2 T o show forth Your loving-kindness in the morning and Your faithfulness by night,

proclamare al mattino la tua bontà, e la tua fedeltà ogni notte,

3 W ith an instrument of ten strings and with the lute, with a solemn sound upon the lyre.

sulla lira a dieci corde e sulla cetra, con la melodia dell’arpa!

4 F or You, O Lord, have made me glad by Your works; at the deeds of Your hands I joyfully sing.

Poiché tu mi hai rallegrato con le tue meraviglie, o Signore; io canto di gioia per le opere delle tue mani.

5 H ow great are Your doings, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep.

Come sono grandi le tue opere, o Signore! Come sono profondi i tuoi pensieri!

6 A man in his rude and uncultivated state knows not, neither does a fool understand this:

L’uomo insensato non conosce e lo stolto non intende questo:

7 T hat though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to be destroyed forever.

che gli empi germogliano come l’erba e che tutti i malfattori fioriscono per essere distrutti in eterno.

8 B ut You, Lord, are on high forever.

Ma tu, o Signore, siedi per sempre in alto.

9 F or behold, Your adversaries, O Lord, for behold, Your enemies shall perish; all the evildoers shall be scattered.

Poiché, ecco, i tuoi nemici, o Signore, ecco, i tuoi nemici periranno e i malfattori saranno dispersi.

10 B ut my horn (emblem of excessive strength and stately grace) You have exalted like that of a wild ox; I am anointed with fresh oil.

Ma tu mi dai la forza del bufalo; io sono cosparso d’olio fresco.

11 M y eye looks upon those who lie in wait for me; my ears hear the evildoers that rise up against me.

I miei occhi hanno visto la rovina di quelli che m’insidiano; il mio orecchio ha udito la disfatta dei malvagi che si avventano contro di me.

12 T he righteous shall flourish like the palm tree; they shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

Il giusto fiorirà come la palma, crescerà come il cedro del Libano.

13 P lanted in the house of the Lord, they shall flourish in the courts of our God.

Quelli che sono piantati nella casa del Signore fioriranno nei cortili del nostro Dio.

14 t hey shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap and verdure.

Porteranno ancora frutto nella vecchiaia; saranno pieni di vigore e verdeggianti,

15 t o show that the Lord is upright and faithful to His promises; He is my Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

per annunciare che il Signore è giusto; egli è la mia rocca, e non v’è ingiustizia in lui.
