1 A nd he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.

Decía también Jesús a los discípulos: Había cierto hombre rico que tenía un mayordomo; y éste fue acusado ante él de derrochar sus bienes.

2 A nd he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.

Entonces lo llamó y le dijo: “¿Qué es esto que oigo acerca de ti? Rinde cuentas de tu administración, porque no puedes ser más mayordomo.”

3 T hen the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.

Y el mayordomo se dijo a sí mismo: “¿Qué haré? Pues mi señor me quita la administración. No tengo fuerzas para cavar, y me da vergüenza mendigar.

4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.

“Ya sé lo que haré, para que cuando se me destituya de la administración me reciban en sus casas.”

5 S o he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?

Y llamando a cada uno de los deudores de su señor, dijo al primero: “¿Cuánto le debes a mi señor?”

6 A nd he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.

Y él dijo: “Cien barriles de aceite.” Y le dijo: “Toma tu factura, siéntate pronto y escribe cincuenta.”

7 T hen said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore.

Después dijo a otro: “Y tú, ¿cuánto debes?” Y él respondió: “Cien medidas de trigo.” El le dijo: “Toma tu factura y escribe ochenta.”

8 A nd the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.

El señor elogió al mayordomo injusto porque había procedido con sagacidad, pues los hijos de este siglo son más sagaces en las relaciones con sus semejantes que los hijos de la luz.

9 A nd I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.

Y yo os digo: Haceos amigos por medio de las riquezas injustas, para que cuando falten, os reciban en las moradas eternas.

10 H e that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

El que es fiel en lo muy poco, es fiel también en lo mucho; y el que es injusto en lo muy poco, también es injusto en lo mucho.

11 I f therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

Por tanto, si no habéis sido fieles en el uso de las riquezas injustas, ¿quién os confiará las riquezas verdaderas?

12 A nd if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?

Y si no habéis sido fieles en el uso de lo ajeno, ¿quién os dará lo que es vuestro ?

13 N o servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Ningún siervo puede servir a dos señores, porque o aborrecerá a uno y amará al otro, o se apegará a uno y despreciará al otro. No podéis servir a Dios y a las riquezas. Los fariseos y la ley

14 A nd the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.

Los fariseos, que eran amantes del dinero, oían todas estas cosas y se burlaban de El.

15 A nd he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

Y El les dijo: Vosotros sois los que os justificáis a vosotros mismos ante los hombres, pero Dios conoce vuestros corazones, porque lo que entre los hombres es de alta estima, abominable es delante de Dios.

16 T he law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

La ley y los profetas se proclamaron hasta Juan; desde entonces se anuncian las buenas nuevas del reino de Dios, y todos se esfuerzan por entrar en él.

17 A nd it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

Pero más fácil es que el cielo y la tierra pasen, que un ápice de la ley deje de cumplirse.

18 W hosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.

Todo el que se divorcia de su mujer y se casa con otra, comete adulterio; y el que se casa con la que está divorciada del marido, comete adulterio. El rico y Lázaro

19 T here was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

Había cierto hombre rico que se vestía de púrpura y lino fino, celebrando cada día fiestas con esplendidez.

20 A nd there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

Y un pobre llamado Lázaro yacía a su puerta cubierto de llagas,

21 A nd desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

ansiando saciarse de las migajas que caían de la mesa del rico; además, hasta los perros venían y le lamían las llagas.

22 A nd it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

Y sucedió que murió el pobre y fue llevado por los ángeles al seno de Abraham; y murió también el rico y fue sepultado.

23 A nd in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

En el Hades alzó sus ojos, estando en tormentos, y vio a Abraham a lo lejos, y a Lázaro en su seno.

24 A nd he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

Y gritando, dijo: “Padre Abraham, ten misericordia de mí, y envía a Lázaro para que moje la punta de su dedo en agua y refresque mi lengua, pues estoy en agonía en esta llama.”

25 B ut Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

Pero Abraham le dijo: “Hijo, recuerda que durante tu vida recibiste tus bienes, y Lázaro, igualmente, males; pero ahora él es consolado aquí, y tú estás en agonía.

26 A nd beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

“Y además de todo esto, hay un gran abismo puesto entre nosotros y vosotros, de modo que los que quieran pasar de aquí a vosotros no puedan, y tampoco nadie pueda cruzar de allá a nosotros.”

27 T hen he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:

Entonces él dijo: “Te ruego, pues, padre, que lo envíes a la casa de mi padre,

28 F or I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

pues tengo cinco hermanos, de modo que él los prevenga, para que ellos no vengan también a este lugar de tormento.”

29 A braham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

Pero Abraham dijo: “Ellos tienen a Moisés y a los profetas; que los oigan.”

30 A nd he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

Y él dijo: “No, padre Abraham, sino que si alguno va a ellos de entre los muertos, se arrepentirán.”

31 A nd he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Mas Abraham le contestó: “Si no escuchan a Moisés y a los profetas, tampoco se persuadirán si alguno se levanta de entre los muertos.”
