2 a nd he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that Jehoiakim hath done,

He did evil in the sight of the Lord like all that Jehoiakim had done.

3 f or, because of the anger of Jehovah, it hath been in Jerusalem and Judah till He hath cast them from before His face, and Zedekiah doth rebel against the king of Babylon.

For through the anger of the Lord this came about in Jerusalem and Judah until He cast them out from His presence. And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

Now it came about in the ninth year of his reign, on the tenth day of the tenth month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, camped against it and built a siege wall all around it.

5 a nd the city cometh into siege till the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.

So the city was under siege until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.

6 I n the fourth month, in the ninth of the month, when the famine is severe in the city, and there hath been no bread for the people of the land,

On the ninth day of the fourth month the famine was so severe in the city that there was no food for the people of the land.

7 t hen is the city broken up, and all the men of war flee, and go forth from the city by night, the way of the gate between the two walls, that by the king's garden -- and the Chaldeans by the city round about -- and they go the way of the plain.

Then the city was broken into, and all the men of war fled and went forth from the city at night by way of the gate between the two walls which was by the king’s garden, though the Chaldeans were all around the city. And they went by way of the Arabah.

8 A nd the forces of the Chaldeans pursue after the king, and overtake Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho, and all his forces have been scattered from him,

But the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho, and all his army was scattered from him.

9 a nd they capture the king, and bring him up unto the king of Babylon to Riblah, in the land of Hamath, and he speaketh with him -- judgments.

Then they captured the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath, and he passed sentence on him.

10 A nd the king of Babylon slaughtereth the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and also all the princes of Judah hath he slaughtered in Riblah;

The king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and he also slaughtered all the princes of Judah in Riblah.

11 a nd the eyes of Zedekiah he hath blinded, and he bindeth him in brazen fetters, and the king of Babylon bringeth him to Babylon, and putteth him in the house of inspection unto the day of his death.

Then he blinded the eyes of Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him with bronze fetters and brought him to Babylon and put him in prison until the day of his death.

12 A nd in the fifth month, in the tenth of the month -- it the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon -- come hath Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners; he hath stood before the king of Babylon in Jerusalem,

Now on the tenth day of the fifth month, which was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan the captain of the bodyguard, who was in the service of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem.

13 a nd he burneth the house of Jehovah, and the house of the king, and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house he hath burned with fire,

He burned the house of the Lord, the king’s house and all the houses of Jerusalem; even every large house he burned with fire.

14 a nd all the walls of Jerusalem round about broken down have all the forces of the Chaldeans that with the chief of the executioners.

So all the army of the Chaldeans who were with the captain of the guard broke down all the walls around Jerusalem.

15 A nd of the poor of the people, and the remnant of the people who are left in the city, and those who are falling away, who have fallen unto the king of Babylon, and the remnant of the multitude, hath Nebuzar-Adan chief of the executioners, removed;

Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away into exile some of the poorest of the people, the rest of the people who were left in the city, the deserters who had deserted to the king of Babylon and the rest of the artisans.

16 a nd of the poor of the land hath Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, left for vine-dressers and for husbandmen.

But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left some of the poorest of the land to be vinedressers and plowmen.

17 A nd the pillars of brass that to the house of Jehovah, and the bases, and the brasen sea that in the house of Jehovah, have the Chaldeans broken, and they bear away all the brass of them to Babylon;

Now the bronze pillars which belonged to the house of the Lord and the stands and the bronze sea, which were in the house of the Lord, the Chaldeans broke in pieces and carried all their bronze to Babylon.

18 a nd the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the bowls, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass with which they minister, they have taken away;

They also took away the pots, the shovels, the snuffers, the basins, the pans and all the bronze vessels which were used in temple service.

19 a nd the basins, and the fire-pans, and the bowls, and the pots, and the candlesticks, and the spoons, and the cups, the gold of that which gold, and the silver of that which silver, hath the chief of the executioners taken.

The captain of the guard also took away the bowls, the firepans, the basins, the pots, the lampstands, the pans and the drink offering bowls, what was fine gold and what was fine silver.

20 T he two pillars, the one sea, and the twelve brazen oxen that beneath the bases, that king Solomon made for the house of Jehovah, there was no weighing of the brass of all these vessels.

The two pillars, the one sea, and the twelve bronze bulls that were under the sea, and the stands, which King Solomon had made for the house of the Lord —the bronze of all these vessels was beyond weight.

21 A s to the pillars, eighteen cubits the height of the one pillar, and a cord of twelve cubits doth compass it, and its thickness four fingers hollow.

As for the pillars, the height of each pillar was eighteen cubits, and it was twelve cubits in circumference and four fingers in thickness, and hollow.

22 A nd the chapiter upon it of brass, and the height of the one chapiter five cubits, and net-work and pomegranates on the chapiter round about, the whole of brass; and like these have the second pillar, and pomegranates.

Now a capital of bronze was on it; and the height of each capital was five cubits, with network and pomegranates upon the capital all around, all of bronze. And the second pillar was like these, including pomegranates.

23 A nd the pomegranates are ninety and six on a side, all the pomegranates a hundred on the net-work round about.

There were ninety-six exposed pomegranates; all the pomegranates numbered a hundred on the network all around.

24 A nd the chief of the executioners taketh Seraiah the head priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the threshold,

Then the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest and Zephaniah the second priest, with the three officers of the temple.

25 a nd out of the city he hath taken a certain eunuch, who hath been inspector over the men of war, and seven men of those seeing the king's face, who have been found in the city, and the head scribe of the host, who mustereth the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land, who are found in the midst of the city;

He also took from the city one official who was overseer of the men of war, and seven of the king’s advisers who were found in the city, and the scribe of the commander of the army who mustered the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land who were found in the midst of the city.

26 a nd Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, taketh them, and bringeth them unto the king of Babylon to Riblah,

Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah.

27 a nd the king of Babylon smiteth them, and putteth them to death in Riblah, in the land of Hamath, and he removeth Judah from off its own ground.

Then the king of Babylon struck them down and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was led away into exile from its land.

28 T his the people whom Nebuchadrezzar hath removed: in the seventh year, of Jews, three thousand and twenty and three;

These are the people whom Nebuchadnezzar carried away into exile: in the seventh year 3, 023 Jews;

29 i n the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar -- from Jerusalem, souls, eight hundred thirty and two;

in the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar 832 persons from Jerusalem;

30 i n the three and twentieth year of Nebuchadrezzar, hath Nebuzar-Adan chief of the guard removed of Jewish souls, seven hundred forty and five; all the souls four thousand and six hundred.

in the twenty-third year of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried into exile 745 Jewish people; there were 4, 600 persons in all.

31 A nd it cometh to pass, in the thirty and seventh year of the removal of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the twenty and fifth of the month, hath Evil-Merodach king of Babylon lifted up, in the year of his reign, the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and bringeth him out from the house of restraint,

Now it came about in the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-fifth of the month, that Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the first year of his reign, showed favor to Jehoiachin king of Judah and brought him out of prison.

32 a nd speaketh with him good things, and setteth his throne above the throne of the kings who with him in Babylon,

Then he spoke kindly to him and set his throne above the thrones of the kings who were with him in Babylon.

33 a nd he hath changed his prison garments, and he hath eaten bread before him continually, all the days of his life.

So Jehoiachin changed his prison clothes, and had his meals in the king’s presence regularly all the days of his life.

34 A nd his allowance -- a continual allowance -- hath been given to him by the king of Babylon, the matter of a day in its day, till the day of his death -- all days of his life.

For his allowance, a regular allowance was given him by the king of Babylon, a daily portion all the days of his life until the day of his death.
