1 L OS hijos de Judá: Phares, Hesrón, Carmi, Hur, y Sobal.

The sons of Judah were Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur and Shobal.

2 Y Reaías hijo de Sobal, engendró á Jahath; y Jahath engendró á Ahumai y á Laad. Estas son las familias de los Sorathitas.

Shobal’s son Reaiah was the father of Jahath. And Jahath was the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These were the families of the Zorathites.

3 Y estas son las del padre de Etham: Jezreel, Isma, é Ibdas. Y el nombre de su hermana fué Haslelponi.

The sons of Etam were Jezreel, Ishma and Idbash. The name of their sister was Hazzelelponi.

4 Y Penuel fué padre de Gedor, y Ezer padre de Husa. Estos fueron los hijos de Hur, primogénito de Ephrata, padre de Beth-lehem.

Penuel was the father of Gedor. Ezer was the father of Hushah. These were the sons of Hur, the first-born of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem.

5 Y Asur padre de Tecoa tuvo dos mujeres, á saber, Helea, y Naara.

Tekoa’s father Ashhur had two wives, Helah and Naarah.

6 Y Naara le parió á Auzam, y á Hepher, á Themeni, y á Ahastari. Estos fueron los hijos de Naara.

Naarah gave birth to Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah.

7 Y los hijos de Helea: Sereth, Jesohar, Ethnán.

The sons of Helah were Zereth, Izhar and Ethnan.

8 Y Cos engendró á Anob, y á Sobeba, y la familia de Aharhel hijo de Arum.

Koz was the father of Anub, Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.

9 Y Jabes fué más ilustre que sus hermanos, al cual su madre llamó Jabes, diciendo: Por cuanto le parí en dolor.

Jabez was more a man of honor than his brothers. His mother gave him the name Jabez, saying, “Because I gave birth to him in pain.”

10 E invocó Jabes al Dios de Israel, diciendo: ­Oh si me dieras bendición, y ensancharas mi término, y si tu mano fuera conmigo, y me libraras de mal, que no me dañe! E hizo Dios que le viniese lo que pidió.

Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “O, if only You would bring good to me and give me more land! If only Your hand might be with me, that You would keep me from being hurt!” And God gave him what he asked for.

11 Y Caleb hermano de Sua engendró á Machîr, el cual fué padre de Esthón.

Shuhah’s brother Chelub was the father of Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.

12 Y Esthón engendró á Beth-rapha, á Phasea, y á Tehinna, padre de la ciudad de Naas: estos son los varones de Rechâ.

Eshton was the father of Beth-rapha and Paseah. Tehinnah was the father of Irnahash. These are the men of Recah.

13 L os hijos de Cenes: Othniel, y Seraiah. Los hijos de Othniel: Hathath,

The sons of Kenaz were Othniel and Seraiah. Othniel’s son was Hathath.

14 Y Maonathi, el cual engendró á, Ophra: y Seraiah engendró á Joab, padre de los habitantes en el valle llamado de Carisim, porque fueron artífices.

Meonothai was the father of Ophrah. Seraiah was the father of Joab, who was the father of Ge-harashim. They were good at making things.

15 L os hijos de Caleb hijo de Jephone: Iru, Ela, y Naham; é hijo de Ela, fué Cenez.

Jephunneh’s son Caleb was the father of Iru, Elah and Naam. Elah’s son was Kenaz.

16 L os hijos de Jaleleel: Zip, Ziphas, Tirias, y Asareel.

The sons of Jehallel were Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria and Asarel.

17 Y los hijos de Ezra: Jeter, Mered, Epher, y Jalón: también engendró á Mariam, y Sammai, y á Isba, padre de Esthemoa.

The sons of Ezrah were Jether, Mered, Epher and Jalon. These are the sons of Pharaoh’s daughter Bithia, whom Mered married. She gave birth to Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.

18 Y su mujer Judaía le parió á Jered padre de Gedor, y á Heber padre de Sochô, y á Icuthiel padre de Zanoa. Estos fueron los hijos de Bethia hija de Faraón, con la cual casó Mered.

Mered’s Jewish wife gave birth to Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah.

19 Y los hijos de la mujer de Odías, hermana de Naham, fueron el padre de Keila de Garmi, y Esthemoa de Maachâti.

The sons of Hodiah’s wife, the sister of Naham, were the fathers of Keilah the Garmite and Eshtemoa the Maacathite.

20 Y los hijos de Simón: Amnón, y Rinna, hijo de Hanán, y Tilón. Y los hijos de Isi: Zoheth, y Benzoheth.

Shimon’s sons were Amnon, Rinnah, Benhanan and Tilon. The sons of Ishi were Zoheth and Ben-zoheth.

21 L os hijos de Sela, hijo de Judá: Er, padre de Lechâ, y Laada, padre de Maresa, y de la familia de la casa del oficio del lino en la casa de Asbea;

The sons of Shelah the son of Judah were Er the father of Lecah, Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of those who worked with linen at Bethashbea.

22 Y Joacim, y los varones de Chôzeba, y Joas, y Saraph, los cuales moraron en Moab, y Jasubi-lehem, que son palabras antiguas.

27 L os hijos de Simi fueron diez y seis, y seis hijas: mas sus hermanos no tuvieron muchos hijos, ni multiplicaron toda su familia como los hijos de Judá.

Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters. But his brothers did not have many children. Their whole family did not have many children, like the sons of Judah.

28 Y habitaron en Beer-seba, y en Molada, y en Hasar-sual,

They lived at Beersheba, Moladah, Hazarshual,

29 Y en Bala, y en Esem, y en Tholad,

Bilhah, Ezem, Tolad,

30 Y en Bethuel, y en Horma, y en Siclag.

Bethuel, Hormah, Ziklag,

31 Y en Beth-marchâboth, y en Hasasusim, y en Beth-birai, y en Saaraim. Estas fueron sus ciudades hasta el reino de David.

Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susim, Beth-biri, and Shaaraim. These were their cities until David ruled.

32 Y sus aldeas fueron Etam, Ain, Rimmón, y Tochên, y Asán, cinco pueblos;

Their towns were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen and Ashan, five towns.

33 Y todos su villajes que estaban en contorno de estas ciudades hasta Baal. Esta fué su habitación, y esta su descendencia.

And they had all the small towns that were around these towns as far as Baal. These were the places where they lived. And they wrote down all the names of their families.

34 Y Mesobab, y Jamlech, y Josías hijo de Amasías;

The heads of their families were Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah the son of Amaziah,

35 J oel, y Jehú hijo de Josibias, hijo de Seraíah, hijo de Aziel;

Joel, and Jehu the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel.

36 Y Elioenai, Jacoba, Jesohaía, Asaías, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaías;

And there were Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah,

37 Y Ziza hijo de Siphi, hijo de Allón, hijo de Jedaía, hijo de Simri, hijo de Semaías.

and Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah.

38 E stos por sus nombres son los principales que vinieron en sus familias, y que fueron multiplicados muy mucho en las casas de sus padres.

These were the names of the heads of their families. And many were added to their fathers’ houses.

39 Y llegaron hasta la entrada de Gador hasta el oriente del valle, buscando pastos para sus ganados.

They went to the gate of Gedor, to the east side of the valley, to look for fields for their flocks.

40 Y hallaron gruesos y buenos pastos, y tierra ancha y espaciosa, y quieta y reposada, porque los de Châm la habitaban de antes.

There they found good fields rich with grass. The land was wide and quiet, and there they had peace. For Hamites had lived there before.

41 Y estos que han sido escritos por sus nombres, vinieron en días de Ezechîas rey de Judá, y desbarataron sus tiendas y estancias que allí hallaron, y destruyéronlos, hasta hoy, y habitaron allí en lugar de ellos; por cuanto había allí pastos para sus ganados.

These whose names have been written down came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah. They destroyed their tents and the Meunites who were found there. They destroyed all of them to this day, and lived in their place because there were fields for their flocks.

42 Y asimismo quinientos hombres de ellos, de los hijos de Simeón, se fueron al monte de seir, llevando por capitanes á Pelatía, y á Nearías, y á Rephaías, y á Uzziel, hijos de Isi;

Then some of them, 500 sons of Simeon, went to Mount Seir. Their leaders were Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.

43 E hirieron á las reliquias que habían quedado de Amalec, y habitaon allí hasta hoy.

They destroyed the rest of the Amalekites who had run away to be safe. And they have lived there to this day.
