1 J eroboán tenía veintisiete años de reinar sobre Israel cuando Azarías hijo de Amasías comenzó a reinar sobre Judá.

In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Azariah son of Amaziah king of Judah became king.

2 A zarías tenía entonces dieciséis años, y reinó cincuenta y dos años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Jecolías, y era de Jerusalén.

He was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem; and his mother’s name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.

3 A zarías hizo lo recto a los ojos del Señor, tal y como lo había hecho Amasías, su padre.

He did right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.

4 S in embargo, no se quitaron los altares en los montes, sino que el pueblo seguía ofreciendo sacrificios y quemando incienso en esos altares.

Only the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.

5 P ero el Señor hirió al rey con lepra, y estuvo leproso hasta el día de su muerte. Vivía en una casa aparte, y su hijo Yotán estaba a cargo del palacio y de gobernar al pueblo.

The Lord struck the king, so that he was a leper to the day of his death. And he lived in a separate house, while Jotham the king’s son was over the household, judging the people of the land.

7 C uando Azarías fue a reunirse con sus antepasados, lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David, y en su lugar reinó su hijo Yotán. Reinado de Zacarías

And Azariah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David, and Jotham his son became king in his place. Zechariah over Israel

8 A zarías tenía treinta y ocho años de reinar sobre Judá cuando Zacarías hijo de Jeroboán comenzó a reinar sobre Israel, y reinó seis meses.

In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah king of Judah, Zechariah the son of Jeroboam became king over Israel in Samaria for six months.

9 P ero hizo lo malo a los ojos del Señor, tal y como lo habían hecho sus antepasados, pues no se apartó de los pecados con que Jeroboán hijo de Nabat hizo pecar a Israel.

He did evil in the sight of the Lord, as his fathers had done; he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which he made Israel sin.

10 S alún hijo de Jabés conspiró contra él, y en presencia de su pueblo le quitó la vida y reinó en su lugar.

Then Shallum the son of Jabesh conspired against him and struck him before the people and killed him, and reigned in his place.

11 L os demás hechos de Zacarías se hallan registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel.

Now the rest of the acts of Zechariah, behold they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.

12 C on su muerte se cumplió lo que el Señor le había anunciado a Jehú, cuando le dijo: «Tus hijos ocuparán el trono de Israel hasta la cuarta generación.» Y así fue. Reinado de Salún

This is the word of the Lord which He spoke to Jehu, saying, “Your sons to the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.” And so it was.

13 U zías tenía treinta y nueve años de reinar sobre Judá cuando Salún hijo de Jabés comenzó a reinar en Samaria, pero reinó sólo un mes

Shallum son of Jabesh became king in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah, and he reigned one month in Samaria.

14 p orque Menajén hijo de Gadi salió de Tirsa para atacar a Samaria. En el ataque, Menajén hirió de muerte a Salún, y entonces reinó en su lugar.

Then Menahem son of Gadi went up from Tirzah and came to Samaria, and struck Shallum son of Jabesh in Samaria, and killed him and became king in his place.

16 M enajén saqueó la ciudad de Tifesaj, y mató a todos los que estaban allí y en los alrededores, comenzando por la ciudad de Tirsa. Como no le habían abierto las puertas, saqueó la ciudad y abrió en canal a todas las mujeres que estaban embarazadas. Reinado de Menajén

Then Menahem struck Tiphsah and all who were in it and its borders from Tirzah, because they did not open to him; therefore he struck it and ripped up all its women who were with child. Menahem over Israel

17 A zarías tenía treinta y nueve años de reinar sobre Judá cuando Menajén hijo de Gadi comenzó a reinar sobre Israel, y reinó diez años en Samaria.

In the thirty-ninth year of Azariah king of Judah, Menahem son of Gadi became king over Israel and reigned ten years in Samaria.

18 P ero hizo lo malo a los ojos del Señor. Durante todo su reinado no se apartó de los pecados con que Jeroboán hijo de Nabat hizo pecar a Israel.

He did evil in the sight of the Lord; he did not depart all his days from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which he made Israel sin.

19 E l rey Pul de Asiria llegó y atacó el país, y Menajén le entregó treinta y tres mil kilos de plata para que le ayudara a confirmarse en el trono.

Pul, king of Assyria, came against the land, and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver so that his hand might be with him to strengthen the kingdom under his rule.

20 E ste dinero lo impuso Menajén como tributo sobre Israel. Todos los poderosos y opulentos tuvieron que dar cincuenta monedas de plata cada uno, para entregárselas al rey de Asiria; así el rey de Asiria no puso un pie en el país, sino que se retiró.

Then Menahem exacted the money from Israel, even from all the mighty men of wealth, from each man fifty shekels of silver to pay the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria returned and did not remain there in the land.

And Menahem slept with his fathers, and Pekahiah his son became king in his place. Pekahiah over Israel

23 A zarías tenía cincuenta años de reinar sobre Judá cuando Pecajías hijo de Menajén comenzó a reinar sobre Israel, y reinó dos años en Samaria.

In the fiftieth year of Azariah king of Judah, Pekahiah son of Menahem became king over Israel in Samaria, and reigned two years.

24 P ero hizo lo malo a los ojos del Señor, pues no se apartó de los pecados con que Jeroboán hijo de Nabat hizo pecar a Israel.

He did evil in the sight of the Lord; he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he made Israel sin.

25 P ecaj hijo de Remalías, que era uno de sus capitanes, conspiró contra él y, apoyado por Argob y Arie, más cincuenta galaaditas, le quitó la vida en el palacio real de Samaria, y reinó en su lugar.

Then Pekah son of Remaliah, his officer, conspired against him and struck him in Samaria, in the castle of the king’s house with Argob and Arieh; and with him were fifty men of the Gileadites, and he killed him and became king in his place.

27 A zarías tenía cincuenta y dos años de reinar sobre Judá cuando Pecaj hijo de Remalías comenzó a reinar sobre Israel, y reinó veinte años en Samaria.

In the fifty-second year of Azariah king of Judah, Pekah son of Remaliah became king over Israel in Samaria, and reigned twenty years.

28 P ero hizo lo malo a los ojos del Señor, pues no se apartó de los pecados con que Jeroboán hijo de Nabat hizo pecar a Israel.

He did evil in the sight of the Lord; he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he made Israel sin.

29 E n los días del rey Pecaj de Israel, el rey Tiglat Piléser de Asiria llegó y tomó las ciudades de Iyón, Abel Betmacá, Yanoja, Cedes, Jazor, Galaad, Galilea, y toda la tierra de Neftalí, y a sus habitantes los llevó cautivos a Asiria.

In the days of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria came and captured Ijon and Abel-beth-maacah and Janoah and Kedesh and Hazor and Gilead and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali; and he carried them captive to Assyria.

30 Y otán hijo de Uzías tenía veinte años de reinar cuando Oseas hijo de Elá conspiró contra Pecaj hijo de Remalías, y le quitó la vida y reinó en su lugar.

And Hoshea the son of Elah made a conspiracy against Pekah the son of Remaliah, and struck him and put him to death and became king in his place, in the twentieth year of Jotham the son of Uzziah.

32 Y otán hijo de Uzías comenzó a reinar sobre Judá cuando Pecaj hijo de Remalías tenía dos años de reinar sobre Israel,.

In the second year of Pekah the son of Remaliah king of Israel, Jotham the son of Uzziah king of Judah became king.

33 C uando Yotán comenzó a reinar, tenía veinticinco años, y reinó dieciséis años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Jerusa, y era hija de Sadoc.

He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem; and his mother’s name was Jerusha the daughter of Zadok.

34 Y Yotán hizo lo recto a los ojos del Señor, pues se condujo tal y como lo había hecho Uzías, su padre,

He did what was right in the sight of the Lord; he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done.

35 y además construyó la puerta más alta del templo del Señor. Sin embargo, no fueron quitados los altares de los montes, sino que el pueblo siguió ofreciendo sacrificios y quemando incienso en ellos.

Only the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places. He built the upper gate of the house of the Lord.

36 L os demás hechos de Yotán, y todas sus obras, se hallan registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá.

Now the rest of the acts of Jotham and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

37 P or esos días, el Señor comenzó a enviar contra Judá al rey Resín de Siria, y a Pecaj hijo de Remalías.

In those days the Lord began to send Rezin king of Aram and Pekah the son of Remaliah against Judah.

38 Y cuando Yotán fue a reunirse con sus antepasados, fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de su antepasado David, y en su lugar reinó su hijo Ajaz.

And Jotham slept with his fathers, and he was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; and Ahaz his son became king in his place.
