1 H old not thy peace, O God of my praise;

Dumnezeul laudei mele, nu tăcea!

2 F or the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of deceit have they opened against me: They have spoken unto me with a lying tongue.

Iată că gura celui rău şi gura celui înşelător se deschid împotriva mea; îmi vorbesc cu o limbă mincinoasă.

3 T hey have compassed me about also with words of hatred, And fought against me without a cause.

Mă împresoară cu nişte cuvinte de ură şi se războiesc cu mine fără temei.

4 F or my love they are my adversaries: But I give myself unto prayer.

La dragostea mea ei răspund cu duşmănie, dar eu mă rog.

5 A nd they have rewarded me evil for good, And hatred for my love.

Ei îmi răsplătesc binele cu rău şi dragostea mea – cu ură.

6 S et thou a wicked man over him; And let an adversary stand at his right hand.

Pune un om rău împotriva lui şi un acuzator să stea la dreapta lui!

7 W hen he is judged, let him come forth guilty; And let his prayer be turned into sin.

Când va fi judecat, să fie găsit vinovat, iar rugăciunea să-i fie socotită un păcat.

8 L et his days be few; And let another take his office.

Fie-i zilele puţine, iar slujba lui s-o ia altul!

9 L et his children be fatherless, And his wife a widow.

Să-i rămână fiii orfani, şi soţia lui – văduvă!

10 L et his children be vagabonds, and beg; And let them seek their bread out of their desolate places.

Fiii lui să rătăcească cerşind şi căutând printre ruine!

11 L et the extortioner catch all that he hath; And let strangers make spoil of his labor.

Cel ce l-a împrumutat să-i ia tot ceea ce are şi străinii să-l jefuiască de rodul muncii lui!

12 L et there be none to extend kindness unto him; Neither let there be any to have pity on his fatherless children.

Să nu mai fie nimeni care să-i arate îndurare şi să nu mai fie nimeni care să arate îndurare orfanilor lui!

13 L et his posterity be cut off; In the generation following let their name be blotted out.

Fie ca urmaşii lui să fie stârpiţi, iar în generaţia următoare să le fie şters numele!

14 L et the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with Jehovah; And let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.

Să fie păstrată înaintea Domnului aducerea-aminte a vinii strămoşilor lui şi să nu fie şters păcatul mamei lui!

15 L et them be before Jehovah continually, That he may cut off the memory of them from the earth;

Să rămână de-a pururi înaintea Domnului, iar El să le şteargă amintirea de pe pământ!

16 B ecause he remembered not to show kindness, But persecuted the poor and needy man, And the broken in heart, to slay them.

Căci nu şi-a amintit să se poarte cu îndurare, ci l-a prigonit pe sărman şi pe nevoiaş şi l-a omorât pe cel cu inima zdrobită!

17 Y ea, he loved cursing, and it came unto him; And he delighted not in blessing, and it was far from him.

A iubit blestemul; de el să aibă parte! Nu i-a plăcut binecuvântarea; aceasta să stea departe de el!

18 H e clothed himself also with cursing as with his garment, And it came into his inward parts like water, And like oil into his bones.

A îmbrăcat blestemul ca pe propria haină, i-a intrat în pântece ca apa şi în oase – ca untdelemnul.

19 L et it be unto him as the raiment wherewith he covereth himself, And for the girdle wherewith he is girded continually.

De aceea, el să-i fie mantaua cu care se acoperă şi brâul cu care se încinge mereu!

20 T his is the reward of mine adversaries from Jehovah, And of them that speak evil against my soul.

Aceasta să fie răsplata potrivnicilor mei din partea Domnului şi a celor ce mă vorbesc de rău!

21 B ut deal thou with me, O Jehovah the Lord, for thy name's sake: Because thy lovingkindness is good, deliver thou me;

Dar Tu, Doamne, Stăpâne, de dragul Numelui Tău, fă-Ţi lucrarea cu mine! Pentru că îndurarea Ta este mare, mântuieşte-mă!

22 F or I am poor and needy, And my heart is wounded within me.

Căci sunt sărman şi necăjit, iar inima mi-e rănită înăuntrul meu.

23 I am gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am tossed up and down as the locust.

Pier ca o umbră trecătoare; sunt alungat ca o lăcustă.

24 M y knees are weak through fasting; And my flesh faileth of fatness.

Genunchii îmi sunt slăbiţi de post, iar trupul mi-e sleit din lipsă de grăsime.

25 I am become also a reproach unto them: When they see me, they shake their head.

Am ajuns de batjocura lor; cei ce mă văd dau din cap.

26 H elp me, O Jehovah my God; Oh save me according to thy lovingkindness:

Doamne, Dumnezeul meu, ajută-mă! În îndurarea Ta, scapă-mă!

27 T hat they may know that this is thy hand; That thou, Jehovah, hast done it.

Fă ca ei să recunoască în aceasta mâna Ta, să recunoască că Tu, Doamne, ai făcut lucrul acesta!

28 L et them curse, but bless thou: When they arise, they shall be put to shame, But thy servant shall rejoice.

Ei blestemă, dar Tu binecuvântezi. Ei se ridică şi rămân de ruşine, dar robul Tău se va veseli.

29 L et mine adversaries be clothed with dishonor, And let them cover themselves with their own shame as with a robe.

Potrivnicii mei se îmbracă cu batjocura, se acoperă cu neruşinarea ca şi cu o manta.

30 I will give great thanks unto Jehovah with my mouth; Yea, I will praise him among the multitude.

Eu Îl voi slăvi pe Domnul cu gura mea, în mijlocul multora Îl voi lăuda.

31 F or he will stand at the right hand of the needy, To save him from them that judge his soul.

Căci El stă la dreapta celui sărman, ca să-l scape de acuzatorii lui.
