1 J osías celebró la pascua del Señor en Jerusalén a los catorce días del mes primero.

Then Josiah celebrated the Passover to the Lord in Jerusalem, and they slaughtered the Passover animals on the fourteenth day of the first month.

2 P uso a los sacerdotes en sus respectivos oficios, y los confirmó en el ministerio del templo del Señor.

He set the priests in their offices and encouraged them in the service of the house of the Lord.

3 A los levitas que enseñaban a todos los israelitas, y que estaban dedicados al Señor, les dijo: «Ustedes no volverán a llevar sobre los hombros el arca santa. Pónganla en el templo que edificó Salomón hijo de David, rey de Israel, y sirvan ahora al Señor su Dios, y a su pueblo Israel.

He also said to the Levites who taught all Israel and who were holy to the Lord, “Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel built; it will be a burden on your shoulders no longer. Now serve the Lord your God and His people Israel.

4 P repárense a servir por turnos y según el orden de las familias de sus padres, tal y como lo ordenaron el rey David y su hijo Salomón.

Prepare yourselves by your fathers’ households in your divisions, according to the writing of David king of Israel and according to the writing of his son Solomon.

5 Q uédense en el santuario, según la distribución de las familias de sus hermanos los hijos del pueblo, y según la distribución de la familia de los levitas.

Moreover, stand in the holy place according to the sections of the fathers’ households of your brethren the lay people, and according to the Levites, by division of a father’s household.

6 C elebren la pascua, y después de que se hayan santificado, preparen a sus hermanos para que cumplan con la palabra que el Señor nos dio por medio de Moisés.»

Now slaughter the Passover animals, sanctify yourselves and prepare for your brethren to do according to the word of the Lord by Moses.”

7 Y el rey Josías dio al pueblo allí presente treinta mil ovejas, corderos y cabritos de sus propios rebaños, y tres mil bueyes, todo para la pascua.

Josiah contributed to the lay people, to all who were present, flocks of lambs and young goats, all for the Passover offerings, numbering 30, 000 plus 3, 000 bulls; these were from the king’s possessions.

8 T ambién sus príncipes dieron con generosidad al pueblo y a los sacerdotes y levitas. Para celebrar la pascua, Hilcías, Zacarías y Yejiel, oficiales del templo de Dios, dieron a los sacerdotes dos mil seiscientas ovejas y trescientos bueyes.

His officers also contributed a freewill offering to the people, the priests and the Levites. Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel, the officials of the house of God, gave to the priests for the Passover offerings 2, 600 from the flocks and 300 bulls.

9 T ambién Conanías y sus hermanos Semaías y Natanael, y Jasabías, Yeguiel y Josabad, jefes de los levitas, dieron a los levitas cinco mil ovejas y quinientos bueyes, para los sacrificios de la pascua.

Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethanel, his brothers, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, the officers of the Levites, contributed to the Levites for the Passover offerings 5, 000 from the flocks and 500 bulls.

10 P reparado así el servicio, los sacerdotes se colocaron en sus puestos, lo mismo que los levitas, en sus turnos y conforme al mandamiento del rey.

So the service was prepared, and the priests stood at their stations and the Levites by their divisions according to the king’s command.

11 A l celebrar la pascua, los sacerdotes esparcían la sangre que recibían de manos de los levitas, mientras los levitas desollaban a las víctimas.

They slaughtered the Passover animals, and while the priests sprinkled the blood received from their hand, the Levites skinned them.

12 L uego tomaron parte del holocausto y asimismo tomaron de los bueyes, y lo repartieron según lo que les correspondía a las familias del pueblo, para que ellos ofrecieran al Señor lo que está escrito en el libro de Moisés.

Then they removed the burnt offerings that they might give them to the sections of the fathers’ households of the lay people to present to the Lord, as it is written in the book of Moses. They did this also with the bulls.

13 A saron en el fuego el sacrificio de la pascua, conforme a la ordenanza, pero lo que había sido santificado lo cocieron en ollas, en calderos y sartenes, y enseguida lo repartieron entre todo el pueblo.

So they roasted the Passover animals on the fire according to the ordinance, and they boiled the holy things in pots, in kettles, in pans, and carried them speedily to all the lay people.

14 D espués prepararon lo que a ellos mismos y a los sacerdotes les correspondía, porque los sacerdotes, hijos de Aarón, estuvieron ocupados hasta la noche en el sacrificio de los holocaustos y de las grasas. Por lo tanto, los levitas prepararon esto para ellos mismos y para los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón.

Afterwards they prepared for themselves and for the priests, because the priests, the sons of Aaron, were offering the burnt offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared for themselves and for the priests, the sons of Aaron.

15 L os cantores hijos de Asaf estaban en su puesto, conforme al mandamiento de David, de Asaf y de Hemán, y de Jedutún, el vidente del rey. Los porteros estaban en cada puerta, y no era necesario que se apartaran de su ministerio porque sus hermanos los levitas les preparaban lo que les correspondía.

The singers, the sons of Asaph, were also at their stations according to the command of David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun the king’s seer; and the gatekeepers at each gate did not have to depart from their service, because the Levites their brethren prepared for them.

16 A sí fue preparado aquel día todo el servicio del Señor, para celebrar la pascua y para sacrificar los holocaustos sobre el altar del Señor, conforme al mandamiento del rey Josías.

So all the service of the Lord was prepared on that day to celebrate the Passover, and to offer burnt offerings on the altar of the Lord according to the command of King Josiah.

17 E se día, y durante los siete días siguientes, los israelitas que estaban allí celebraron la pascua y la fiesta solemne de los panes sin levadura.

Thus the sons of Israel who were present celebrated the Passover at that time, and the Feast of Unleavened Bread seven days.

18 N unca antes, desde los días del profeta Samuel, fue celebrada en Israel una pascua como ésta, ni ningún rey de Israel celebró una pascua como la que celebró el rey Josías con los sacerdotes y levitas, y con todo Judá e Israel, y con los que se hallaban allí, y con los habitantes de Jerusalén.

There had not been celebrated a Passover like it in Israel since the days of Samuel the prophet; nor had any of the kings of Israel celebrated such a Passover as Josiah did with the priests, the Levites, all Judah and Israel who were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

19 E sta pascua se celebró en el año dieciocho del reinado de Josías. Muerte de Josías

In the eighteenth year of Josiah’s reign this Passover was celebrated. Josiah Dies in Battle

20 D espués de todo esto, y luego de que Josías había reparado el templo del Señor, el rey Necao de Egipto le presentó batalla en Carquemis, a orillas del río Éufrates. Josías salió a su encuentro,

After all this, when Josiah had set the temple in order, Neco king of Egypt came up to make war at Carchemish on the Euphrates, and Josiah went out to engage him.

21 p ero Necao envió mensajeros a decirle: «¿Qué tengo yo que ver contigo, rey de Judá? Yo no he venido hoy a atacarte, sino que vengo contra la casa que me ha declarado la guerra. Dios me ha dicho que me apresure, así que deja de oponerte a Dios, pues él está de mi parte; no vaya a suceder que él te destruya.»

But Neco sent messengers to him, saying, “ What have we to do with each other, O King of Judah? I am not coming against you today but against the house with which I am at war, and God has ordered me to hurry. Stop for your own sake from interfering with God who is with me, so that He will not destroy you.”

22 P ero Josías no se retiró ni atendió a las palabras de Necao, que eran de parte de Dios, sino que se disfrazó para presentarle batalla, y se enfrentó a él en el campo de Meguido.

However, Josiah would not turn away from him, but disguised himself in order to make war with him; nor did he listen to the words of Neco from the mouth of God, but came to make war on the plain of Megiddo.

23 Y como los arqueros disparaban sus flechas contra el rey Josías, éste les dijo a sus siervos: «Sáquenme de aquí, que estoy gravemente herido.»

The archers shot King Josiah, and the king said to his servants, “Take me away, for I am badly wounded.”

24 S us siervos lo sacaron de aquel carro, y lo pusieron en otro carro para llevarlo a Jerusalén, donde murió. Josías fue sepultado en los sepulcros de sus padres, y todo Judá y Jerusalén hicieron duelo por él.

So his servants took him out of the chariot and carried him in the second chariot which he had, and brought him to Jerusalem where he died and was buried in the tombs of his fathers. All Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

25 E n memoria de Josías, el profeta Jeremías compuso un lamento fúnebre, el cual se halla escrito en el libro de los lamentos, y hasta el día de hoy todos los cantores y cantoras recitan este lamento por Josías, que fue adoptado en Israel como el lamento oficial.

Then Jeremiah chanted a lament for Josiah. And all the male and female singers speak about Josiah in their lamentations to this day. And they made them an ordinance in Israel; behold, they are also written in the Lamentations.

26 L os demás hechos de Josías, lo mismo que sus obras piadosas conforme a lo que está escrito en la ley del Señor,

Now the rest of the acts of Josiah and his deeds of devotion as written in the law of the Lord,

27 y sus hechos, primeros y últimos, se hallan escritos en el libro de los reyes de Israel y de Judá.

and his acts, first to last, behold, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.
