1 T herefore thou shalt love Jehovah thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his ordinances, and his commandments, alway.

Să-L iubeşti pe Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, şi să păzeşti îndatoririle, hotărârile, legile şi poruncile Lui tot timpul.

2 A nd know ye this day: for I speak not with your children that have not known, and that have not seen the chastisement of Jehovah your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his outstretched arm,

Recunoaşteţi astăzi – căci nu stau de vorbă cu fiii voştri care n-au cunoscut şi nici n-au văzut nimic, ci cu voi – disciplinările Domnului, Dumnezeul vostru, măreţia Lui, mâna Lui puternică şi braţul Lui întins,

3 a nd his signs, and his works, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;

minunile şi lucrările pe care le-a înfăptuit în mijlocul Egiptului, în faţa lui Faraon, monarhul Egiptului, şi a întregii lui ţări;

4 a nd what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red Sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how Jehovah hath destroyed them unto this day;

ce a făcut oştirii egiptenilor, cailor şi carelor lor, când a năpustit peste ei apele Mării Roşii, atunci când aceştia vă urmăreau şi cum i-a nimicit până în ziua de azi;

5 a nd what he did unto you in the wilderness, until ye came unto this place;

ce v-a făcut în pustie până să ajungeţi în locul acesta;

6 a nd what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben; how the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and every living thing that followed them, in the midst of all Israel:

ce a făcut lui Datan şi lui Abiram, fiii rubenitului Eliab, când pământul s-a deschis şi i-a înghiţit împreună cu familiile, cu corturile şi cu tot ceea ce aveau în mijlocul întregului Israel.

7 b ut your eyes have seen all the great work of Jehovah which he did.

Fiindcă aţi văzut cu ochii voştri toate aceste lucrări, pe care le-a făcut Domnul,

8 T herefore shall ye keep all the commandment which I command thee this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go over to possess it;

să păziţi toate poruncile pe care eu vi le dau astăzi, ca să fiţi puternici şi să puteţi intra în posesia ţării spre care veţi trece pentru a o lua în stăpânire

9 a nd that ye may prolong your days in the land, which Jehovah sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land flowing with milk and honey.

şi ca să aveţi multe zile în ţara pe care Domnul a promis-o strămoşilor voştri că le-o va da atât lor, cât şi seminţei lor, o ţară în care curge lapte şi miere.

10 F or the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs;

Căci ţara în care veţi intra pentru a o stăpâni, nu se aseamănă cu ţara Egiptului, de unde aţi venit şi pe care aţi semănat-o şi irigat-o cu piciorul, ca pe o grădină de zarzavat.

11 b ut the land, whither ye go over to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven,

Ţara în care veţi intra ca s-o moşteniţi are munţi şi văi care adună apa ploilor.

12 a land which Jehovah thy God careth for: the eyes of Jehovah thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.

De acest ţinut se îngrijeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru. Ochii Lui veghează continuu peste el de la începutul anului până la sfârşitul lui.

13 A nd it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love Jehovah your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,

Dacă veţi împlini poruncile pe care eu vi le dau astăzi, iubindu-L pe Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, slujindu-I din toată inima şi din tot sufletul,

14 t hat I will give the rain of your land in its season, the former rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy grain, and thy new wine, and thine oil.

atunci El vă va trimite ploaie pe pământ la timpul potrivit, ploaie timpurie şi ploaie târzie, ca să puteţi strânge grânele, mustul şi uleiul

15 A nd I will give grass in thy fields for thy cattle, and thou shalt eat and be full.

şi să crească iarbă pe câmp pentru vitele voastre. Astfel veţi mânca şi vă veţi sătura.

16 T ake heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;

Fiţi atenţi să nu vă înşelaţi în inimile voastre şi astfel să vă abateţi ca să slujiţi altor dumnezei şi să vă închinaţi lor.

17 a nd the anger of Jehovah be kindled against you, and he shut up the heavens, so that there shall be no rain, and the land shall not yield its fruit; and ye perish quickly from off the good land which Jehovah giveth you.

Căci atunci mânia Domnului se va aprinde împotriva voastră; El va închide cerurile şi nu va mai ploua, iar pământul nu îşi va mai da rodul şi veţi fi nimiciţi repede din ţara cea bună pe care v-a dat-o.

18 T herefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul; and ye shall bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes.

Întipăriţi-vă cuvintele acestea în inima şi în sufletul vostru. Să vi le legaţi de mână ca semn de aducere-aminte şi să vi le fixaţi pe frunte.

19 A nd ye shall teach them your children, talking of them, when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Să-i învăţaţi pe copiii voştri, vorbindu-le despre ele când veţi fi acasă sau în călătorie, când vă veţi culca sau vă veţi trezi.

20 A nd thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates;

Să le scrieţi pe uşorii caselor voastre şi pe porţile cetăţilor voastre.

21 t hat your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which Jehovah sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.

Atunci zilele voastre şi ale urmaşilor voştri în ţara aceasta, pe care Domnul a promis-o strămoşilor voştri că le-o va da, vor dăinui cât timp va exista cer deasupra pământului.

22 F or if ye shall diligently keep all this commandment which I command you, to do it, to love Jehovah your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;

Dacă veţi păzi deci cu grijă toate aceste porunci, pe care eu vi le dau ca să le împliniţi, iubindu-L pe Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, umblând în toate căile Lui şi alipindu-vă de El,

23 t hen will Jehovah drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourselves.

atunci Domnul va izgoni toate aceste neamuri dinaintea voastră, iar voi veţi stăpâni peste aceste popoare mai mari şi mai puternice decât voi.

24 E very place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness, and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the hinder sea shall be your border.

Orice loc pe care îl va călca piciorul vostru va fi al vostru. Teritoriul vostru se va întinde din pustie până în Liban, de la râu (adică râul Eufrat) până la Marea de Apus.

25 T here shall no man be able to stand before you: Jehovah your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath spoken unto you.

Nimeni nu va putea să vi se împotrivească. Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, va răspândi frică şi teroare faţă de voi în întreaga ţară, oriunde veţi merge, după cum v-a promis.

26 B ehold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse:

Iată, pun astăzi în faţa voastră binecuvântarea şi blestemul:

27 t he blessing, if ye shall hearken unto the commandments of Jehovah your God, which I command you this day;

binecuvântarea dacă veţi asculta de poruncile Domnului, Dumnezeul vostru, pe care eu vi le dau astăzi;

28 a nd the curse, if ye shall not hearken unto the commandments of Jehovah your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

blestemul dacă nu veţi asculta de poruncile Domnului, Dumnezeul vostru, şi vă veţi abate de la calea pe care v-am poruncit-o astăzi, ducându-vă după alţi dumnezei, pe care nu i-aţi cunoscut.

29 A nd it shall come to pass, when Jehovah thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt set the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.

Când Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, vă va conduce în ţara pe care o veţi stăpâni, să rostiţi binecuvântarea pe muntele Garizim, iar blestemul pe muntele Ebal.

30 A re they not beyond the Jordan, behind the way of the going down of the sun, in the land of the Canaanites that dwell in the Arabah, over against Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh?

Munţii aceştia sunt dincolo de Iordan, dincolo de drumul ce duce spre apus, în teritoriul canaaniţilor care locuiesc în Araba, faţă în faţă cu Ghilgal, aproape de terebinţii lui More.

31 F or ye are to pass over the Jordan to go in to possess the land which Jehovah your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein.

Când veţi traversa Iordanul ca să intraţi în posesia ţării pe care Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, v-o dă, când o veţi lua în stăpânire şi veţi locui în ea,

32 A nd ye shall observe to do all the statutes and the ordinances which I set before you this day.

aveţi grijă să împliniţi toate poruncile şi hotărârile pe care vi le dau astăzi.
