1 A nd king Solomon was king over all Israel.

2 A nd these were the princes whom he had: Azariah the son of Zadok, the priest;

4 a nd Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the host; and Zadok and Abiathar were priests;

5 a nd Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers; and Zabud the son of Nathan was chief minister, and the king's friend;

6 a nd Ahishar was over the household; and Adoniram the son of Abda was over the men subject to taskwork.

7 A nd Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, who provided victuals for the king and his household: each man had to make provision for a month in the year.

8 A nd these are their names: Ben-hur, in the hill-country of Ephraim;

9 B en-deker, in Makaz, and in Shaalbim, and Beth-shemesh, and Elon-beth-hanan;

10 B en-hesed, in Arubboth (to him pertained Socoh, and all the land of Hepher);

12 B aana the son of Ahilud, in Taanach and Megiddo, and all Beth-shean which is beside Zarethan, beneath Jezreel, from Beth-shean to Abel-meholah, as far as beyond Jokmeam;

14 A hinadab the son of Iddo, in Mahanaim;

15 A himaaz, in Naphtali (he also took Basemath the daughter of Solomon to wife);

20 J udah and Israel were many as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking and making merry.

21 A nd Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought tribute, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

Solomon mai domnea şi peste toate regatele de la râu, până în ţara filistenilor şi până la hotarul Egiptului; acestea îi plăteau tribut şi i-au fost supuse lui Solomon toată viaţa lui.

22 A nd Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,

Hrana de fiecare zi a lui Solomon era următoarea: treizeci de cori de făină fină şi şaizeci de cori de făină integrală,

23 t en fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and a hundred sheep, besides harts, and gazelles, and roebucks, and fatted fowl.

zece boi îngrăşaţi în grajd, douăzeci de boi îngrăşaţi la păşune şi o sută de oi, în afară de cerbi, gazele, căpriori şi păsări îngrăşate.

24 F or he had dominion over all the region on this side the River, from Tiphsah even to Gaza, over all the kings on this side the River: and he had peace on all sides round about him.

El stăpânea peste toată regiunea de dincoace de râu, de la Tifsah până la Gaza, peste toţi regii de dincoace de râu şi avea pace din toate părţile.

25 A nd Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig-tree, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, all the days of Solomon.

Iuda şi Israel, de la Dan până la Beer-Şeba, au locuit în siguranţă, fiecare sub via şi sub smochinul lui, în tot timpul domniei lui Solomon.

26 A nd Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.

Solomon avea patru mii de iesle pentru caii de la carele sale şi douăsprezece mii de cai.

27 A nd those officers provided victuals for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon's table, every man in his month; they let nothing be lacking.

Administratorii ţinuturilor se îngrijeau, fiecare în luna lui, de hrana regelui şi a tuturor celor ce veneau la masa regelui Solomon, urmărind ca nimic să nu lipsească.

28 B arley also and straw for the horses and swift steeds brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.

Ei aduceau şi orz şi paie pentru cai şi pentru armăsari, fiecare potrivit sarcinii care i se ceruse.

29 A nd God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea-shore.

Dumnezeu i-a dat lui Solomon înţelepciune, o foarte mare pricepere şi o înţelegere nemăsurată, ca nisipul de pe ţărmul mării.

30 A nd Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

Înţelepciunea lui Solomon era mai mare decât înţelepciunea tuturor fiilor Răsăritului şi decât toată înţelepciunea Egiptului.

31 F or he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all the nations round about.

El era mai înţelept decât oricare alt om, mai înţelept decât ezrahitul Etan, decât Heman, Calcol şi Darda, fiii lui Mahol. Faima lui s-a răspândit printre toate neamurile din jur.

32 A nd he spake three thousand proverbs; and his songs were a thousand and five.

El a alcătuit trei mii de proverbe şi a compus o mie cinci cântări.

33 A nd he spake of trees, from the cedar that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall; he spake also of beasts, and of birds, and of creeping things, and of fishes.

A vorbit despre copaci, de la cedrul din Liban până la isopul care creşte pe ziduri, despre animale, despre păsări, despre reptile şi despre peşti.

34 A nd there came of all peoples to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.

Oameni din toate neamurile, trimişi de toţi regii pământului, care auziseră despre înţelepciunea lui Solomon, veneau ca să asculte înţelepciunea sa.
