1 W hoso loveth correction loveth knowledge; But he that hateth reproof is brutish.

Cine iubeşte disciplinarea, iubeşte cunoştinţa, dar cel ce urăşte mustrarea este prost.

2 A good man shall obtain favor of Jehovah; But a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

Cel bun obţine bunăvoinţă de la Domnul, dar El condamnă pe omul cu intenţii rele.

3 A man shall not be established by wickedness; But the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

Omul nu se poate întări prin răutate, dar cel drept nu poate fi dezrădăcinat.

4 A worthy woman is the crown of her husband; But she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

O soţie virtuoasă este coroana soţului ei, dar cea care-i aduce ruşine este ca putrezirea în oasele lui.

5 T he thoughts of the righteous are just; But the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

Planurile celor drepţi sunt chibzuite, dar sfaturile celor răi sunt înşelătoare.

6 T he words of the wicked are of lying in wait for blood; But the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

Cuvintele celor răi stau la pândă ca să verse sânge, dar vorbirea celor drepţi îi va salva.

7 T he wicked are overthrown, and are not; But the house of the righteous shall stand.

Cei răi sunt doborâţi şi nu mai sunt, dar casa celor drepţi rămâne în picioare.

8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom; But he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

Un om este lăudat potrivit priceperii lui, dar cel ce are mintea stricată va fi dispreţuit.

9 B etter is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant, Than he that honoreth himself, and lacketh bread.

Mai bine lipsit de importanţă, dar cu servitor, decât fudul şi fără mâncare!

10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast; But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

Celui drept îi pasă de nevoile animalului său, dar faptele binevoitoare ale celor răi sunt fără milă.

11 H e that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread; But he that followeth after vain persons is void of understanding.

Cine îşi lucrează pământul se va sătura de pâine, dar cel ce umblă după deşertăciuni este fără minte.

12 T he wicked desireth the net of evil men; But the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

Cel rău pofteşte prada celor ticăloşi, dar rădăcina celor drepţi va rodi.

13 I n the transgression of the lips is a snare to the evil man; But the righteous shall come out of trouble.

Cel rău este prins în cursă de vorbirea lui păcătoasă, dar cel drept scapă din necaz.

14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth; And the doings of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.

Prin rodul gurii lui, omul va fi săturat de bunătăţi şi fiecare va fi răsplătit după lucrul mâinilor lui.

15 T he way of a fool is right in his own eyes; But he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.

Calea prostului este corectă în ochii lui, dar cel înţelept ascultă sfaturile.

16 A fool's vexation is presently known; But a prudent man concealeth shame.

Cel prost îşi dă la iveală îndată mânia, dar cel prudent ascunde insulta.

17 H e that uttereth truth showeth forth righteousness; But a false witness, deceit.

Martorul adevărat depune o mărturie dreaptă, dar martorul fals spune minciuni.

18 T here is that speaketh rashly like the piercings of a sword; But the tongue of the wise is health.

Cuvintele necugetate sunt ca străpungerile unei săbii, dar limba celui înţelept aduce vindecare.

19 T he lip of truth shall be established for ever; But a lying tongue is but for a moment.

Buzele sincere sunt întărite pentru totdeauna, dar limba mincinoasă rezistă doar pentru o clipă.

20 D eceit is in the heart of them that devise evil; But to the counsellors of peace is joy.

Înşelătoria este în inima celor ce plănuiesc răul, dar bucuria este pentru cei împăciuitori.

21 T here shall no mischief happen to the righteous; But the wicked shall be filled with evil.

Cel drept nu are parte de nici o nenorocire, dar cel rău este copleşit de necazuri.

22 L ying lips are an abomination to Jehovah; But they that deal truly are his delight.

Buzele mincinoase sunt o urâciune înaintea Domnului, dar cei credincioşi adevărului Îi sunt plăcuţi.

23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge; But the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

Omul prudent ascunde cunoştinţa, dar inima proştilor vesteşte prostia.

24 T he hand of the diligent shall bear rule; But the slothful shall be put under taskwork.

Mâinile harnice vor domni, dar leneşul va sfârşi la muncă forţată.

25 H eaviness in the heart of a man maketh it stoop; But a good word maketh it glad.

Neliniştea inimii omului duce la descurajare, dar o vorbă bună îl înveseleşte.

26 T he righteous is a guide to his neighbor; But the way of the wicked causeth them to err.

Cel drept îşi alege cu grijă prietenii, dar calea celor răi îi duce în rătăcire.

27 T he slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting; But the precious substance of men is to the diligent.

Leneşul nu-şi frige vânatul, dar omul harnic îşi preţuieşte bunurile.

28 I n the way of righteousness is life; And in the pathway thereof there is no death.

Pe cărarea dreptăţii este viaţă; de-a lungul ei nu este moarte.
