1 W horedom is actually heard of among you, and such whoredom as is not even named among the nations -- as that one hath the wife of the father! --
It is actually reported that there is immorality among you, and immorality of such a kind as does not exist even among the Gentiles, that someone has his father’s wife.
2 a nd ye are having been puffed up, and did not rather mourn, that he may be removed out of the midst of you who did this work,
You have become arrogant and have not mourned instead, so that the one who had done this deed would be removed from your midst.
3 f or I indeed, as being absent as to the body, and present as to the spirit, have already judged, as being present, him who so wrought this thing:
For I, on my part, though absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged him who has so committed this, as though I were present.
4 i n the name of our Lord Jesus Christ -- ye being gathered together, also my spirit -- with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and I with you in spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus,
5 t o deliver up such a one to the Adversary for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
6 N ot good your glorying; have ye not known that a little leaven the whole lump doth leaven?
Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough ?
7 c leanse out, therefore, the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, according as ye are unleavened, for also our passover for us was sacrificed -- Christ,
Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.
8 s o that we may keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of evil and wickedness, but with unleavened food of sincerity and truth.
Therefore let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9 I did write to you in the epistle, not to keep company with whoremongers --
I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people;
10 a nd not certainly with the whoremongers of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, seeing ye ought then to go forth out of the world --
I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world.
11 a nd now, I did write to you not to keep company with, if any one, being named a brother, may be a whoremonger, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner -- with such a one not even to eat together;
But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one.
12 f or what have I also those without to judge? those within do ye not judge?
For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church ?
13 a nd those without God doth judge; and put ye away the evil from among yourselves.
But those who are outside, God judges. Remove the wicked man from among yourselves.
