1 M anasés tenía doce años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén cincuenta y cinco años.

Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem.

2 P ero hizo lo malo a los ojos del Señor, y cayó en las repugnantes prácticas de las naciones que el Señor había expulsado de la presencia de los israelitas,

He did evil in the sight of the Lord according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord dispossessed before the sons of Israel.

3 p ues volvió a levantar los lugares altos que su padre Ezequías había derribado, y levantó otros altares a los baales, hizo imágenes de Asera, y adoró a todo el ejército de los cielos y les rindió culto;

For he rebuilt the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down; he also erected altars for the Baals and made Asherim, and worshiped all the host of heaven and served them.

4 e dificó también altares en el templo del Señor, del cual había dicho el Señor: «Mi nombre estará en Jerusalén para siempre»,

He built altars in the house of the Lord of which the Lord had said, “My name shall be in Jerusalem forever.”

5 y en los dos atrios del templo del Señor levantó altares a todo el ejército de los cielos;

For he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord.

6 e n el valle de Ben Jinón ofreció a sus hijos en holocausto, invocaba a los espíritus, practicaba la adivinación, y consultaba a agoreros y encantadores, con lo que excedió su maldad a los ojos del Señor y despertó su ira.

He made his sons pass through the fire in the valley of Ben-hinnom; and he practiced witchcraft, used divination, practiced sorcery and dealt with mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking Him to anger.

7 P ara colmo, mandó hacer una imagen fundida y la puso en el templo de Dios, del cual Dios había dicho a David y a Salomón su hijo: «En este templo, y en Jerusalén, ciudad que elegí por encima de todas las tribus de Israel, pondré mi nombre para siempre,

Then he put the carved image of the idol which he had made in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, “ In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen from all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever;

8 y nunca más permitiré que los israelitas abandonen la tierra que yo entregué a sus padres, siempre y cuando cumplan todas las cosas, toda la ley, los estatutos y los preceptos, que por medio de Moisés yo les he mandado, y las pongan en práctica.»

and I will not again remove the foot of Israel from the land which I have appointed for your fathers, if only they will observe to do all that I have commanded them according to all the law, the statutes and the ordinances given through Moses.”

9 M anasés hizo que Judá y los habitantes de Jerusalén se descarriaran y cometieran peores cosas que las naciones que el Señor había destruido a la vista de los israelitas.

Thus Manasseh misled Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to do more evil than the nations whom the Lord destroyed before the sons of Israel. Manasseh’s Idolatry Rebuked

10 E l Señor habló con Manasés y con su pueblo, pero ellos no le hicieron caso.

The Lord spoke to Manasseh and his people, but they paid no attention.

11 P or eso el Señor lanzó contra ellos a los generales del ejército del rey de Asiria, y éstos aprisionaron a Manasés con grilletes, y encadenado lo llevaron a Babilonia.

Therefore the Lord brought the commanders of the army of the king of Assyria against them, and they captured Manasseh with hooks, bound him with bronze chains and took him to Babylon.

12 P ero en su angustia oró al Señor su Dios, y se humilló totalmente en la presencia del Dios de sus padres.

When he was in distress, he entreated the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.

13 D ios oyó su oración y le respondió permitiendo que volviera a Jerusalén y recuperara su reino. Así Manasés reconoció que el Señor era Dios.

When he prayed to Him, He was moved by his entreaty and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord was God.

14 D espués de esto, Manasés edificó la muralla exterior de la ciudad de David, desde la parte occidental de Guijón, en el valle, hasta la entrada de la puerta del Pescado; amuralló Ofel, elevó la altura de la muralla, y puso jefes militares en todas las ciudades fortificadas de Judá.

Now after this he built the outer wall of the city of David on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entrance of the Fish Gate; and he encircled the Ophel with it and made it very high. Then he put army commanders in all the fortified cities of Judah.

15 Q uitó además del templo del Señor los dioses ajenos, y el ídolo, y todos los altares que había edificado en el monte del templo del Señor y en Jerusalén, y los echó fuera de la ciudad;

He also removed the foreign gods and the idol from the house of the Lord, as well as all the altars which he had built on the mountain of the house of the Lord and in Jerusalem, and he threw them outside the city.

16 l uego reparó el altar del Señor, y presentó en él sacrificios y ofrendas de paz y de alabanza, y ordenó a Judá servir al Señor y Dios de Israel.

He set up the altar of the Lord and sacrificed peace offerings and thank offerings on it; and he ordered Judah to serve the Lord God of Israel.

17 P ero el pueblo aún sacrificaba en los lugares altos, aunque lo hacía para honrar al Señor su Dios.

Nevertheless the people still sacrificed in the high places, although only to the Lord their God.

18 L os demás hechos de Manasés, y su oración a su Dios, y las palabras de los videntes que le hablaron en nombre del Señor y Dios de Israel, se hallan escritos en las actas de los reyes de Israel.

Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh even his prayer to his God, and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of the Lord God of Israel, behold, they are among the records of the kings of Israel.

19 T ambién su oración, y cómo ésta fue oída, y todos sus pecados y rebeldías, y los sitios donde edificó lugares altos y erigió imágenes de Asera e ídolos, antes de humillarse, se hallan escritas en las crónicas de los videntes.

His prayer also and how God was entreated by him, and all his sin, his unfaithfulness, and the sites on which he built high places and erected the Asherim and the carved images, before he humbled himself, behold, they are written in the records of the Hozai.

20 F inalmente, Manasés descansó entre sus antepasados, y fue sepultado en su palacio. En su lugar reinó Amón, su hijo. Reinado de Amón

So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house. And Amon his son became king in his place. Amon Becomes King in Judah

21 A món tenía veintidós años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén dos años.

Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem.

22 P ero hizo lo malo a los ojos del Señor, tal y como lo había hecho Manasés, su padre, pues ofreció sacrificios y sirvió a todos los ídolos que su padre Manasés había mandado hacer.

He did evil in the sight of the Lord as Manasseh his father had done, and Amon sacrificed to all the carved images which his father Manasseh had made, and he served them.

23 Y nunca se humilló delante del Señor, como se humilló Manasés su padre; al contrario, aumentó el pecado.

Moreover, he did not humble himself before the Lord as his father Manasseh had done, but Amon multiplied guilt.

24 P ero sus siervos conspiraron contra él, y lo mataron en su palacio.

Finally his servants conspired against him and put him to death in his own house.

25 E ntonces el pueblo de la tierra mató a todos los que habían conspirado contra el rey Amón; y en su lugar proclamó como rey a Josías, su hijo.

But the people of the land killed all the conspirators against King Amon, and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his place.
