1 T hen Job answered Jehovah, and said,

Atunci Iov I-a răspuns Domnului:

2 I know that thou canst do all things, And that no purpose of thine can be restrained.

„Ştiu că Tu poţi face orice lucru şi că nimic nu poate împiedica planurile Tale.

3 W ho is this that hideth counsel without knowledge? Therefore have I uttered that which I understood not, Things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.

Tu ai întrebat: «Cine este cel ce-Mi întunecă sfatul vorbind fără să cunoască?» Într-adevăr am spus lucruri pe care nu le-am înţeles, lucruri prea minunate pentru mine, pe care nu le-am cunoscut.

4 H ear, I beseech thee, and I will speak; I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

Tu ai zis: «Ascultă şi voi vorbi! Te voi întreba şi Mă vei învăţa.»

5 I had heard of thee by the hearing of the ear; But now mine eye seeth thee:

Urechea mea a auzit despre Tine, dar acum ochiul meu Te-a văzut.

6 W herefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes.

De aceea mă dispreţuiesc şi mă pocăiesc în ţărână şi cenuşă.“ Epilog

7 A nd it was so, that, after Jehovah had spoken these words unto Job, Jehovah said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends; for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.

După ce Domnul i-a spus aceste cuvinte lui Iov, Domnul i-a zis lui Elifaz din Teman: „Mânia Mea s-a aprins împotriva ta şi împotriva celor doi prieteni ai tăi, căci nu aţi vorbit drept despre Mine ca robul Meu Iov.

8 N ow therefore, take unto you seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt-offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you; for him will I accept, that I deal not with you after your folly; for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.

De aceea, ia acum şapte viţei şi şapte berbeci, duceţi-vă la robul Meu Iov şi aduceţi o ardere de tot pentru voi; robul Meu Iov să se roage pentru voi şi Eu voi primi rugăciunea lui şi nu vă voi face după nebunia voastră. Căci nu aţi vorbit drept despre Mine ca robul Meu Iov.“

9 S o Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as Jehovah commanded them: and Jehovah accepted Job.

Astfel Elifaz din Teman, Bildad din Şuah şi Ţofar din Naamat au făcut ceea ce le-a zis Domnul. Şi Domnul a primit rugăciunea lui Iov.

10 A nd Jehovah turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: and Jehovah gave Job twice as much as he had before.

După ce s-a rugat Iov pentru prietenii săi, Domnul i-a redat bunăstarea; i-a dat de două ori mai mult decât a avut înainte.

11 T hen came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him concerning all the evil that Jehovah had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one a ring of gold.

Toţi fraţii şi surorile sale şi oricine l-a cunoscut înainte au venit şi au mâncat cu el în casa sa. I-au arătat compasiune şi l-au mângâiat sufleteşte pentru tot necazul pe care l-a adus Domnul asupra lui. Fiecare i-a dat câte un chesita şi un inel de aur.

12 S o Jehovah blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: And he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she-asses.

Domnul a binecuvântat zilele din urmă ale lui Iov mai mult decât începutul său. El a avut paisprezece mii de oi, şase mii de cămile, o mie de boi şi o mie de măgari.

13 H e had also seven sons and three daughters.

A avut şapte fii şi trei fiice.

14 A nd he called the name of the first, Jemimah: and the name of the second, Keziah; and the name of the third, Keren-happuch.

Celei dintâi i-a pus numele Iemima, celei de-a doua Cheţia şi celei de-a treia Cheren-Hapuch.

15 A nd in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.

În toată ţara nu erau femei atât de frumoase ca fetele lui Iov, şi tatăl lor le-a dat o moştenire împreună cu fraţii lor.

16 A nd after this Job lived a hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations.

Iov a mai trăit după aceea o sută patruzeci de ani. El a văzut pe fiii săi şi pe fiii fiilor săi până la a patra generaţie.

17 S o Job died, being old and full of days.

Iov a murit înaintat în vârstă şi sătul de zile.
