1 T hen He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.

Reuniendo a los doce, les dio poder y autoridad sobre todos los demonios y para sanar enfermedades.

2 H e sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

Y los envió a proclamar el reino de Dios y a sanar a los enfermos.

3 A nd He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece.

Y les dijo: No toméis nada para el camino, ni bordón, ni alforja, ni pan, ni dinero; ni tengáis dos túnicas cada uno.

4 “ Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart.

En cualquier casa donde entréis, quedaos allí, y sea de allí vuestra salida.

5 A nd whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them.”

Y en cuanto a los que no os reciban, al salir de esa ciudad, sacudid el polvo de vuestros pies en testimonio contra ellos.

6 S o they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere. Herod Seeks to See Jesus

Entonces salieron, e iban por las aldeas anunciando el evangelio y sanando por todas partes. Herodes oye hablar de Jesús

7 N ow Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by Him; and he was perplexed, because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead,

Herodes el tetrarca se enteró de todo lo que estaba pasando, y estaba muy perplejo, porque algunos decían que Juan había resucitado de entre los muertos,

8 a nd by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the old prophets had risen again.

otros, que Elías había aparecido, y otros, que algún profeta de los antiguos había resucitado.

9 H erod said, “John I have beheaded, but who is this of whom I hear such things?” So he sought to see Him. Feeding the Five Thousand

Entonces Herodes dijo: A Juan yo lo hice decapitar; ¿quién es, entonces, éste de quien oigo tales cosas? Y procuraba verle. Alimentación de los cinco mil

10 A nd the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.

Y cuando los apóstoles regresaron, dieron cuenta a Jesús de todo lo que habían hecho. Y El, tomándolos consigo, se retiró aparte a una ciudad llamada Betsaida.

11 B ut when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing.

Pero cuando la gente se dio cuenta de esto, le siguió; y Jesús, recibiéndolos, les hablaba del reino de Dios, y sanaba a los que tenían necesidad de ser curados.

12 W hen the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted place here.”

El día comenzaba a declinar, y acercándose los doce, le dijeron: Despide a la multitud, para que vayan a las aldeas y campos de los alrededores, y hallen alojamiento y consigan alimentos; porque aquí estamos en un lugar desierto.

13 B ut He said to them, “You give them something to eat.” And they said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we go and buy food for all these people.”

Pero El les dijo: Dadles vosotros de comer. Y ellos dijeron: No tenemos más que cinco panes y dos peces, a no ser que vayamos y compremos alimentos para toda esta gente.

14 F or there were about five thousand men. Then He said to His disciples, “Make them sit down in groups of fifty.”

(Porque había como cinco mil hombres.) Y Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: Haced que se recuesten en grupos como de cincuenta cada uno.

15 A nd they did so, and made them all sit down.

Así lo hicieron, haciendo recostar a todos.

16 T hen He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude.

Y tomando los cinco panes y los dos peces, levantando los ojos al cielo, los bendijo, y los partió, y los iba dando a los discípulos para que los sirvieran a la gente.

17 S o they all ate and were filled, and twelve baskets of the leftover fragments were taken up by them. Peter Confesses Jesus as the Christ

Todos comieron y se saciaron; y se recogieron de lo que les sobró de los pedazos: doce cestas llenas. La confesión de Pedro

18 A nd it happened, as He was alone praying, that His disciples joined Him, and He asked them, saying, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”

Y mientras Jesús oraba a solas, estaban con El los discípulos, y les preguntó, diciendo: ¿Quién dicen las multitudes que soy yo?

19 S o they answered and said, “John the Baptist, but some say Elijah; and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again.”

Entonces ellos respondieron, y dijeron: Unos, Juan el Bautista, otros, Elías, y otros, que algún profeta de los antiguos ha resucitado.

20 H e said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said, “The Christ of God.” Jesus Predicts His Death and Resurrection

Y El les dijo: Y vosotros ¿quién decís que soy yo? Y Pedro respondiendo, dijo: El Cristo de Dios.

21 A nd He strictly warned and commanded them to tell this to no one,

Pero El, advirtiéndoles severamente, les mandó que no dijeran esto a nadie,

22 s aying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.” Take Up the Cross and Follow Him

diciendo: El Hijo del Hombre debe padecer mucho, y ser rechazado por los ancianos, los principales sacerdotes y los escribas, y ser muerto, y resucitar al tercer día.

23 T hen He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

Y decía a todos: Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz cada día y sígame.

24 F or whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.

Porque el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá, pero el que pierda su vida por causa de mí, ése la salvará.

25 F or what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?

Pues, ¿de qué le sirve a un hombre haber ganado el mundo entero, si él mismo se destruye o se pierde ?

26 F or whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.

Porque el que se avergüence de mí y de mis palabras, de éste se avergonzará el Hijo del Hombre cuando venga en su gloria, y la del Padre, y la de los santos ángeles.

27 B ut I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God.” Jesus Transfigured on the Mount

Pero en verdad os digo que hay algunos de los que están aquí, que no probarán la muerte hasta que vean el reino de Dios. La transfiguración

28 N ow it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.

Y como ocho días después de estas palabras, Jesús tomó consigo a Pedro, a Juan y a Jacobo, y subió al monte a orar.

29 A s He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening.

Mientras oraba, la apariencia de su rostro se hizo otra, y su ropa se hizo blanca y resplandeciente.

30 A nd behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah,

Y he aquí, dos hombres hablaban con El, los cuales eran Moisés y Elías,

31 w ho appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.

quienes apareciendo en gloria, hablaban de la partida de Jesús, que El estaba a punto de cumplir en Jerusalén.

32 B ut Peter and those with him were heavy with sleep; and when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men who stood with Him.

Pedro y sus compañeros habían sido vencidos por el sueño, pero cuando estuvieron bien despiertos, vieron la gloria de Jesús y a los dos varones que estaban con El.

33 T hen it happened, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said.

Y sucedió que al retirarse ellos de El, Pedro dijo a Jesús: Maestro, bueno es que estemos aquí; hagamos tres enramadas, una para ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías; no sabiendo lo que decía.

34 W hile he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the cloud.

Entonces, mientras él decía esto, se formó una nube que los cubrió; y tuvieron temor al entrar en la nube.

35 A nd a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!”

Y una voz salió de la nube, que decía: Este es mi Hijo, mi Escogido; a El oíd.

36 W hen the voice had ceased, Jesus was found alone. But they kept quiet, and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen. A Boy Is Healed

Después que la voz se oyó, Jesús fue hallado solo. Ellos se lo callaron, y por aquellos días no contaron a nadie nada de lo que habían visto. Jesús sana a un muchacho endemoniado

37 N ow it happened on the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, that a great multitude met Him.

Y aconteció que al día siguiente, cuando bajaron del monte, una gran multitud le salió al encuentro.

38 S uddenly a man from the multitude cried out, saying, “Teacher, I implore You, look on my son, for he is my only child.

Y he aquí, un hombre de la multitud gritó, diciendo: Maestro, te suplico que veas a mi hijo, pues es el único que tengo,

39 A nd behold, a spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out; it convulses him so that he foams at the mouth; and it departs from him with great difficulty, bruising him.

y sucede que un espíritu se apodera de él, y de repente da gritos, y el espíritu le hace caer con convulsiones, echando espumarajos; y magullándole, a duras penas se aparta de él.

40 S o I implored Your disciples to cast it out, but they could not.”

Entonces rogué a tus discípulos que lo echaran fuera, y no pudieron.

41 T hen Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.”

Respondiendo Jesús, dijo: ¡Oh generación incrédula y perversa! ¿Hasta cuándo he de estar con vosotros y os he de soportar? Trae acá a tu hijo.

42 A nd as he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him. Then Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and gave him back to his father. Jesus Again Predicts His Death

Cuando éste se acercaba, el demonio lo derribó y lo hizo caer con convulsiones. Pero Jesús reprendió al espíritu inmundo, y sanó al muchacho y se lo devolvió a su padre.

43 A nd they were all amazed at the majesty of God. But while everyone marveled at all the things which Jesus did, He said to His disciples,

Y todos estaban admirados de la grandeza de Dios. Jesús anuncia otra vez su muerte Mientras todos se maravillaban de todas las cosas que hacía, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos:

44 “ Let these words sink down into your ears, for the Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men.”

Haced que estas palabras penetren en vuestros oídos, porque el Hijo del Hombre va a ser entregado en manos de los hombres.

45 B ut they did not understand this saying, and it was hidden from them so that they did not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask Him about this saying. Who Is the Greatest?

Pero ellos no entendían estas palabras, y les estaban veladas para que no las comprendieran; y temían preguntarle acerca de ellas. El mayor en el reino de los cielos

46 T hen a dispute arose among them as to which of them would be greatest.

Y se suscitó una discusión entre ellos, sobre quién de ellos sería el mayor.

47 A nd Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a little child and set him by Him,

Entonces Jesús, sabiendo lo que pensaban en sus corazones, tomó a un niño y lo puso a su lado,

48 a nd said to them, “Whoever receives this little child in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me. For he who is least among you all will be great.” Jesus Forbids Sectarianism

y les dijo: El que reciba a este niño en mi nombre, a mí me recibe; y el que me recibe a mí, recibe a aquel que me envió; porque el que es más pequeño entre todos vosotros, ése es grande.

49 N ow John answered and said, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us.”

Y respondiendo Juan, dijo: Maestro, vimos a uno echando fuera demonios en tu nombre, y tratamos de impedírselo porque no anda con nosotros.

50 B ut Jesus said to him, “Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side.” A Samaritan Village Rejects the Savior

Pero Jesús le dijo: No se lo impidáis; porque el que no está contra vosotros, está con vosotros. Jesús reprende a Jacobo y a Juan

51 N ow it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem,

Y sucedió que cuando se cumplían los días de su ascensión, El, con determinación, afirmó su rostro para ir a Jerusalén.

52 a nd sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him.

Y envió mensajeros delante de El; y ellos fueron y entraron en una aldea de los samaritanos para hacerle preparativos.

53 B ut they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem.

Pero no le recibieron, porque sabían que había determinado ir a Jerusalén.

54 A nd when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?”

Al ver esto, sus discípulos Jacobo y Juan, dijeron: Señor, ¿quieres que mandemos que descienda fuego del cielo y los consuma ?

55 B ut He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of.

Pero El, volviéndose, los reprendió, y dijo: Vosotros no sabéis de qué espíritu sois,

56 F or the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them. ” And they went to another village. The Cost of Discipleship

porque el Hijo del Hombre no ha venido para destruir las almas de los hombres, sino para salvarlas. Y se fueron a otra aldea. Lo que demanda el discipulado

57 N ow it happened as they journeyed on the road, that someone said to Him, “Lord, I will follow You wherever You go.”

Y mientras ellos iban por el camino, uno le dijo: Te seguiré adondequiera que vayas.

58 A nd Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”

Y Jesús le dijo: Las zorras tienen madrigueras y las aves del cielo nidos, pero el Hijo del Hombre no tiene dónde recostar la cabeza.

59 T hen He said to another, “Follow Me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”

A otro dijo: Sígueme. Pero él dijo: Señor, permíteme que vaya primero a enterrar a mi padre.

60 J esus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God.”

Mas El le dijo: Deja que los muertos entierren a sus muertos; pero tú, ve y anuncia por todas partes el reino de Dios.

61 A nd another also said, “Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house.”

También otro dijo: Te seguiré, Señor; pero primero permíteme despedirme de los de mi casa.

62 B ut Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Pero Jesús le dijo: Nadie, que después de poner la mano en el arado mira atrás, es apto para el reino de Dios.
