1 A nd it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the Lord had given him rest round about from all his enemies;

Sucedió que cuando el rey ya moraba en su casa, y el Señor le había dado descanso de sus enemigos por todos lados,

2 T hat the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.

el rey dijo al profeta Natán: Mira, yo habito en una casa de cedro, pero el arca de Dios mora en medio de cortinas.

3 A nd Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thine heart; for the Lord is with thee.

Entonces Natán dijo al rey: Ve, haz todo lo que está en tu corazón, porque el Señor está contigo.

4 A nd it came to pass that night, that the word of the Lord came unto Nathan, saying,

Y sucedió que esa misma noche la palabra del Señor vino a Natán, diciendo:

5 G o and tell my servant David, Thus saith the Lord, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?

Ve y di a mi siervo David: “Así dice el Señor: ‘¿Eres tú el que me va a edificar una casa para morar en ella ?

6 W hereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.

‘Pues no he morado en una casa desde el día en que saqué de Egipto a los hijos de Israel hasta hoy, sino que he andado errante en una tienda, en un tabernáculo.

7 I n all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?

‘Dondequiera que he ido con todos los hijos de Israel, ¿hablé palabra a alguna de las tribus de Israel, a la cual haya ordenado que pastoreara a mi pueblo Israel, diciendo: “¿Por qué no me habéis edificado una casa de cedro?”’”

8 N ow therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:

Ahora pues, así dirás a mi siervo David: “Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: ‘Yo te tomé del pastizal, de seguir las ovejas, para que fueras príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel.

9 A nd I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.

‘Y he estado contigo por dondequiera que has ido y he exterminado a todos tus enemigos de delante de ti, y haré de ti un gran nombre como el nombre de los grandes que hay en la tierra.

10 M oreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,

‘Asignaré también un lugar para mi pueblo Israel, y lo plantaré allí a fin de que habite en su propio lugar y no sea perturbado de nuevo, ni los aflijan más los malvados como antes,

11 A nd as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the Lord telleth thee that he will make thee an house.

y como desde el día en que ordené que hubiera jueces sobre mi pueblo Israel; te daré reposo de todos tus enemigos, y el Señor también te hace saber que el Señor te edificará una casa.

12 A nd when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

‘Cuando tus días se cumplan y reposes con tus padres, levantaré a tu descendiente después de ti, el cual saldrá de tus entrañas, y estableceré su reino.

13 H e shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

‘El edificará casa a mi nombre, y yo estableceré el trono de su reino para siempre.

14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:

‘Yo seré padre para él y él será hijo para mí. Cuando cometa iniquidad, lo corregiré con vara de hombres y con azotes de hijos de hombres,

15 B ut my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.

pero mi misericordia no se apartará de él, como la aparté de Saúl a quien quité de delante de ti.

16 A nd thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

‘Tu casa y tu reino permanecerán para siempre delante de mí; tu trono será establecido para siempre.’”

17 A ccording to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

Conforme a todas estas palabras y conforme a toda esta visión, así habló Natán a David.

18 T hen went king David in, and sat before the Lord, and he said, Who am I, O Lord God ? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?

Entonces el rey David entró y se sentó delante del Señor y dijo: ¿Quién soy yo, oh Señor Dios, y qué es mi casa para que me hayas traído hasta aquí?

19 A nd this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord God; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord God ?

Y aun esto fue insignificante ante tus ojos, oh Señor Dios, pues también has hablado de la casa de tu siervo concerniente a un futuro lejano. Y esta es la ley de los hombres, oh Señor Dios.

20 A nd what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord God, knowest thy servant.

¿Y qué más podría decirte David? Pues tú conoces a tu siervo, oh Señor Dios.

21 F or thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them.

A causa de tu palabra, conforme a tu propio corazón, tú has hecho toda esta grandeza, para que lo sepa tu siervo.

22 W herefore thou art great, O Lord God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

Oh Señor Dios, por eso tú eres grande; pues no hay nadie como tú, ni hay Dios fuera de ti, conforme a todo lo que hemos oído con nuestros oídos.

23 A nd what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?

¿Y qué otra nación en la tierra es como tu pueblo Israel, al cual viniste a redimir para ti como pueblo, a fin de darte un nombre, y hacer grandes cosas a su favor y cosas portentosas para tu tierra, ante tu pueblo que rescataste para ti de Egipto, de naciones y de sus dioses?

24 F or thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, Lord, art become their God.

Pues tú has establecido para ti a tu pueblo Israel como pueblo tuyo para siempre, y tú, Señor, has venido a ser su Dios.

25 A nd now, O Lord God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said.

Y ahora, oh Señor Dios, confirma para siempre la palabra que has hablado acerca de tu siervo y acerca de su casa, y haz según has hablado.

26 A nd let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The Lord of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.

Y sea engrandecido tu nombre para siempre, al decirse: “El Señor de los ejércitos es Dios sobre Israel”; y que la casa de tu siervo David sea establecida delante de ti.

27 F or thou, O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.

Porque tú, oh Señor de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, has revelado a tu siervo, diciendo: “Yo te edificaré casa”; por tanto, tu siervo ha hallado ánimo para elevar esta oración a ti.

28 A nd now, O Lord God, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

Ahora pues, oh Señor Dios, tú eres Dios, tus palabras son verdad y tú has prometido este bien a tu siervo.

29 T herefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord God, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.

Y ahora, ten a bien bendecir la casa de tu siervo, a fin de que permanezca para siempre delante de ti; porque tú, oh Señor Dios, has hablado y con tu bendición será bendita para siempre la casa de tu siervo.
