vio su angustia al escuchar su clamor;

45 A nd he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.

y por amor a ellos se acordó de su pacto, y se arrepintió conforme a la grandeza de su misericordia.

46 H e made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.

Les hizo también objeto de compasión en presencia de todos los que los tenían cautivos.

47 S ave us, O Lord our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.

Sálvanos, oh Señor, Dios nuestro, y reúnenos de entre las naciones, para dar gracias a tu santo nombre, y para gloriarnos en tu alabanza.

48 B lessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the Lord.

Bendito sea el Señor, Dios de Israel, desde la eternidad y hasta la eternidad. Y todo el pueblo diga: Amén. ¡Aleluya!
