1 M oreover the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

2 S on of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,

„Fiul omului, îndreaptă-ţi faţa spre muntele Seir şi profeţeşte împotriva lui!

3 a nd say unto it, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, O mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand against thee, and I will make thee a desolation and an astonishment.

Spune-i că aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Iată, sunt împotriva ta, munte al Seirului! Îmi voi întinde mâna împotriva ta şi te voi preface într-o pustietate şi într-un loc devastat!

4 I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate; and thou shalt know that I am Jehovah.

Îţi voi preface cetăţile în ruină, iar tu vei ajunge o pustietate şi vei şti atunci că Eu sunt Domnul.

5 B ecause thou hast had a perpetual enmity, and hast given over the children of Israel to the power of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time of the iniquity of the end;

Pentru că aveai o ură străveche şi i-ai doborât cu sabia pe israeliţi în vremea necazului lor, în vremea pedepsei lor finale,

6 t herefore, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: since thou hast not hated blood, therefore blood shall pursue thee.

de aceea, viu sunt Eu, zice Stăpânul Domn, că te voi îneca în sânge şi sângele te va urmări. Fiindcă nu ai urât vărsarea de sânge, aceasta te va urmări.

7 T hus will I make mount Seir an astonishment and a desolation; and I will cut off from it him that passeth through and him that returneth.

Voi preface muntele Seir într-o pustietate şi într-un loc devastat. Şi voi nimici din el pe oricine îl străbate.

8 A nd I will fill its mountains with its slain: in thy hills and in thy valleys and in all thy watercourses shall they fall that are slain with the sword.

Îi voi umple versanţii de morţii lui. Cei răpuşi de sabie vor cădea pe dealurile tale, pe văile tale şi în toate albiile tale.

9 I will make thee a perpetual desolation, and thy cities shall not be inhabited; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.

Te voi preface într-o pustietate veşnică şi cetăţile tale nu vor mai fi locuite. Şi vei şti astfel că Eu sunt Domnul.

10 B ecause thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas Jehovah was there:

Pentru că ai zis: ‘Aceste două neamuri şi aceste două ţări vor fi ale mele şi le vom lua în stăpânire!’, măcar că Domnul era încă acolo,

11 t herefore, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast showed out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I shall judge thee.

de aceea, viu sunt Eu, zice Stăpânul Domn, că-ţi voi face după mânia şi râvna pe care le-ai arătat şi tu, în ura ta faţă de ei. Şi Mă voi face cunoscut în mijlocul lor când te voi judeca.

12 A nd thou shalt know that I, Jehovah, have heard all thy revilings which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to devour.

Vei şti astfel că Eu, Domnul, am auzit toate batjocurile pe care le-ai spus despre munţii lui Israel atunci când ai zis: ‘Sunt pustiiţi, ne sunt daţi nouă să-i devorăm!’

13 A nd ye have magnified yourselves against me with your mouth, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard it.

V-aţi lăudat împotriva Mea prin vorbirea voastră şi v-aţi înmulţit cuvintele împotriva Mea, însă Eu am auzit.»

14 T hus saith the Lord Jehovah: When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.

Aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Când tot pământul se va bucura, pe tine te voi preface într-o pustietate.

15 A s thou didst rejoice over the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Edom, even all of it; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.

Pentru că te-ai bucurat când moştenirea Casei lui Israel a fost pustiită, îţi voi face şi ţie la fel. Vei ajunge o pustietate, munte Seir, tu şi tot Edomul, şi veţi şti astfel că Eu sunt Domnul. »“
