1 B eloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Amados, no creáis a todo espíritu, sino probad los espíritus para ver si son de Dios, porque muchos falsos profetas han salido al mundo.

2 B y this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,

En esto conocéis el Espíritu de Dios: todo espíritu que confiesa que Jesucristo ha venido en carne, es de Dios;

3 a nd every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.

y todo espíritu que no confiesa a Jesús, no es de Dios; y este es el espíritu del anticristo, del cual habéis oído que viene, y que ahora ya está en el mundo.

4 Y ou are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

Hijos míos, vosotros sois de Dios y los habéis vencido, porque mayor es el que está en vosotros que el que está en el mundo.

5 T hey are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them.

Ellos son del mundo; por eso hablan de parte del mundo, y el mundo los oye.

6 W e are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. Knowing God Through Love

Nosotros somos de Dios; el que conoce a Dios, nos oye; el que no es de Dios, no nos oye. En esto conocemos el espíritu de la verdad y el espíritu del error. Dios es amor

7 B eloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

Amados, amémonos unos a otros, porque el amor es de Dios, y todo el que ama es nacido de Dios y conoce a Dios.

8 H e who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

El que no ama no conoce a Dios, porque Dios es amor.

9 I n this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.

En esto se manifestó el amor de Dios en nosotros: en que Dios ha enviado a su Hijo unigénito al mundo para que vivamos por medio de El.

10 I n this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

En esto consiste el amor: no en que nosotros hayamos amado a Dios, sino en que El nos amó a nosotros y envió a su Hijo como propiciación por nuestros pecados.

11 B eloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. Seeing God Through Love

Amados, si Dios así nos amó, también nosotros debemos amarnos unos a otros.

12 N o one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.

A Dios nadie le ha visto jamás. Si nos amamos unos a otros, Dios permanece en nosotros y su amor se perfecciona en nosotros.

13 B y this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.

En esto sabemos que permanecemos en El y El en nosotros: en que nos ha dado de su Espíritu.

14 A nd we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.

Y nosotros hemos visto y damos testimonio de que el Padre envió al Hijo para ser el Salvador del mundo.

15 W hoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

Todo aquel que confiesa que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios, Dios permanece en él y él en Dios.

16 A nd we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. The Consummation of Love

Y nosotros hemos llegado a conocer y hemos creído el amor que Dios tiene para nosotros. Dios es amor, y el que permanece en amor permanece en Dios y Dios permanece en él.

17 L ove has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.

En esto se perfecciona el amor en nosotros, para que tengamos confianza en el día del juicio, pues como El es, así somos también nosotros en este mundo.

18 T here is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

En el amor no hay temor, sino que el perfecto amor echa fuera el temor, porque el temor involucra castigo, y el que teme no es hecho perfecto en el amor.

19 W e love Him because He first loved us. Obedience by Faith

Nosotros amamos, porque El nos amó primero.

20 I f someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

Si alguno dice: Yo amo a Dios, y aborrece a su hermano, es un mentiroso; porque el que no ama a su hermano, a quien ha visto, no puede amar a Dios a quien no ha visto.

21 A nd this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.

Y este mandamiento tenemos de El: que el que ama a Dios, ame también a su hermano.
