1 H ear my prayer, O Jehovah, And let my cry come unto thee.

Doamne, ascultă rugăciunea mea! Fie ca strigătul meu să ajungă la Tine!

2 H ide not thy face from me in the day of my distress: Incline thine ear unto me; In the day when I call answer me speedily.

Nu-Ţi ascunde faţa de mine în ziua necazului meu! Pleacă-Ţi urechea spre mine; când strig, răspunde-mi degrabă!

3 F or my days consume away like smoke, And my bones are burned as a firebrand.

Îmi pier zilele ca fumul, oasele-mi ard ca jarul.

4 M y heart is smitten like grass, and withered; For I forget to eat my bread.

Inima-mi este rănită şi se usucă ca iarba, căci uit să-mi mănânc pâinea.

5 B y reason of the voice of my groaning My bones cleave to my flesh.

Din pricina gemetelor mele mi s-au lipit oasele de carne.

6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness; I am become as an owl of the waste places.

Mă asemăn cu bufniţa din pustie; am ajuns ca o cucuvea printre dărâmături.

7 I watch, and am become like a sparrow That is alone upon the house-top.

Stau treaz şi sunt ca o pasăre singuratică pe acoperiş.

8 M ine enemies reproach me all the day; They that are mad against me do curse by me.

În fiecare zi duşmanii mei mă batjocoresc; batjocoritorii mei mă blestemă.

9 F or I have eaten ashes like bread, And mingled my drink with weeping,

Mănânc cenuşă în loc de pâine şi îmi amestec băutura cu lacrimi,

10 B ecause of thine indignation and thy wrath: For thou hast taken me up, and cast me away.

din pricina mâniei şi a urgiei Tale; căci Tu m-ai ridicat şi m-ai aruncat.

11 M y days are like a shadow that declineth; And I am withered like grass.

Zilele îmi sunt ca umbra înserării şi mă usuc ca iarba.

12 B ut thou, O Jehovah, wilt abide for ever; And thy memorial name unto all generations.

Însă Tu, Doamne, tronezi pe vecie, amintirea Ta ţine din generaţie în generaţie.

13 T hou wilt arise, and have mercy upon Zion; For it is time to have pity upon her, Yea, the set time is come.

Tu Te vei ridica şi vei avea milă de Sion, căci este timpul să te înduri de el. I-a sosit vremea!

14 F or thy servants take pleasure in her stones, And have pity upon her dust.

Slujitorii Tăi îndrăgesc pietrele Sionului şi le este milă de ţărâna lui.

15 S o the nations shall fear the name of Jehovah, And all the kings of the earth thy glory.

Neamurile se vor teme de Numele Domnului şi toţi regii pământului – de slava Lui,

16 F or Jehovah hath built up Zion; He hath appeared in his glory.

când Domnul va zidi Sionul şi Se va arăta în slava Lui.

17 H e hath regarded the prayer of the destitute, And hath not despised their prayer.

El va răspunde la rugăciunile celor nevoiaşi şi nu va dispreţui rugăciunile lor.

18 T his shall be written for the generation to come; And a people which shall be created shall praise Jehovah.

Să se scrie aceasta pentru generaţia viitoare, pentru ca poporul care se va naşte să-L laude pe Domnul!

19 F or he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; From heaven did Jehovah behold the earth;

El supraveghează din înălţimea sfinţeniei Sale; Domnul priveşte din ceruri pe pământ,

20 T o hear the sighing of the prisoner; To loose those that are appointed to death;

ca să ia aminte la gemetele prizonierilor şi să-i elibereze pe cei condamnaţi la moarte.

21 T hat men may declare the name of Jehovah in Zion, And his praise in Jerusalem;

Numele Domnului va fi vestit din Sion şi lauda Lui – din Ierusalim,

22 W hen the peoples are gathered together, And the kingdoms, to serve Jehovah.

când se vor strânge popoarele şi regatele ca să-I slujească Domnului.

23 H e weakened my strength in the way; He shortened my days.

Mi-a frânt puterea pe drum; mi-a scurtat zilele.

24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: Thy years are throughout all generations.

De aceea am zis: „Dumnezeul meu, nu mă lua la jumătatea zilelor mele, Tu, ai Cărui ani ţin din generaţie în generaţie.

25 O f old didst thou lay the foundation of the earth; And the heavens are the work of thy hands.

Tu ai întemeiat la început pământul, iar cerurile sunt lucrarea mâinilor Tale.

26 T hey shall perish, but thou shalt endure; Yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; As a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:

Ele vor pieri, dar Tu rămâi. Toate se vor învechi ca o haină. Le vei schimba ca pe un veşmânt şi ele vor trece.

27 B ut thou art the same, And thy years shall have no end.

Tu, însă, rămâi Acelaşi şi anii Tăi nu se vor sfârşi.“

28 T he children of thy servants shall continue, And their seed shall be established before thee.

Fiii slujitorilor Tăi vor locui ţara şi urmaşii lor vor rămâne înaintea Ta.
