1 W hat shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

Ce vom spune atunci? Să continuăm să păcătuim ca să se înmulţească harul?

2 G od forbid. We who died to sin, how shall we any longer live therein?

În nici un caz! Cum se poate ca noi, care am murit faţă de păcat, să continuăm să trăim în el?!

3 O r are ye ignorant that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

Sau oare nu ştiţi că toţi cei care aţi fost botezaţi în Cristos Isus aţi fost botezaţi în moartea Lui?

4 W e were buried therefore with him through baptism unto death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.

Noi deci am fost îngropaţi împreună cu El prin botezul în moarte, pentru ca, aşa cum Cristos a fost înviat din morţi prin slava Tatălui, la fel să putem şi noi să umblăm în noutatea vieţii.

5 F or if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection;

Căci dacă am devenit uniţi cu El printr-o moarte asemănătoare cu a Lui, vom fi uniţi cu El şi printr-o înviere asemănătoare cu a Lui.

6 k nowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away, that so we should no longer be in bondage to sin;

Noi ştim că omul nostru cel vechi a fost răstignit împreună cu El, pentru ca trupul păcatului să fie lăsat fără putere, în aşa fel încât să nu mai fim sclavi ai păcatului;

7 f or he that hath died is justified from sin.

căci, cine a murit cu adevărat, a fost eliberat de păcat.

8 B ut if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him;

Iar dacă am murit împreună cu Cristos, credem că vom şi trăi împreună cu El.

9 k nowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death no more hath dominion over him.

Ştim că Cristos, fiind înviat din morţi, nu mai moare, moartea nu mai domneşte asupra Lui.

10 F or the death that he died, he died unto sin once: but the life that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Căci prin moartea de care a murit, a murit faţă de păcat o dată pentru totdeauna, iar viaţa pe care o trăieşte, o trăieşte pentru Dumnezeu.

11 E ven so reckon ye also yourselves to be dead unto sin, but alive unto God in Christ Jesus.

La fel şi voi, consideraţi-vă morţi faţă de păcat şi vii pentru Dumnezeu, în Cristos Isus!

12 L et not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey the lusts thereof:

Deci păcatul să nu mai domnească în trupurile voastre muritoare, aşa încât să ascultaţi de poftele lui!

13 n either present your members unto sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves unto God, as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Să nu mai oferiţi mădularele voastre păcatului, ca unelte ale nedreptăţii, ci oferiţi-vă pe voi înşivă lui Dumnezeu, ca unii care aţi fost aduşi de la moarte la viaţă şi oferiţi-vă mădularele voastre lui Dumnezeu, ca unelte ale dreptăţii,

14 F or sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under law, but under grace.

pentru ca păcatul să nu mai domnească asupra voastră, întrucât voi nu sunteţi sub Lege, ci sub har! Sclavi ai dreptăţii

15 W hat then? shall we sin, because we are not under law, but under grace? God forbid.

Şi atunci? Să păcătuim, pentru că nu suntem sub Lege, ci sub har? În nici un caz!

16 K now ye not, that to whom ye present yourselves as servants unto obedience, his servants ye are whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Nu ştiţi că atunci când vă oferiţi pe voi înşivă ca sclavi ca să ascultaţi de cineva, sunteţi sclavii celui de care ascultaţi: fie ai păcatului, care duce la moarte, fie ai ascultării, care duce la dreptate?

17 B ut thanks be to God, that, whereas ye were servants of sin, ye became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching whereunto ye were delivered;

Dar mulţumiri fie aduse lui Dumnezeu, pentru că, deşi eraţi sclavi ai păcatului, aţi ascultat din inimă de modelul de învăţătură căruia i-aţi fost încredinţaţi,

18 a nd being made free from sin, ye became servants of righteousness.

aţi fost eliberaţi de păcat şi aţi devenit sclavi ai dreptăţii!

19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye presented your members as servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity, even so now present your members as servants to righteousness unto sanctification.

Vorbesc în felul oamenilor, din cauza neputinţei firii voastre. Aşa cum v-aţi dat mădularele să fie sclave ale necurăţiei şi fărădelegii, în vederea fărădelegii, tot aşa acum, daţi-vă mădularele ca sclave ale dreptăţii, în vederea sfinţirii.

20 F or when ye were servants of sin, ye were free in regard of righteousness.

Căci atunci când eraţi sclavi ai păcatului eraţi liberi în ce priveşte dreptatea.

21 W hat fruit then had ye at that time in the things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

Şi ce roade aduceaţi atunci? Roade de care acum vă este ruşine, pentru că sfârşitul acestor lucruri este moartea!

22 B ut now being made free from sin and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end eternal life.

Însă acum, fiind eliberaţi de păcat şi devenind sclavi ai lui Dumnezeu, aveţi ca rod sfinţirea, iar ca sfârşit viaţa veşnică.

23 F or the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Fiindcă plata păcatului este moartea, dar darul lui Dumnezeu este viaţa veşnică în Cristos Isus, Domnul nostru.
