1 T hen Josiah kept the Passover to the Lord in Jerusalem. They killed the Passover animals on the fourteenth day of the first month.

Und Josia hielt dem HERRN Passah zu Jerusalem, und sie schlachteten das Passah am vierzehnten Tage des ersten Monats.

2 H e gave the religious leaders their duties and gave them strength to do the work of the Lord’s house.

Und er bestellte die Priester zu ihrem Dienst und stärkte sie zu ihrem Amt im Hause des HERRN

3 A nd he said to the Levites who taught all Israel and who were holy to the Lord, “Put the holy box of the agreement in the house which Solomon the son of David, king of Israel, built. You do not need to carry it on your shoulders any longer. Now work for the Lord your God and His people Israel.

und sprach zu den Leviten, die ganz Israel lehrten und dem HERRN geheiligt waren: Tut die heilige Lade ins Haus das Salomo, der Sohn Davids, der König Israels, gebaut hat. Ihr sollt sie nicht auf den Schultern tragen. So dienet nun dem HERRN, eurem Gott, und seinem Volk Israel

4 M ake yourselves ready by your fathers’ houses in your groups, in the way that was written by King David of Israel and his son Solomon.

und bereitet euch nach euren Vaterhäusern in euren Ordnungen, wie sie vorgeschrieben sind von David, dem König Israels, und seinem Sohn Salomo,

5 S tand in the holy place by the family groups of your brothers who are not religious leaders. And let some of the Levites help each family group of the people.

und steht im Heiligtum nach den Ordnungen der Vaterhäuser eurer Brüder, vom Volk geboren, je eine Ordnung eines Vaterhauses der Leviten,

6 N ow kill the Passover animals, and make yourselves holy. Make things ready for your brothers to obey the word of the Lord by Moses.”

und schlachtet das Passah und heiligt euch und bereitet es für eure Brüder, daß sie tun nach dem Wort des HERRN durch Mose.

7 T hen Josiah gave flocks of lambs and young goats as Passover gifts for all the people who were there. He gave 30, 000 of them, and 3, 000 bulls. These were from the king’s animals.

Und Josia gab zur Hebe für den gemeinen Mann Lämmer und junge Ziegen (alles zum Passah für alle, die vorhanden waren, an der Zahl dreißigtausend) und dreitausend Rinder, alles von dem Gut des Königs.

8 H is leaders also gave a free-will gift to the people, the religious leaders, and the Levites. Hilkiah, Zechariah and Jehiel, the leaders of the house of God, gave 2, 600 animals from the flocks and 300 bulls to the religious leaders for the Passover gifts.

Seine Fürsten aber gaben zur Hebe freiwillig für das Volk und für die Priester und Leviten. Hilkia, Sacharja und Jehiel, die Fürsten im Hause Gottes, gaben den Priestern zum Passah zweitausend und sechshundert Lämmer und Ziegen, dazu dreihundert Rinder.

9 C onaniah, and Shemaiah and Nethanel his brothers, and Hashabiah, Jeiel and Jozabad, the leaders of the Levites, gave 5, 000 animals from the flocks and 500 bulls to the Levites for the Passover gifts.

Aber Chananja, Semaja, Nathanael und seine Brüder, Hasabja, Jeiel und Josabad, der Leviten Oberste, gaben zur Hebe den Leviten zum Passah fünftausend Lämmer und Ziegen und dazu fünfhundert Rinder.

10 S o everything was made ready for the Passover. The religious leaders stood in their places, and the Levites stood by their groups, as the king had told them.

Also ward der Gottesdienst beschickt; und die Priester standen an ihrer Stätte und die Leviten in ihren Ordnungen nach dem Gebot des Königs.

11 T hen they killed the Passover animals. The religious leaders took the blood from them and put it on the altar. And the Levites cut the skins from the animals.

Und sie schlachteten das Passah, und die Priester nahmen das Blut von ihren Händen und sprengten, und die Leviten zogen die Haut ab.

12 T hey set aside the burnt gifts that they might give them to the family groups of the people, to give to the Lord, as it is written in the Book of Moses. They did the same thing with the bulls.

Und die Brandopfer taten sie davon, daß sie die gäben unter die Teile der Vaterhäuser des Volks, dem HERRN zu opfern. Wie es geschrieben steht im Buch Mose's. So taten sie mit den Rindern auch.

13 S o they cooked the Passover animals on the fire as the Law said. They boiled the holy things in pots and deep dishes, and carried them in a hurry to all the people.

Und sie kochten das Passah am Feuer, wie sich's gebührt. Aber was geheiligt war, kochten sie in Töpfen, Kesseln und Pfannen, und machten's eilend für alles Volk.

14 A fter this they made everything ready for themselves and for the religious leaders because the religious leaders, the sons of Aaron, were giving in worship the burnt gifts and the fat parts until night. So the Levites made things ready for themselves and for the religious leaders, the sons of Aaron.

Darnach aber bereiteten sie auch für sich und die Priester. Denn die Priester, die Kinder Aaron, schafften an dem Brandopfer und Fetten bis in die Nacht; darum mußten die Leviten für sich und für die Priester, die Kinder Aaron, zubereiten.

15 T he singers, the sons of Asaph, were also in their places, as had been written by David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun the king’s man of God. The men who were gate-keepers did not have to leave their duty, because their brothers the Levites made things ready for them.

Und die Sänger, die Kinder Asaph, standen an ihrer Stätte nach dem Gebot Davids und Asaphs und Hemans und Jedithuns, des Sehers des Königs, und die Torhüter an allen Toren, und sie wichen nicht von ihrem Amt; denn die Leviten, ihre Brüder, bereiteten zu für sie.

16 A ll the work of the Lord was made ready that day to keep the Passover, and to give burnt gifts on the Lord’s altar, as King Josiah had said.

Also ward beschickt der Gottesdienst des HERRN des Tages, daß man Passah hielt und Brandopfer tat auf dem Altar des HERRN nach dem Gebot des Königs Josia.

17 S o the people of Israel who were there kept the Passover at that time. And they kept the Special Supper of Bread Without Yeast for seven days.

Also hielten die Kinder Israel, die vorhanden waren, Passah zu der Zeit und das Fest der ungesäuerten Brote sieben Tage.

18 T here had not been kept a Passover like it in Israel since the days of Samuel the man of God. None of the kings of Israel had kept such a Passover as Josiah did with the religious leaders, the Levites, all Judah and Israel who were there, and the people of Jerusalem.

Es war aber kein Passah gehalten in Israel wie das, von der Zeit Samuels, des Propheten; und kein König in Israel hatte solch Passah gehalten, wie Josia Passah hielt und die Priester, Leviten, ganz Juda und was von Israel vorhanden war und die Einwohner zu Jerusalem.

19 T his Passover was kept in the eighteenth year of Josiah’s rule. The End of Josiah’s Rule

Im achtzehnten Jahr des Königreichs Josias ward dies Passah gehalten.

20 A fter all this, when Josiah had made the house of the Lord ready, King Neco of Egypt came up to make war at Carchemish on the Euphrates. And Josiah went out to fight against him.

Nach diesem, da Josia das Haus zugerichtet hatte, zog Necho, der König in Ägypten, herauf, zu streiten wider Karchemis am Euphrat. Und Josia zog aus, ihm entgegen.

21 B ut Neco sent men to him, saying, “What have we to do with each other, O King of Judah? I am not coming against you today but against the house with which I am at war, and God has told me to hurry. Do not stand in the way of God Who is with me, or He will destroy you.”

Aber er sandte Boten zu ihm und ließ ihm sagen: Was habe ich mit dir zu tun, König Juda's? ich komme jetzt nicht wider dich, sondern wider das Haus, mit dem ich Krieg habe; und Gott hat gesagt, ich soll eilen. Laß ab von Gott, der mit mir ist, daß er dich nicht verderbe!

22 B ut Josiah would not turn away from him. He made himself to look like someone else, so he could fight against him. He did not listen to the words of Neco from the mouth of God, but came to make war on the Plain of Megiddo.

Aber Josia wandte sein Angesicht nicht von ihm, sondern stellte sich, mit ihm zu streiten und gehorchte nicht den Worten Nechos aus dem Munde Gottes und kam, mit ihm zu streiten auf der Ebene bei Megiddo.

23 A nd the bowmen shot King Josiah. The king told his servants, “Take me away, for I am hurt.”

Aber die Schützen schossen den König Josia, und der König sprach zu seinen Knechten: Führt mich hinüber; denn ich bin sehr wund!

24 S o his servants took him out of the war-wagon and carried him in his second war-wagon, and brought him to Jerusalem. And there he died. He was buried in the graves of his fathers. All Judah and Jerusalem were filled with sorrow for Josiah.

Und seine Knechte taten ihn von dem Wagen und führten ihn auf seinem andern Wagen und brachten ihn gen Jerusalem; und er starb und ward begraben in den Gräbern seiner Väter. Und ganz Juda und Jerusalem trugen Leid um Josia.

25 T hen Jeremiah sang a song of sorrow for Josiah. And all the male and female singers speak about Josiah in their songs of sorrow to this day. They made them a law in Israel, and they are written in the Lamentations.

Und Jeremia beklagte Josia, und alle Sänger und Sängerinnen redeten in ihren Klageliedern über Josia bis auf diesen Tag und machten eine Gewohnheit daraus in Israel. Siehe, es ist geschrieben unter den Klageliedern.
