1 T hen I turned and raised my eyes, and saw there a flying scroll.

Alzando di nuovo gli occhi, guardai, ed ecco un rotolo che volava.

2 A nd he said to me, “What do you see?” So I answered, “I see a flying scroll. Its length is twenty cubits and its width ten cubits.”

L’angelo mi disse: «Che vedi?» Io risposi: «Vedo un rotolo che vola, la cui lunghezza è di venti cubiti e la larghezza di dieci cubiti».

3 T hen he said to me, “This is the curse that goes out over the face of the whole earth: ‘Every thief shall be expelled,’ according to this side of the scroll; and, ‘Every perjurer shall be expelled,’ according to that side of it.”

Allora egli mi disse: «Questa è la maledizione che si spande su tutto il paese; poiché ogni ladro, secondo essa, sarà estirpato da questo luogo, e ogni spergiuro, secondo essa, sarà estirpato da questo luogo.

5 T hen the angel who talked with me came out and said to me, “Lift your eyes now, and see what this is that goes forth.”

L’angelo che parlava con me uscì e mi disse: «Alza gli occhi e guarda che cosa esce là».

6 S o I asked, “What is it?” And he said, “It is a basket that is going forth.” He also said, “This is their resemblance throughout the earth:

Io domandai: «Che cos’è?» Egli disse: «È l’efa che esce». Poi aggiunse: «In tutto il paese non hanno occhio che per quello».

7 H ere is a lead disc lifted up, and this is a woman sitting inside the basket”;

Ed ecco, fu alzata una piastra di piombo, e in mezzo all’efa stava seduta una donna.

8 t hen he said, “This is Wickedness!” And he thrust her down into the basket, and threw the lead cover over its mouth.

Egli disse: «Questa è la malvagità», e la gettò in mezzo all’efa; poi gettò la piastra di piombo sulla bocca dell’efa.

9 T hen I raised my eyes and looked, and there were two women, coming with the wind in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between earth and heaven.

Poi alzai gli occhi, guardai, ed ecco venire due donne: il vento soffiava nelle loro ali, e le ali che avevano erano come ali di cicogna; ed esse sollevarono l’efa fra terra e cielo.

10 S o I said to the angel who talked with me, “Where are they carrying the basket?”

Io chiesi all’angelo che parlava con me: «Dove portano l’efa?»

11 A nd he said to me, “To build a house for it in the land of Shinar; when it is ready, the basket will be set there on its base.”

Egli mi rispose: «Nel paese di Scinear, per costruirgli una casa; quando sarà preparata, esso sarà posto sopra la sua base».
