1 T hese are the statutes and the ordinances which ye shall observe to do in the land which Jehovah, the God of thy fathers, hath given thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth.

Acestea sunt poruncile şi hotărârile pe care trebuie să le împliniţi în ţara pe care Domnul, Dumnezeul strămoşilor voştri, v-a dat-o în stăpânire, în toate zilele vieţii voastre pe pământ.

2 Y e shall surely destroy all the places wherein the nations that ye shall dispossess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:

Să distrugeţi complet toate locurile aflate pe munţii înalţi, pe dealuri şi sub orice copac verde, unde neamurile pe care le veţi stăpâni slujesc zeilor lor.

3 a nd ye shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and burn their Asherim with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods; and ye shall destroy their name out of that place.

Să le distrugeţi altarele, să le zdrobiţi stâlpii sacri şi să le ardeţi în foc aşerele, să le dărâmaţi chipurile cioplite ale zeilor lor şi să le nimiciţi numele din locurile acelea.

4 Y e shall not do so unto Jehovah your God.

Voi să nu vă închinaţi astfel înaintea Domnului, Dumnezeul vostru,

5 B ut unto the place which Jehovah your God shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come;

ci să-L căutaţi în locul pe care Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, îl va alege ca locuinţă din toate seminţiile, ca să-Şi aşeze Numele acolo. În acel loc să mergeţi.

6 a nd thither ye shall bring your burnt-offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill-offerings, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock:

Acolo să vă aduceţi arderile de tot, jertfele, zeciuielile, primele roade, contribuţiile pentru împlinirea jurămintelor, darurile de bunăvoie şi întâii născuţi din cirezile şi turmele voastre.

7 a nd there ye shall eat before Jehovah your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein Jehovah thy God hath blessed thee.

Acolo, în prezenţa Domnului, să mâncaţi şi să vă bucuraţi împreună cu familiile voastre de toate realizările mâinilor voastre, cu care Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, vă va fi binecuvântat.

8 Y e shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes;

Să nu faceţi aşa cum facem noi astăzi aici, unde fiecare face ce-i place,

9 f or ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which Jehovah thy God giveth thee.

deoarece n-aţi ajuns încă la locul de odihnă şi la moştenirea pe care Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, v-o dă.

10 B ut when ye go over the Jordan, and dwell in the land which Jehovah your God causeth you to inherit, and he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;

Dar, după ce veţi traversa Iordanul şi vă veţi aşeza în ţara pe care Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, v-a dat-o ca moştenire şi după ce vă va da odihnă din partea tuturor duşmanilor voştri, care vă înconjoară, ca să locuiţi în siguranţă,

11 t hen it shall come to pass that to the place which Jehovah your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, thither shall ye bring all that I command you: your burnt-offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto Jehovah.

atunci va exista un loc pe care Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, îl va alege pentru a-Şi aşeza Numele Lui. Acolo să aduceţi tot ceea ce v-am poruncit: arderea de tot, jertfele, zeciuielile, primele roade şi toate contribuţiile voastre alese, pe care le veţi aduce Domnului pentru împlinirea jurămintelor voastre.

12 A nd ye shall rejoice before Jehovah your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your men-servants, and your maid-servants, and the Levite that is within your gates, forasmuch as he hath no portion nor inheritance with you.

Să vă bucuraţi în prezenţa Domnului, Dumnezeul vostru, voi, fiii şi fiicele voastre, slujitorii şi slujitoarele voastre, precum şi leviţii din cetăţile voastre, întrucât ei n-au parte de moştenire împreună cu voi.

13 T ake heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt-offerings in every place that thou seest;

Aveţi grijă să nu jertfiţi arderile de tot în orice loc pe care îl veţi vedea,

14 b ut in the place which Jehovah shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt-offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.

ci să aduceţi arderile de tot în locul pe care Domnul îl va alege într-una din seminţiile voastre şi acolo să împliniţi tot ceea ce vă poruncesc.

15 N otwithstanding, thou mayest kill and eat flesh within all thy gates, after all the desire of thy soul, according to the blessing of Jehovah thy God which he hath given thee: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the gazelle, and as of the hart.

Totuşi toţi aceia care vor dori vor putea să jertfească şi să mănânce carne în cetăţile lor potrivit cu binecuvântarea pe care Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, le-o va da; atât cei necuraţi, cât şi cei curaţi vor putea să mănânce din carne aşa cum se mănâncă din gazelă şi din cerb.

16 O nly ye shall not eat the blood; thou shalt pour it out upon the earth as water.

Dar să nu mâncaţi sângele, ci să-l vărsaţi pe pământ aşa cum faceţi cu apa.

17 T hou mayest not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy grain, or of thy new wine, or of thine oil, or the firstlings of thy herd or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill-offerings, nor the heave-offering of thy hand;

Nu veţi putea să mâncaţi în cetăţile voastre zeciuielile din grâne, din must, din ulei, din întâii născuţi ai cirezilor şi ai turmelor voastre, nici din ceea ce aduceţi pentru împlinirea unui jurământ, nici din darurile de bunăvoie sau din contribuţiile voastre.

18 b ut thou shalt eat them before Jehovah thy God in the place which Jehovah thy God shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy man-servant, and thy maid-servant, and the Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before Jehovah thy God in all that thou puttest thy hand unto.

Pe acestea să le mâncaţi în prezenţa Domnului, Dumnezeul vostru, în locul pe care El îl va alege; să le mâncaţi atât voi, fiii şi fiicele voastre, slujitorii şi slujitoarele voastre, precum şi leviţii din cetăţile voastre. Să vă bucuraţi în prezenţa Domnului, Dumnezeul vostru, de toate realizările voastre.

19 T ake heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite as long as thou livest in thy land.

Aveţi grijă să nu-l părăsiţi niciodată pe levit în tot timpul cât veţi trăi pe pământ.

20 W hen Jehovah thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul desireth to eat flesh; thou mayest eat flesh, after all the desire of thy soul.

După ce Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, vă va mări teritoriul, aşa cum v-a promis şi veţi dori să mâncaţi carne, veţi putea să mâncaţi carne după cum doriţi.

21 I f the place which Jehovah thy God shall choose, to put his name there, be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy herd and of thy flock, which Jehovah hath given thee, as I have commanded thee; and thou mayest eat within thy gates, after all the desire of thy soul.

Dacă locul pe care Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, îl va alege pentru a-Şi aşeza Numele acolo va fi prea departe de voi, veţi putea să jertfiţi, aşa cum v-am poruncit, din cirezile şi turmele voastre, pe care El vi le-a dat şi veţi putea mânca din ele în cetăţile voastre, după cum doriţi.

22 E ven as the gazelle and as the hart is eaten, so thou shalt eat thereof: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof alike.

Dar va trebui să le mâncaţi aşa cum se mănâncă gazela şi cerbul. Vor putea mânca atât cei necuraţi, cât şi cei curaţi.

23 O nly be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou shalt not eat the life with the flesh.

Ai grijă ca nu cumva să mănânci cu sânge, deoarece sângele este viaţa; să nu mănânci viaţa împreună cu carnea.

24 T hou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it out upon the earth as water.

Să nu mănânci cu sânge, ci să verşi sângele pe pământ aşa cum faci cu apa.

25 T hou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah.

Să nu mănânci cu sânge, ca să fii fericit atât tu, cât şi urmaşii tăi, căci astfel vei înfăptui ce este drept în ochii Domnului.

26 O nly thy holy things which thou hast, and thy vows, thou shalt take, and go unto the place which Jehovah shall choose:

Însă lucrurile tale sfinte şi ceea ce vei aduce pentru împlinirea unui jurământ va trebui să le iei şi să le aduci în locul pe care Domnul îl va alege.

27 a nd thou shalt offer thy burnt-offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of Jehovah thy God; and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of Jehovah thy God; and thou shalt eat the flesh.

Să îţi aduci arderea de tot, carnea împreună cu sângele, pe altarul Domnului, Dumnezeul tău. Sângele pentru jertfă trebuie vărsat pe altarul Domnului, Dumnezeul tău, iar carnea trebuie s-o mănânci.

28 O bserve and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the eyes of Jehovah thy God.

Să păzeşti şi să asculţi toate aceste cuvinte, pe care eu ţi le poruncesc, ca să fii fericit pentru totdeauna atât tu, cât şi urmaşii tăi, înfăptuind ceea ce este bine şi drept în ochii Domnului, Dumnezeul tău.

29 W hen Jehovah thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest in to dispossess them, and thou dispossessest them, and dwellest in their land;

După ce Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, va zdrobi dinaintea voastră neamurile pe care le veţi invada ca să le stăpâniţi, după ce le veţi lua în stăpânire şi veţi locui în ţara lor,

30 t ake heed to thyself that thou be not ensnared to follow them, after that they are destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How do these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.

iar ele vor fi nimicite dinaintea voastră, aveţi grijă să nu cumva să cădeţi în capcană şi să vă luaţi după ele, spunând: «Oare cum se închinau aceste neamuri zeilor lor? Şi noi vrem să facem la fel!»

31 T hou shalt not do so unto Jehovah thy God: for every abomination to Jehovah, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters do they burn in the fire to their gods.

Voi să nu faceţi aşa faţă de Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, căci ele săvârşeau înaintea zeilor lor tot felul de lucruri îngrozitoare, pe care Domnul le urăşte. Ele îşi ardeau fiii şi fiicele în foc ca jertfe pentru zeii lor.

32 W hat thing soever I command you, that shall ye observe to do: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Voi însă să aveţi grijă să împliniţi toate lucrurile pe care vi le poruncesc. Să nu adăugaţi nimic la ele şi să nu scoateţi nimic din ele.
