1 I n those days many people were gathered together. They had nothing to eat. Jesus called His followers to Him and said,

Zu der Zeit, da viel Volks da war, und hatten nichts zu essen, rief Jesus seine Jünger zu sich und sprach zu ihnen:

2 “ I pity these people because they have been with Me three days and have nothing to eat.

Mich jammert des Volks; denn sie haben nun drei Tage bei mir beharrt und haben nichts zu essen;

3 I f I send them home without food, they may be too weak as they go. Many of them have come a long way.”

und wenn ich sie ungegessen von mir heim ließe gehen, würden sie auf dem Wege verschmachten; denn etliche sind von ferne gekommen.

4 H is followers said to Him, “Where can anyone get enough bread for them here in this desert?”

Seine Jünger antworteten ihm: Woher nehmen wir Brot hier in der Wüste, daß wir sie sättigen?

5 H e asked them, “How many loaves of bread do you have?” They said, “Seven.”

Und er fragte sie: Wieviel habt ihr Brote? Sie sprachen: Sieben.

6 T hen He told the people to sit down on the ground. Jesus took the seven loaves of bread and gave thanks to God. He broke the loaves and gave them to His followers to give to the people. The followers gave the bread to them.

Und er gebot dem Volk, daß sie sich auf der Erde lagerten. Und er nahm die sieben Brote und dankte und brach sie und gab sie seinen Jüngern, daß sie dieselben vorlegten; und sie legten dem Volk vor.

7 T hey had a few small fish also. He gave thanks to God and told the followers to give the fish to them.

Und hatten ein wenig Fischlein; und er dankte und hieß die auch vortragen.

8 T hey all ate and were filled. They picked up seven baskets full of pieces of bread and fish after the people were finished eating.

Sie aßen aber und wurden satt; und hoben die übrigen Brocken auf, sieben Körbe.

9 A bout four thousand ate. Then Jesus sent the people away. The Proud Religious Law-Keepers Ask for Something Special to See

Und ihrer waren bei viertausend, die da gegessen hatten; und er ließ sie von sich.

10 A t once Jesus got in a boat with His followers and came to the country of Dalmanutha.

Und alsbald trat er in ein Schiff mit seinen Jüngern und kam in die Gegend von Dalmanutha.

11 T he proud religious law-keepers came and began to ask Him for something special to see from heaven. They wanted to trap Jesus.

Und die Pharisäer gingen heraus und fingen an, sich mit ihm zu befragen, versuchten ihn und begehrten von ihm ein Zeichen vom Himmel.

12 H e breathed deep within and said, “Why do the people of this day look for something special to see? For sure, I tell you, the people of this day will have nothing special to see from heaven.”

Und er seufzte in seinem Geist und sprach: Was sucht doch dies Geschlecht Zeichen? Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Es wird diesem Geschlecht kein Zeichen gegeben.

13 T hen He left them. He got in the boat and went to the other side of the sea. Jesus Shows That the Teaching of the Proud Religious Law-Keepers Is Wrong

Und er ließ sie und trat wiederum in das Schiff und fuhr herüber.

14 T he followers had forgotten to take bread, only one loaf was in the boat.

Und sie hatten vergessen, Brot mit sich zu nehmen, und hatten nicht mehr mit sich im Schiff denn ein Brot.

15 H e said to them, “Look out! Have nothing to do with the yeast of the proud religious law-keepers and of Herod.”

Und er gebot ihnen und sprach: Schauet zu und sehet euch vor vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer und vor dem Sauerteig des Herodes.

16 T hey talked about it among themselves. They said, “He said this because we forgot to bring bread.”

Und sie gedachten hin und her und sprachen untereinander: Das ist's, daß wir nicht Brot haben.

17 J esus knew what they were thinking. He said to them, “Why are you talking among yourselves about forgetting to bring bread? Do you not understand? Is it not plain to you? Are your hearts still hard?

Und Jesus merkte das und sprach zu ihnen: Was bekümmert ihr euch doch, daß ihr nicht Brot habt? Vernehmet ihr noch nichts und seid noch nicht verständig? Habt ihr noch ein erstarrtes Herz in euch?

18 Y ou have eyes, do you not see? You have ears, do you not hear? Do you not remember?

Ihr habt Augen, und sehet nicht, und habt Ohren, und höret nicht, und denket nicht daran,

19 W hen I divided the five loaves of bread among the five thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” They said, “Twelve.”

da ich fünf Brote brach unter fünftausend: wie viel Körbe voll Brocken hobt ihr da auf? Sie sprachen: Zwölf.

20 “ When I divided the seven loaves of bread among the four thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” They said, “Seven.”

Da ich aber sieben brach unter die viertausend, wieviel Körbe voll Brocken hobt ihr da auf? Sie sprachen: Sieben.

21 T hen He asked, “Why do you not understand yet?” Jesus Heals a Blind Man

Und er sprach zu ihnen: Wie vernehmet ihr denn nichts?

22 T hen they came to the town of Bethsaida. Some people brought a blind man to Jesus. They asked if He would touch him.

Und er kam gen Bethsaida. Und sie brachten zu ihm einen Blinden und baten ihn, daß er ihn anrührte.

23 H e took the blind man by the hand out of town. Then He spit on the eyes of the blind man and put His hands on him. He asked, “Do you see anything?”

Und er nahm den Blinden bei der Hand und führte ihn hinaus vor den Flecken; spützte in seine Augen und legte seine Hände auf ihn und fragte ihn, ob er etwas sähe?

24 T he blind man looked up and said, “I see some men. They look like trees, walking.”

Und er sah auf und sprach: Ich sehe Menschen gehen, als sähe ich Bäume.

25 J esus put His hands on the man’s eyes again and told him to look up. Then he was healed and saw everything well.

Darnach legte er abermals die Hände auf seine Augen und hieß ihn abermals sehen; und er ward wieder zurechtgebracht, daß er alles scharf sehen konnte.

26 J esus sent him to his home and said, “Do not go into the town, or tell it to anyone there.” Peter Says Jesus Is the Christ

Und er schickte ihn heim und sprach: Gehe nicht hinein in den Flecken und sage es auch niemand drinnen.

27 J esus and His followers went from there to the towns of Caesarea Philippi. As they went, He asked His followers, “Who do people say that I am?”

Und Jesus ging aus mit seinen Jüngern in die Märkte der Stadt Cäsarea Philippi. Und auf dem Wege fragte er seine Jünger und sprach zu ihnen: Wer sagen die Leute, daß ich sei?

28 T hey answered, “Some say John the Baptist and some say Elijah and others say one of the early preachers.”

Sie antworteten: Sie sagen du seiest Johannes der Täufer; etliche sagen, du seiest Elia; etliche, du seiest der Propheten einer.

29 H e said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said, “You are the Christ.”

Und er sprach zu ihnen: Ihr aber, wer sagt ihr, daß ich sei? Da antwortete Petrus und sprach zu ihm: Du bist Christus!

30 H e told them with strong words that they should tell no one about Him. Jesus Tells of His Death for the First Time

Und er bedrohte sie, daß sie niemand von ihm sagen sollten.

31 H e began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things. He told them that the leaders and the religious leaders of the Jews and the teachers of the Law would have nothing to do with Him. He told them He would be killed and three days later He would be raised from the dead.

Und er hob an sie zu lehren: Des Menschen Sohn muß viel leiden und verworfen werden von den Ältesten und Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten und getötet werden und über drei Tage auferstehen.

32 H e had said this in plain words. Peter took Him away from the others and began to speak sharp words to Him.

Und er redete das Wort frei offenbar. Und Petrus nahm ihn zu sich, fing an, ihm zu wehren.

33 J esus turned around. He looked at His followers and spoke sharp words to Peter. He said, “Get behind Me, Satan! Your thoughts are not thoughts from God but from men.” Giving Up Self and One’s Own Desires

Er aber wandte sich um und sah seine Jünger an und bedrohte Petrus und sprach: Gehe hinter mich, du Satan! denn du meinst nicht, was göttlich, sondern was menschlich ist.

34 J esus called the people and His followers to Him. He said to them, “If anyone wants to be My follower, he must give up himself and his own desires. He must take up his cross and follow Me.

Und er rief zu sich das Volk samt seinen Jüngern und sprach zu ihnen: Wer mir will nachfolgen, der verleugne sich selbst und nehme sein Kreuz auf sich und folge mir nach.

35 I f anyone wants to keep his own life safe, he will lose it. If anyone gives up his life because of Me and because of the Good News, he will save it.

Denn wer sein Leben will behalten, der wird's verlieren; und wer sein Leben verliert um meinet-und des Evangeliums willen, der wird's behalten.

36 F or what does a man have if he gets all the world and loses his own soul?

Was hülfe es dem Menschen, wenn er die ganze Welt gewönne, und nähme an seiner Seele Schaden?

37 W hat can a man give to buy back his soul?

Oder was kann der Mensch geben, damit er seine Seele löse.

38 W hoever is ashamed of Me and My Words among the sinful people of this day, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in the shining-greatness of His Father and His holy angels.”

Wer sich aber mein und meiner Worte schämt unter diesem ehebrecherischen und sündigen Geschlecht, des wird sich auch des Menschen Sohn schämen, wenn er kommen wird in der Herrlichkeit seines Vaters mit den heiligen Engeln.
