1 T he beginning of the good news (the Gospel) of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

2 J ust as it is written in the prophet Isaiah: Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, who will make ready Your way—

Secondo quanto è scritto nel profeta Isaia: «Ecco, io mando davanti a te il mio messaggero che preparerà la tua via.

3 A voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare the way of the Lord, make His beaten tracks straight (level and passable)!

Voce di uno che grida nel deserto: “Preparate la via del Signore, raddrizzate i suoi sentieri” ».

4 J ohn the Baptist appeared in the wilderness (desert), preaching a baptism '> obligating] repentance ( a change of one’s mind for the better, heartily amending one’s ways, with abhorrence of his past sins) in order to obtain forgiveness of and release from sins.

Venne Giovanni il battista nel deserto predicando un battesimo di ravvedimento per il perdono dei peccati.

5 A nd there kept going out to him all the country of Judea and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, as they were confessing their sins.

E tutto il paese della Giudea e tutti quelli di Gerusalemme accorrevano a lui ed erano da lui battezzati nel fiume Giordano, confessando i loro peccati.

6 A nd John wore clothing woven of camel’s hair and had a leather girdle around his loins and ate locusts and wild honey.

Giovanni era vestito di pelo di cammello, con una cintura di cuoio intorno ai fianchi, e si nutriva di cavallette e di miele selvatico.

7 A nd he preached, saying, After me comes He Who is stronger (more powerful and more valiant) than I, the strap of Whose sandals I am not worthy or fit to stoop down and unloose.

E predicava, dicendo: «Dopo di me viene colui che è più forte di me, al quale io non sono degno di chinarmi a sciogliere il legaccio dei calzari.

8 I have baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.

Io vi ho battezzati con acqua, ma lui vi battezzerà con lo Spirito Santo». Battesimo e tentazione di Gesù Cristo

9 I n those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

In quei giorni Gesù venne da Nazaret di Galilea e fu battezzato da Giovanni nel Giordano.

10 A nd when He came up out of the water, at once he saw the heavens torn open and the Spirit like a dove coming down '> to enter] into Him.

A un tratto, come egli usciva dall’acqua, vide aprirsi i cieli e lo Spirito scendere su di lui come una colomba.

11 A nd there came a voice out from within heaven, You are My Beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.

Una voce venne dai cieli: «Tu sei il mio diletto Figlio; in te mi sono compiaciuto ».

12 I mmediately the Spirit drove Him out into the wilderness (desert),

Subito dopo, lo Spirito lo sospinse nel deserto;

13 A nd He stayed in the wilderness (desert) forty days, being tempted by Satan; and He was with the wild beasts, and the angels ministered to Him.

e rimase nel deserto per quaranta giorni, tentato da Satana. Stava tra le bestie selvatiche e gli angeli lo servivano. Gesù Cristo in Galilea

14 N ow after John was arrested and put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the good news (the Gospel) of the kingdom of God,

Dopo che Giovanni fu messo in prigione, Gesù si recò in Galilea, predicando il vangelo di Dio e dicendo:

15 A nd saying, The time is fulfilled (completed), and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent ( have a change of mind which issues in regret for past sins and in change of conduct for the better) and believe (trust in, rely on, and adhere to) the good news (the Gospel).

«Il tempo è compiuto e il regno di Dio è vicino; ravvedetevi e credete al vangelo». Primi discepoli di Gesù Cristo

16 A nd passing along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net in the sea, for they were fishermen.

Mentre passava lungo il mare di Galilea, egli vide Simone e Andrea, fratello di Simone, che gettavano la rete in mare, perché erano pescatori.

17 A nd Jesus said to them, Come after Me and be My disciples, and I will make you to become fishers of men.

Gesù disse loro: «Seguitemi, e io farò di voi dei pescatori di uomini».

18 A nd at once they left their nets and '> yielding up all claim to them] followed Him '> joining Him as disciples and siding with His party].

Essi, lasciate subito le reti, lo seguirono.

19 H e went on a little farther and saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were in boat putting their nets in order.

Poi,, andando un po’ più oltre, vide Giacomo, figlio di Zebedeo, e Giovanni, suo fratello, che anch’essi in barca rassettavano le reti;

20 A nd immediately He called out to them, and '> abandoning all mutual claims] they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and went off after Him '> to be His disciples, side with His party, and follow Him].

e subito li chiamò; ed essi, lasciato Zebedeo loro padre nella barca con gli operai, se ne andarono dietro a lui. Gesù scaccia un demonio a Capernaum

21 A nd they entered into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath He went into the synagogue and began to teach.

Vennero a Capernaum; e subito, il sabato, Gesù, entrato nella sinagoga, insegnava.

22 A nd they were completely astonished at His teaching, for He was teaching as One Who possessed authority, and not as the scribes.

Essi si stupivano del suo insegnamento, perché egli insegnava loro come uno che ha autorità e non come gli scribi.

23 J ust at that time there was in their synagogue a man of an unclean spirit; and now he raised a deep and terrible cry from the depths of his throat, saying,

In quel momento si trovava nella loro sinagoga un uomo posseduto da uno spirito immondo, il quale prese a gridare:

24 W hat have You to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!

«Che c’è fra noi e te, Gesù Nazareno? Sei venuto per mandarci in perdizione ? Io so chi sei: il Santo di Dio!»

25 A nd Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hush up (be muzzled, gagged), and come out of him!

Gesù lo sgridò, dicendo: «Sta’ zitto ed esci da costui!»

26 A nd the unclean spirit, throwing the man into convulsions and screeching with a loud voice, came out of him.

E lo spirito immondo, straziandolo e gridando forte, uscì da lui.

27 A nd they were all so amazed and almost terrified that they kept questioning and demanding one of another, saying, What is this? What new (fresh) teaching! With authority He gives orders even to the unclean spirits and they obey Him!

E tutti si stupirono e si domandavano tra di loro: «Che cos’è mai questo? È un nuovo insegnamento dato con autorità! Egli comanda perfino agli spiriti immondi, ed essi gli ubbidiscono!»

28 A nd immediately rumors concerning Him spread throughout all the region surrounding Galilee.

La sua fama si divulgò subito dappertutto, nella circostante regione della Galilea. Gesù guarisce la suocera di Pietro

29 A nd at once He left the synagogue and went into the house of Simon and Andrew, accompanied by James and John.

Appena usciti dalla sinagoga, andarono con Giacomo e Giovanni in casa di Simone e di Andrea.

30 N ow Simon’s mother-in-law had for some time been lying sick with a fever, and at once they told Him about her.

La suocera di Simone era a letto con la febbre; ed essi subito gliene parlarono.

31 A nd He went up to her and took her by the hand and raised her up; and the fever left her, and she began to wait on them.

Egli, avvicinatosi, la prese per la mano e la fece alzare; la febbre la lasciò ed ella si mise a servirli. Altre guarigioni; missione in Galilea

32 N ow when it was evening, after the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those under the power of demons,

Poi, fattosi sera, quando il sole fu tramontato, gli condussero tutti i malati e gli indemoniati;

33 U ntil the whole town was gathered together about the door.

tutta la città era radunata alla porta.

34 A nd He cured many who were afflicted with various diseases; and He drove out many demons, but would not allow the demons to talk because they knew Him '> intuitively].

Egli ne guarì molti che soffrivano di diverse malattie, e scacciò molti demòni e non permetteva loro di parlare, perché lo conoscevano.

35 A nd in the morning, long before daylight, He got up and went out to a deserted place, and there He prayed.

Poi, la mattina, mentre era ancora notte, Gesù si alzò, uscì e se ne andò in un luogo deserto; e là pregava.

36 A nd Simon and those who were with him followed Him '> pursuing Him eagerly and hunting Him out],

Simone e quelli che erano con lui si misero a cercarlo;

37 A nd they found Him and said to Him, Everybody is looking for You.

e, trovatolo, gli dissero: «Tutti ti cercano».

38 A nd He said to them, Let us be going on into the neighboring country towns, that I may preach there also; for that is why I came out.

Ed egli disse loro: «Andiamo altrove, per i villaggi vicini, affinché io predichi anche là; per questo infatti sono venuto».

39 H e went throughout the whole of Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.

E andò per tutta la Galilea, predicando nelle loro sinagoghe e scacciando demòni. Gesù guarisce un lebbroso

40 A nd a leper came to Him, begging Him on his knees and saying to Him, If You are willing, You are able to make me clean.

Venne a lui un lebbroso e {, buttandosi in ginocchio,} lo pregò dicendo: «Se vuoi, tu puoi purificarmi!»

41 A nd being moved with pity and sympathy, Jesus reached out His hand and touched him, and said to him, I am willing; be made clean!

Ed egli, impietositosi, stese la mano, lo toccò e gli disse: «Lo voglio; sii purificato!»

42 A nd at once the leprosy left him and he was made clean.

E subito la lebbra sparì da lui, e fu purificato.

43 A nd Jesus charged him sternly (sharply and threateningly, and with earnest admonition) and sent him away at once,

Gesù lo congedò subito, dopo averlo ammonito severamente,

44 A nd said to him, See that you tell nothing to anyone; but begone, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your purification what Moses commanded, as a proof (an evidence and witness) to the people.

e gli disse: «Guarda di non dire nulla a nessuno, ma va’, mostrati al sacerdote, offri per la tua purificazione quel che Mosè ha prescritto; questo serva loro di testimonianza».

45 B ut he went out and began to talk so freely about it and blaze abroad the news that could no longer openly go into a town but was outside in desert places. But the people kept on coming to Him from all sides and every quarter.

Ma quello, appena partito, si mise a proclamare e a divulgare il fatto, tanto che Gesù non poteva più entrare apertamente in città; ma se ne stava fuori in luoghi deserti, e da ogni parte la gente accorreva a lui.
