1 E MPERO acerca de los tiempos y de los momentos, no tenéis, hermanos, necesidad de que yo os escriba:

You do not need anyone to write to tell you when and at what kind of times these things will happen.

2 P orque vosotros sabéis bien, que el día del Señor vendrá así como ladrón de noche,

You know for sure that the day the Lord comes back to earth will be as a robber coming in the night.

3 Q ue cuando dirán, Paz y seguridad, entonces vendrá sobre ellos destrucción de repente, como los dolores á la mujer preñada; y no escaparán.

When they say, “Everything is fine and safe,” then all at once they will be destroyed. It will be like pain that comes on a woman when a child is born. They will not be able to get away from it.

4 M as vosotros, hermanos, no estáis en tinieblas, para que aquel día os sobrecoja como ladrón;

But you are not in darkness, Christian brothers. That day will not surprise you as a robber would.

5 P orque todos vosotros sois hijos de luz, é hijos del día; no somos de la noche, ni de las tinieblas.

For you are children of the light and of the day. We are not of darkness or of night.

6 P or tanto, no durmamos como los demás; antes velemos y seamos sobrios.

Keep awake! Do not sleep like others. Watch and keep your minds awake to what is happening.

7 P orque los que duermen, de noche duermen; y los que están borrachos, de noche están borrachos.

People sleep at night. Those who get drunk do it at night.

8 M as nosotros, que somos del día, estemos sobrios, vestidos de cota de fe y de caridad, y la esperanza de salud por yelmo.

Because we are men of the day, let us keep our minds awake. Let us cover our chests with faith and love. Let us cover our heads with the hope of being saved.

9 P orque no nos ha puesto Dios para ira, sino para alcanzar salud por nuestro Señor Jesucristo;

God planned to save us from the punishment of sin through our Lord Jesus Christ. He did not plan for us to suffer from His anger.

10 E l cual murió por nosotros, para que ó que velemos, ó que durmamos, vivamos juntamente con él.

He died for us so that, dead or alive, we will be with Him.

11 P or lo cual, consolaos los unos á los otros, y edificaos los unos á los otros, así como lo hacéis.

So comfort each other and make each other strong as you are already doing. Christian Living

12 Y os rogamos, hermanos, que reconozcáis á los que trabajan entre vosotros, y os presiden en el Señor, y os amonestan:

We ask you, Christian brothers, to respect those who work among you. The Lord has placed them over you and they are your teachers.

13 Y que los tengáis en mucha estima por amor de su obra. Tened paz los unos con los otros.

You must think much of them and love them because of their work. Live in peace with each other.

14 T ambién os rogamos, hermanos, que amonestéis á los que andan desordenadamente, que consoléis á los de poco ánimo, que soportéis á los flacos, que seáis sufridos para con todos.

We ask you, Christian brothers, speak to those who do not want to work. Comfort those who feel they cannot keep going on. Help the weak. Understand and be willing to wait for all men.

15 M irad que ninguno dé á otro mal por mal; antes seguid lo bueno siempre los unos para con los otros, y para con todos.

Do not let anyone pay back for the bad he received. But look for ways to do good to each other and to all people.

16 E stad siempre gozosos.

Be full of joy all the time.

17 O rad sin cesar.

Never stop praying.

18 D ad gracias en todo; porque esta es la voluntad de Dios para con vosotros en Cristo Jesús.

In everything give thanks. This is what God wants you to do because of Christ Jesus.

19 N o apaguéis el Espíritu.

Do not try to stop the work of the Holy Spirit.

20 N o menospreciéis las profecías.

Do not laugh at those who speak for God.

21 E xaminadlo todo; retened lo bueno.

Test everything and do not let good things get away from you.

22 A partaos de toda especie de mal.

Keep away from everything that even looks like sin.

23 Y el Dios de paz os santifique en todo; para que vuestro espíritu y alma y cuerpo sea guardado entero sin reprensión para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

May the God of peace set you apart for Himself. May every part of you be set apart for God. May your spirit and your soul and your body be kept complete. May you be without blame when our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.

24 F iel es el que os ha llamado; el cual también lo hará.

The One Who called you is faithful and will do what He promised.

25 H ermanos, orad por nosotros.

Christian brothers, pray for us.

26 S aludad á todos los hermanos en ósculo santo.

Greet all the Christians with a kiss of holy love.

27 C onjúroos por el Señor, que esta carta sea leída á todos los santos hermanos.

I tell you to have this letter read to all the Christians.

28 L a gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sea con vosotros. Amén. espístola á los Tesalonicenses fué escrita de Atenas.
