1 М ъдростта съгради дома си, Издяла седемте си стълба,

Wisdom has built her house. She has made seven pillars to hold it up.

2 З акла животните си, смеси виното си И сложи трапезата си,

She has cooked her food, and has mixed her wine, and she has set her table.

3 И зпрати слугите си, Вика по високите места на града:

She has sent out the young women who work for her. She calls from the highest places of the city,

4 К ойто е прост, нека се отбие тук. И на безумните казва:

“Whoever is easy to fool, let him turn in here!” She says to the one without understanding,

5 Е лате, яжте от хляба ми, И пийте от виното, което смесих,

“Come and eat my food, and drink the wine I have mixed.

6 О ставете глупостта и живейте, И ходете по пътя на разума,

Turn from your foolish way, and live. Walk in the way of understanding.”

7 К ойто поправя присмивателя навлича на себе си срам; И който изобличава нечестивия <лепва> на себе си петно.

He who speaks strong words to the man who laughs at the truth brings shame upon himself. He who speaks strong words to a sinful man gets hurt.

8 Н е изобличавай присмивателя, да не би да те намрази. Изобличавай мъдрия и той ще те обикне.

Do not speak strong words to a man who laughs at the truth, or he will hate you. Speak strong words to a wise man, and he will love you.

9 Д авай <наставление> на мъдрия и той ще стане по-мъдър; Учи праведния и ще стане по-учен.

Give teaching to a wise man and he will be even wiser. Teach a man who is right and good, and he will grow in learning.

10 С трах от Господа е начало на мъдростта; И познаването на Светия е разум.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. To learn about the Holy One is understanding.

11 З ащото чрез мене ще се умножат дните ти, И ще ти се притурят години на живот.

For by me your days will grow in number, and years will be added to your life.

12 А ко станеш мъдър, ще бъдеш мъдър за себе си; И ако се присмееш, ти сам ще понасяш.

If you are wise, your wisdom is a help to you. If you laugh at the truth, you alone will suffer for it.

13 Б езумната жена е бъбрица, Проста и не знае нищо.

A foolish woman makes much noise. She is open to sin, and knows nothing.

14 С еди при вратата на къщата си, На стол по високите места на града,

She sits at the door of her house or on a seat in the high places of the city.

15 И кани ония, които минават, Които вървят право в пътя си, <като им казва:>

She calls to those who pass by and are making their paths straight,

16 К ойто е прост, нека се отбие тук; А колкото за безумния, нему казва:

“Whoever is easy to fool, let him turn in here!” She says to the one without understanding,

17 К радените води са сладки, И хляб, който се яде скришом, е вкусен,

“Stolen water is sweet. And bread eaten in secret is pleasing.”

18 Н о той не знае, че мъртвите {Еврейски: Сенките.} са там, И че гостите й са в дълбочините на ада.

But he does not know that the dead are there, and that the ones who visit her are in the bottom of hell.
