1 R espondió Job, y dijo:

Then Job responded,

2 « ¡Valiente ayuda brindas al que no tiene fuerzas! ¡Eres la salvación de los brazos débiles!

“What a help you are to the weak! How you have saved the arm without strength!

3 ¡ Cómo sabes aconsejar al ignorante! ¡Qué despliegue de inteligencia has mostrado!

“What counsel you have given to one without wisdom! What helpful insight you have abundantly provided!

4 ¿ Pero quién te ha susurrado estas palabras? ¿Qué espíritu te ha llevado a pronunciarlas?

“To whom have you uttered words? And whose spirit was expressed through you? The Greatness of God

5 » Allá, en el fondo del mar profundo, un temblor sacude a los muertos que allí yacen.

“The departed spirits tremble Under the waters and their inhabitants.

6 A nte Dios, el sepulcro queda al descubierto; no hay escondite para el reino de la muerte.

“Naked is Sheol before Him, And Abaddon has no covering.

7 D ios prende el norte de la nada; la tierra pende en medio del vacío.

“He stretches out the north over empty space And hangs the earth on nothing.

8 D ios contiene las lluvias en las nubes, y éstas no se vacían, aunque estén cargadas.

“He wraps up the waters in His clouds, And the cloud does not burst under them.

9 T iende una cortina de blancas nubes, y tras ellas esconde su trono.

“He obscures the face of the full moon And spreads His cloud over it.

10 P ara las aguas ha establecido un límite, lo mismo que para la luz y las tinieblas.

“He has inscribed a circle on the surface of the waters At the boundary of light and darkness.

11 A l oír la voz de su reprensión, tiemblan de miedo las bases de los cielos.

“The pillars of heaven tremble And are amazed at His rebuke.

12 C on su poder, el mar se agita; con su astucia, aplaca su arrogancia.

“He quieted the sea with His power, And by His understanding He shattered Rahab.

13 C on su soplo, el cielo se despeja; con su poder parte en dos al monstruo del mar.

“By His breath the heavens are cleared; His hand has pierced the fleeing serpent.

14 E sto es sólo una muestra de su inmenso poder; lo que de él sabemos es apenas un susurro. La fuerza de su poder ¿quién puede comprenderla?»

“Behold, these are the fringes of His ways; And how faint a word we hear of Him! But His mighty thunder, who can understand?”
