1 A nd Job answereth and saith: --
Then Job responded,
2 W hat -- thou hast helped the powerless, Saved an arm not strong!
“What a help you are to the weak! How you have saved the arm without strength!
3 W hat -- thou hast given counsel to the unwise, And wise plans in abundance made known.
“What counsel you have given to one without wisdom! What helpful insight you have abundantly provided!
4 W ith whom hast thou declared words? And whose breath came forth from thee?
“To whom have you uttered words? And whose spirit was expressed through you? The Greatness of God
5 T he Rephaim are formed, Beneath the waters, also their inhabitants.
“The departed spirits tremble Under the waters and their inhabitants.
6 N aked Sheol over-against Him, And there is no covering to destruction.
“Naked is Sheol before Him, And Abaddon has no covering.
7 S tretching out the north over desolation, Hanging the earth upon nothing,
“He stretches out the north over empty space And hangs the earth on nothing.
8 B inding up the waters in His thick clouds, And the cloud is not rent under them.
“He wraps up the waters in His clouds, And the cloud does not burst under them.
9 T aking hold of the face of the throne, Spreading over it His cloud.
“He obscures the face of the full moon And spreads His cloud over it.
10 A limit He hath placed on the waters, Unto the boundary of light with darkness.
“He has inscribed a circle on the surface of the waters At the boundary of light and darkness.
11 P illars of the heavens do tremble, And they wonder because of His rebuke.
“The pillars of heaven tremble And are amazed at His rebuke.
12 B y His power He hath quieted the sea, And by His understanding smitten the proud.
“He quieted the sea with His power, And by His understanding He shattered Rahab.
13 B y His Spirit the heavens He beautified, Formed hath His hand the fleeing serpent.
“By His breath the heavens are cleared; His hand has pierced the fleeing serpent.
14 L o, these the borders of His way, And how little a matter is heard of Him, And the thunder of His might Who doth understand?
“Behold, these are the fringes of His ways; And how faint a word we hear of Him! But His mighty thunder, who can understand?”
