1 I have loved, because Jehovah heareth My voice, my supplication,

I love the Lord, because He hears My voice and my supplications.

2 B ecause He hath inclined His ear to me, And during my days I call.

Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live.

3 C ompassed me have cords of death, And straits of Sheol have found me, Distress and sorrow I find.

The cords of death encompassed me And the terrors of Sheol came upon me; I found distress and sorrow.

4 A nd in the name of Jehovah I call: I pray Thee, O Jehovah, deliver my soul,

Then I called upon the name of the Lord: “O Lord, I beseech You, save my life!”

5 G racious Jehovah, and righteous, Yea, our God merciful,

Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; Yes, our God is compassionate.

6 A preserver of the simple Jehovah, I was low, and to me He giveth salvation.

The Lord preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me.

7 T urn back, O my soul, to thy rest, For Jehovah hath conferred benefits on thee.

Return to your rest, O my soul, For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

8 F or Thou hast delivered my soul from death, My eyes from tears, my feet from overthrowing.

For You have rescued my soul from death, My eyes from tears, My feet from stumbling.

9 I walk habitually before Jehovah In the lands of the living.

I shall walk before the Lord In the land of the living.

10 I have believed, for I speak, I -- I have been afflicted greatly.

I believed when I said, “I am greatly afflicted.”

11 I said in my haste, `Every man a liar.'

I said in my alarm, “ All men are liars.”

12 W hat do I return to Jehovah? All His benefits upon me.

What shall I render to the Lord For all His benefits toward me?

13 T he cup of salvation I lift up, And in the name of Jehovah I call.

I shall lift up the cup of salvation And call upon the name of the Lord.

14 M y vows to Jehovah let me complete, I pray you, before all His people.

I shall pay my vows to the Lord, Oh may it be in the presence of all His people.

15 P recious in the eyes of Jehovah the death for His saints.

Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of His godly ones.

16 C ause to come, O Jehovah, for I Thy servant. I Thy servant, son of Thy handmaid, Thou hast opened my bonds.

O Lord, surely I am Your servant, I am Your servant, the son of Your handmaid, You have loosed my bonds.

17 T o Thee I sacrifice a sacrifice of thanks, And in the name of Jehovah I call.

To You I shall offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving, And call upon the name of the Lord.

18 M y vows to Jehovah let me complete, I pray you, before all His people,

I shall pay my vows to the Lord, Oh may it be in the presence of all His people,

19 I n the courts of the house of Jehovah, In thy midst, O Jerusalem, praise ye Jah!

In the courts of the Lord’s house, In the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise the Lord!
