The king shall joy in thy strength, O Lord; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!

2 T u gli hai concesso il desiderio del suo cuore e non gli hai rifiutato la richiesta delle sue labbra. (Sela)

Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.

3 P oiché tu gli sei venuto incontro con benedizioni di prosperità, gli hai posto sul capo una corona d'oro finissimo.

For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.

4 E gli ti aveva chiesto vita e tu gli hai dato lunghi giorni in eterno.

He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.

5 G rande è la sua gloria per la tua salvezza; tu gli hai conferito maestà e gloria,

His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.

6 p erché lo rendi grandemente benedetto per sempre, ricolmi di gioia alla tua presenza.

For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.

7 P oiché il re confida nell'Eterno e nella benignità dell'Altissimo, non sarà mai smosso.

For the king trusteth in the Lord, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.

8 L a tua mano raggiungerà tutti i tuoi nemici la tua destra raggiungerà quelli che ti odiano.

Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.

9 T u li renderai come un forno ardente, quando apparirai adirato, nella sua ira l'Eterno li inabisserà, e il fuoco li divorerà.

Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the Lord shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.

10 T u farai perire il loro frutto dalla terra e la loro progenie tra i figli degli uomini,

Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.

11 p erché hanno ordito del male contro di te e hanno ideato piani malvagi, ma non riusciranno.

For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.

12 P oiché tu farai voltar loro le spalle e punterai le frecce del tuo arco contro la loro faccia.

Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them.

13 I nnalzati, o Eterno, con la tua forza; noi canteremo e celebreremo le lodi della tua potenza.

Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.
