1 A nd He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand.

Poi entrò di nuovo nella sinagoga; là stava un uomo che aveva la mano paralizzata.

2 S o they watched Him closely, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him.

E l’osservavano per vedere se lo avrebbe guarito in giorno di sabato, per poterlo accusare.

3 A nd He said to the man who had the withered hand, “Step forward.”

Egli disse all’uomo che aveva la mano paralizzata: «Àlzati là nel mezzo!»

4 T hen He said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they kept silent.

Poi domandò loro: «È permesso, in un giorno di sabato, fare del bene o fare del male? Salvare una persona o ucciderla?» Ma quelli tacevano.

5 A nd when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.

Allora Gesù, guardatili tutt’intorno con indignazione, rattristato per la durezza del loro cuore, disse all’uomo: «Stendi la mano!» Egli la stese, e la sua mano tornò sana.

6 T hen the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him. A Great Multitude Follows Jesus

I farisei, usciti, tennero subito consiglio con gli erodiani contro di lui per farlo morire. Numerose guarigioni

7 B ut Jesus withdrew with His disciples to the sea. And a great multitude from Galilee followed Him, and from Judea

Poi Gesù si ritirò con i suoi discepoli verso il mare; e una gran folla dalla Galilea {lo seguì}; e dalla Giudea,

8 a nd Jerusalem and Idumea and beyond the Jordan; and those from Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they heard how many things He was doing, came to Him.

da Gerusalemme, dall’Idumea e da oltre il Giordano e dai dintorni di Tiro e Sidone, una gran folla, udendo quante cose egli faceva, andò da lui.

9 S o He told His disciples that a small boat should be kept ready for Him because of the multitude, lest they should crush Him.

Egli disse ai suoi discepoli che gli tenessero sempre pronta una barchetta per non farsi pigiare dalla folla.

10 F or He healed many, so that as many as had afflictions pressed about Him to touch Him.

Perché, avendone guariti molti, tutti quelli che avevano qualche malattia gli si precipitavano addosso per toccarlo.

11 A nd the unclean spirits, whenever they saw Him, fell down before Him and cried out, saying, “You are the Son of God.”

E gli spiriti immondi, quando lo vedevano, si gettavano davanti a lui e gridavano: «Tu sei il Figlio di Dio!»

12 B ut He sternly warned them that they should not make Him known. The Twelve Apostles

Ed egli ordinava loro con insistenza di non rivelare la sua identità. Gesù sceglie i dodici apostoli

13 A nd He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him.

Poi Gesù salì sul monte e chiamò a sé quelli che egli volle, ed essi andarono da lui.

14 T hen He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach,

Ne costituì dodici, ai quali diede anche il nome di apostoli, perché stessero con lui,

15 a nd to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons:

per mandarli a predicare e perché avessero il potere di scacciare i demòni.

16 S imon, to whom He gave the name Peter;

Costituì dunque i dodici, cioè: Simone, al quale mise nome Pietro;

17 J ames the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James, to whom He gave the name Boanerges, that is, “Sons of Thunder”;

Giacomo, figlio di Zebedeo e Giovanni, fratello di Giacomo, ai quali pose nome Boanerges, che vuol dire figli del tuono;

18 A ndrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Cananite;

Andrea, Filippo, Bartolomeo, Matteo, Tommaso, Giacomo, figlio d’Alfeo, Taddeo, Simone lo Zelota

19 a nd Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him. And they went into a house. A House Divided Cannot Stand

e Giuda Iscariota, quello che poi lo tradì. Il peccato imperdonabile: la bestemmia contro lo Spirito Santo

20 T hen the multitude came together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.

Poi entrò in una casa e la folla si radunò di nuovo, così che egli e i suoi non potevano neppure mangiare.

21 B ut when His own people heard about this, they went out to lay hold of Him, for they said, “He is out of His mind.”

I suoi parenti, udito ciò, vennero per prenderlo, perché dicevano: «È fuori di sé».

22 A nd the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebub,” and, “By the ruler of the demons He casts out demons.”

Gli scribi che erano scesi da Gerusalemme dicevano: «Egli ha Belzebù, e scaccia i demòni con l’aiuto del principe dei demòni».

23 S o He called them to Himself and said to them in parables: “How can Satan cast out Satan?

Ma egli, chiamatili a sé, diceva loro in parabole: «Come può Satana scacciare Satana?

24 I f a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

Se un regno è diviso in parti contrarie, quel regno non può reggere.

25 A nd if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

Se una casa è divisa in parti contrarie, quella casa non potrà reggere.

26 A nd if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end.

Se dunque Satana insorge contro se stesso ed è diviso, non può reggere, ma deve finire.

27 N o one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house. The Unpardonable Sin

D’altronde nessuno può entrare nella casa dell’uomo forte e rubargli la sua roba, se prima non avrà legato l’uomo forte; soltanto allora gli saccheggerà la casa.

28 “ Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter;

In verità vi dico: ai figli degli uomini saranno perdonati tutti i peccati e qualunque bestemmia avranno proferita;

29 b ut he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation” —

ma chiunque avrà bestemmiato contro lo Spirito Santo non ha perdono in eterno, ma è reo di un peccato eterno ».

30 b ecause they said, “He has an unclean spirit.” Jesus’ Mother and Brothers Send for Him

Egli parlava così perché dicevano: «Ha uno spirito immondo». La madre e i fratelli di Gesù

31 T hen His brothers and His mother came, and standing outside they sent to Him, calling Him.

Giunsero sua madre e i suoi fratelli; e, fermatisi fuori, lo mandarono a chiamare.

32 A nd a multitude was sitting around Him; and they said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are outside seeking You.”

Una folla gli stava seduta intorno e gli dissero: «Ecco tua madre e i tuoi fratelli e le tue sorelle là fuori che ti cercano».

33 B ut He answered them, saying, “Who is My mother, or My brothers?”

Egli rispose loro: «Chi sono mia madre e i miei fratelli?»

34 A nd He looked around in a circle at those who sat about Him, and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers!

Girando lo sguardo su coloro che gli sedevano intorno, disse: «Ecco mia madre e i miei fratelli!

35 F or whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.”

Chiunque avrà fatto la volontà di Dio, mi è fratello, sorella e madre».
