1 I l re Salomone regnava su tutto Israele.

So king Solomon was king over all Israel.

2 Q uesti erano i suoi alti funzionari Azariah, figlio del sacerdote Tsadok

And these were the princes which he had; Azariah the son of Zadok the priest,

3 E lihoref ed Ahijah, figli di Scisha erano segretari; Giosafat, figlio di Ahilud, era cancelliere;

Elihoreph and Ahiah, the sons of Shisha, scribes; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, the recorder.

4 B enaiah, figlio di Jehoiada, era capo dell'esercito; Tsadok e Abiathar erano sacerdoti;

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the host: and Zadok and Abiathar were the priests:

5 A zariah, figlio di Nathan, era capo dei prefetti, Zabud, figlio di Nathan, era sacerdote e consigliere personale del re.

And Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers: and Zabud the son of Nathan was principal officer, and the king's friend:

6 A hishar era maggiordomo e Adoniram, figlio di Abda, era preposto ai tributi.

And Ahishar was over the household: and Adoniram the son of Abda was over the tribute.

7 S alomone aveva dodici prefetti su tutto Israele, i quali provvedevano al mantenimento del re e della sua casa; ciascuno aveva l'incarico di provvedere per un mese all'anno.

And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, which provided victuals for the king and his household: each man his month in a year made provision.

8 Q uesti sono i loro nomi: Ben-Hur nella regione montuosa di Efraim;

And these are their names: The son of Hur, in mount Ephraim:

9 B en-Deker, a Makats, a Shaalbim, a Beth-Scemesh e a Elon di Beth-Hanan;

The son of Dekar, in Makaz, and in Shaalbim, and Bethshemesh, and Elonbethhanan:

10 B en-Hesed, ad Arubboth; a lui appartenevano Sokoh e tutto il paese di Hefer

The son of Hesed, in Aruboth; to him pertained Sochoh, and all the land of Hepher:

11 B en-Abinadab, in tutta la regione di Dor; Tafath, figlia di Salomone, era sua moglie;

The son of Abinadab, in all the region of Dor; which had Taphath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

12 B aana, figlio di Ahilud, aveva Taanak, Meghiddo e tutto Beth-Scean, che è vicino a Tsarethan, sotto Jizreel, da Beth-Scean ad Abel-Meholah, fino al di là di Jokneam;

Baana the son of Ahilud; to him pertained Taanach and Megiddo, and all Bethshean, which is by Zartanah beneath Jezreel, from Bethshean to Abelmeholah, even unto the place that is beyond Jokneam:

13 B en-Gheber, a Ramoth di Galaad; egli aveva i villaggi di Jair, figlio di Manasse, in Galaad, e anche la regione di Argob in Bashan, sessanta grandi città con mura e sbarre di bronzo;

The son of Geber, in Ramothgilead; to him pertained the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; to him also pertained the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brasen bars:

14 A hinadab, figlio di Iddo, a Mahanaim;

Ahinadab the son of Iddo had Mahanaim:

15 A himaats, in Neftali, anch'egli aveva preso in moglie Basmath, una figlia di Salomone;

Ahimaaz was in Naphtali; he also took Basmath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

16 B anah, figlio di Hushai, in Ascer e in Aloth;

Baanah the son of Hushai was in Asher and in Aloth:

17 G iosafat, figlio di Parnah, in Issacar;

Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar:

18 S cimei, figlio di Elah, in Beniamino

Shimei the son of Elah, in Benjamin:

19 G heber, figlio di Uri, nel paese di Galaad, nel paese di Sihon, re degli Amorei, e di Og, re di Bashan; egli era l'unico prefetto che c'era nel paese.

Geber the son of Uri was in the country of Gilead, in the country of Sihon king of the Amorites, and of Og king of Bashan; and he was the only officer which was in the land.

20 G iuda e Israele erano numerosi come la sabbia che è sul lido del mare. Essi mangiavano e bevevano allegramente.

Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.

21 C osí Salomone dominava su tutti i regni dal Fiume fino al paese dei Filistei e ai confini dell'Egitto. Essi gli portavano tributi e lo servirono tutti i giorni della sua vita.

And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

22 L a provvista di viveri di Salomone per ogni giorno consisteva in trenta cori di fior di farina e sessanta cori di farina ordinaria,

And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,

23 d ieci buoi ingrassati, venti buoi da pascolo e cento ovini senza contare i cervi, le gazzelle, i caprioli e il pollame ingrassato.

Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl.

24 E gli dominava su tutto il paese di qua dal Fiume, da Tifsah fino a Gaza, su tutti i re di qua dal Fiume, ed era in pace con tutti i confinanti all'intorno.

For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.

25 G iuda ed Israele, da Dan fino a Beer-Sceba, vissero al sicuro, ognuno sotto la sua vite e il suo fico, tutto il tempo che regnò Salomone.

And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.

26 S alomone aveva pure quarantamila scuderie di cavalli per i suoi carri, e dodicimila cavalieri.

And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.

27 Q uesti prefetti ciascuno nel suo mese, provvedevano al mantenimento del re Salomone e di tutti quelli che erano ammessi alla sua mensa; e non lasciavano mancare nulla.

And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon's table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.

28 F acevano anche portare l'orzo e la paglia per i cavalli e per i muli nel posto dove occorreva, ciascuno secondo gli ordini ricevuti.

Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.

29 D IO concesse a Salomone sapienza, una grandissima intelligenza e una mente vasta come la sabbia che è sulla riva del mare.

And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

30 E la sapienza di Salomone superò la sapienza di tutti i figli d'Oriente e tutta la sapienza degli Egiziani.

And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

31 E gli fu piú sapiente di ogni altro uomo: più di Ethan l'Ezrahita, piú di Heman, di Kakol e di Darda, figli di Mahol, e la sua fama si diffuse per tutte le nazioni circonvicine.

For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.

32 P ronunziò tremila proverbi e i suoi cantici furono mille e cinque.

And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.

33 P arlò degli alberi, dal cedro del Libano all'issopo che spunta dal muro; parlò pure degli animali, degli uccelli dei rettili e dei pesci.

And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes.

34 D a tutti i popoli veniva gente per udire la sapienza di Salomone, mandati da tutti i re della terra che avevano sentito parlare della sua sapienza.

And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.
