1 T herefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed,

RUEGO á los ancianos que están entre vosotros, yo anciano también con ellos, y testigo de las afliciciones de Cristo, que soy también participante de la gloria que ha de ser revelada:

2 s hepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness;

Apacentad la grey de Dios que está entre vosotros, teniendo cuidado de ella, no por fuerza, sino voluntariamente; no por ganancia deshonesta, sino de un ánimo pronto;

3 n or yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock.

Y no como teniendo señorío sobre las heredades del Señor, sino siendo dechados de la grey.

4 A nd when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.

Y cuando apareciere el Príncipe de los pastores, vosotros recibiréis la corona incorruptible de gloria.

5 Y ou younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

Igualmente, mancebos, sed sujetos á los ancianos; y todos sumisos unos á otros, revestíos de humildad; porque Dios resiste á los soberbios, y da gracia á los humildes.

6 T herefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time,

Humillaos pues bajo la poderosa mano de Dios, para que él os ensalce cuando fuere tiempo;

7 c asting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

Echando toda vuestra solicitud en él, porque él tiene cuidado de vosotros.

8 B e of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Sed templados, y velad; porque vuestro adversario el diablo, cual león rugiente, anda alrededor buscando á quien devore:

9 B ut resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.

Al cual resistid firmes en la fe, sabiendo que las mismas aflicciones han de ser cumplidas en la compañía de vuestros hermanos que están en el mundo.

10 A fter you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.

Mas el Dios de toda gracia, que nos ha llamado á su gloria eterna por Jesucristo, después que hubiereis un poco de tiempo padecido, él mismo os perfeccione, coforme, corrobore y establezca.

11 T o Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.

A él sea gloria é imperio para siempre. Amén.

12 T hrough Silvanus, our faithful brother (for so I regard him ), I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it!

Por Silvano, el hermano fiel, según yo pienso, os he escrito brevemente, amonestándo os, y testificando que ésta es la verdadera gracia de Dios, en la cual estáis.

13 S he who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you greetings, and so does my son, Mark.

La iglesia que está en Babilonia, juntamente elegida con vosotros, os saluda, y Marcos mi hijo.

14 G reet one another with a kiss of love. Peace be to you all who are in Christ.

Saludaos unos á otros con ósculo de caridad. Paz sea con todos vosotros los que estáis en Jesucristo. Amén.
