1 W hy do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate a vain thing?

De ce se întărâtă neamurile şi de ce cugetă popoarele lucruri deşarte ?

2 T he kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, saying,

Regii pământului iau poziţie şi conducătorii se strâng laolaltă împotriva Domnului şi împotriva Unsului Său, zicând:

3 L et us break their bonds asunder, And cast away their cords from us.

„Să rupem legăturile Lor şi să aruncăm funiile Lor de pe noi!“

4 H e that sitteth in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision.

Cel Ce tronează în ceruri râde; Stăpânul îşi bate joc de ei.

5 T hen will he speak unto them in his wrath, And vex them in his sore displeasure:

Apoi le vorbeşte în mânia Lui şi-i îngrozeşte în furia Lui, zicând:

6 Y et I have set my king Upon my holy hill of Zion.

„Totuşi Eu Însumi L-am înscăunat pe Împăratul Meu peste Sion, muntele Meu cel sfânt.“

7 I will tell of the decree: Jehovah said unto me, Thou art my son; This day have I begotten thee.

Voi vesti hotărârea Domnului: El Mi-a zis: „Tu eşti Fiul Meu! Astăzi Te-am născut!

8 A sk of me, and I will give thee the nations for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

Cere-Mi şi-Ţi voi da neamurile drept moştenire şi marginile pământului în stăpânire!

9 T hou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

Tu le vei zdrobi cu un toiag de fier şi le vei sfărâma ca pe vasul unui olar!“

10 N ow therefore be wise, O ye kings: Be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

De aceea, regilor, purtaţi-vă cu înţelepciune! Judecători ai pământului, luaţi învăţătură!

11 S erve Jehovah with fear, And rejoice with trembling.

Slujiţi Domnului cu frică şi bucuraţi-vă tremurând!

12 K iss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, For his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all they that take refuge in him.

Daţi sărutare Fiului, ca nu cumva să se mânie şi să pieriţi pe cale, căci mânia Lui este gata să se aprindă! Ferice de toţi cei ce-şi găsesc refugiul în El!
