1 F inally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you,

Finalmente, hermanos, orad por nosotros, para que la palabra del Señor se extienda rápidamente y sea glorificada, así como sucedió también con vosotros;

2 a nd that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith.

y para que seamos librados de hombres perversos y malos, porque no todos tienen fe.

3 B ut the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

Pero fiel es el Señor quien os fortalecerá y protegerá del maligno.

4 A nd we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you.

Y tenemos confianza en el Señor respecto de vosotros, de que hacéis y haréis lo que ordenamos.

5 N ow may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ. Warning Against Idleness

Que el Señor dirija vuestros corazones hacia el amor de Dios y hacia la perseverancia de Cristo. Exhortación a una vida útil

6 B ut we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us.

Ahora bien, hermanos, os mandamos en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que os apartéis de todo hermano que ande desordenadamente, y no según la doctrina que recibisteis de nosotros.

7 F or you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you;

Pues vosotros mismos sabéis cómo debéis seguir nuestro ejemplo, porque no obramos de manera indisciplinada entre vosotros,

8 n or did we eat anyone’s bread free of charge, but worked with labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you,

ni comimos de balde el pan de nadie, sino que con trabajo y fatiga trabajamos día y noche a fin de no ser carga a ninguno de vosotros;

9 n ot because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us.

no porque no tengamos derecho a ello, sino para ofrecernos como modelo a vosotros a fin de que sigáis nuestro ejemplo.

10 F or even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.

Porque aun cuando estábamos con vosotros os ordenábamos esto: Si alguno no quiere trabajar, que tampoco coma.

11 F or we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies.

Porque oímos que algunos entre vosotros andan desordenadamente, sin trabajar, pero andan metiéndose en todo.

12 N ow those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread.

A tales personas les ordenamos y exhortamos en el Señor Jesucristo, que trabajando tranquilamente, coman su propio pan.

13 B ut as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.

Pero vosotros, hermanos, no os canséis de hacer el bien.

14 A nd if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed.

Y si alguno no obedece nuestra enseñanza en esta carta, señalad al tal y no os asociéis con él, para que se avergüence.

15 Y et do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. Benediction

Sin embargo, no lo tengáis por enemigo, sino amonestadle como a un hermano. Despedida y bendición final

16 N ow may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.

Y que el mismo Señor de paz siempre os conceda paz en todas las circunstancias. El Señor sea con todos vosotros.

17 T he salutation of Paul with my own hand, which is a sign in every epistle; so I write.

Yo, Pablo, escribo este saludo con mi propia mano, y ésta es una señal distintiva en todas mis cartas; así escribo yo.
