1 “ I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.

«Io sono la vera vite e il Padre mio è l'agricoltore.

2 E very branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.

Ogni tralcio che in me non porta frutto, lo toglie via; ma ogni tralcio che porta frutto, lo pota affinché ne porti ancora di più.

3 Y ou are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

Voi siete già mondi a motivo della parola che vi ho annunziata.

4 A bide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.

Dimorate in me e io dimorerò in voi; come il tralcio non può da sé portare frutto se non dimora nella vite, cosí neanche voi, se non dimorate in me.

5 I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

Io sono la vite, voi siete i tralci; chi dimora in me e io in lui, porta molto frutto, poiché senza di me non potete far nulla.

6 I f anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.

Se uno non dimora in me è gettato via come il tralcio e si secca; poi questi tralci si raccolgono, si gettano nel fuoco e sono bruciati.

7 I f you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

Se dimorate in me e le mie parole dimorano in voi, domandate quel che volete e vi sarà fatto,

8 M y Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.

In questo è glorificato il Padre mio, che portiate molto frutto, e cosí sarete miei discepoli,

9 J ust as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.

Come il Padre ha amato me, cosí io ho amato voi; dimorate nel mio amore.

10 I f you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

Se osservate i miei comandamenti, dimorerete nel mio amore, come io ho osservato i comandamenti del Padre mio e dimoro nel suo amore.

11 T hese things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. Disciples’ Relation to Each Other

Vi ho detto queste cose, affinché la mia gioia dimori in voi e la vostra gioia sia piena.

12 “ This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.

Questo è il mio comandamento: che vi amiate gli uni gli altri, come io ho amato voi,

13 G reater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

Nessuno ha amore piú grande di questo: dare la propria vita per i suoi amici.

14 Y ou are My friends if you do what I command you.

Voi siete miei amici, se fate le cose che io vi comando.

15 N o longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.

Io non vi chiamo piú servi, perché il servo non sa ciò che fa il suo padrone; ma vi ho chiamati amici, perché vi ho fatto conoscere tutte le cose che ho udito dal Padre mio.

16 Y ou did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.

Non voi avete scelto me, ma io ho scelto voi; e vi ho costituiti perché andiate e portiate frutto, e il vostro frutto sia duraturo, affinché qualunque cosa chiediate al Padre nel mio nome, egli ve la dia.

17 T his I command you, that you love one another. Disciples’ Relation to the World

Questo vi comando: che vi amiate gli uni gli altri,

18 “ If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.

Se il mondo vi odia, sappiate che ha odiato me prima di voi.

19 I f you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.

Se foste del mondo, il mondo amerebbe ciò che è suo; ma poiché non siete del mondo, ma io vi ho scelto dal mondo, perciò il mondo vi odia.

20 R emember the word that I said to you, ‘ A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also.

Ricordatevi della parola che vi ho detto: "Il servo non è piú grande del suo padrone". Se hanno perseguitato me, perseguiteranno anche voi; se hanno osservato la mia parola, osserveranno anche la vostra.

21 B ut all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know the One who sent Me.

Tutte queste cose ve le faranno a causa del mio nome, perché non conoscono colui che mi ha mandato.

22 I f I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.

Se non fossi venuto e non avessi parlato loro, non avrebbero colpa; ma ora non hanno alcuna scusa per il loro peccato.

23 H e who hates Me hates My Father also.

Chi odia me, odia anche il Padre mio.

24 I f I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated Me and My Father as well.

Se non avessi fatto in mezzo a loro le opere che nessun altro ha fatto, non avrebbero colpa; ora invece le hanno viste, e hanno odiato me e il Padre mio.

25 B ut they have done this to fulfill the word that is written in their Law, ‘ They hated Me without a cause.’

Ma questo è accaduto affinché si adempisse la parola scritta nella loro legge: "Mi hanno odiato senza motivo".

26 “ When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me,

Ma quando verrà il Consolatore, che vi manderò dal Padre, lo Spirito di verità che procede dal Padre mio, egli testimonierà di me.

27 a nd you will testify also, because you have been with Me from the beginning.

E anche voi renderete testimonianza, perché siete stati con me fin dal principio».
