1 A nd there was a famine in the land, other than the former famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Gerar, to Abimelech king of the Philistines.

И настана глад по земята, освен първия глад, който беше в Авраамовите дни, та Исаак отиде в Герар, при филистимския цар Авимелех,

2 A nd the Lord appeared to him and said, Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I will tell you.

защото Господ беше му се явил и рекъл: Не слизай в Египет; живей в земята, за която ще ти кажа;

3 D well temporarily in this land, and I will be with you and will favor you with blessings; for to you and to your descendants I will give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.

остани в тая земя и Аз ще бъда с тебе и ще те благословя, защото на тебе и на потомството ти ще дам всички тия земи, в утвърждение на клетвата, с която се заклех на баща ти Авраама;

4 A nd I will make your descendants to multiply as the stars of the heavens, and will give to your posterity all these lands (kingdoms); and by your Offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, or by Him bless themselves,

и ще умножа потомството ти като небесните звезди, и ще дам на потомството ти всички тия земи; и в твоето потомство ще се благославят всичките народи на земята;

5 F or Abraham listened to and obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commands, My statutes, and My laws.

понеже Авраам послуша гласа Ми и опази заръчването Ми, заповедите Ми, повеленията Ми и законите Ми.

6 S o Isaac stayed in Gerar.

Затова Исаак се настани в Герар.

7 A nd the men of the place asked him about his wife, and he said, She is my sister; for he was afraid to say, She is my wife—, Lest the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah, because she is attractive and is beautiful to look upon.

И местните жители го запитаха за жена му; а той рече: Сестра ми е; защото се боеше да каже: Жена ми е, като си думаше: Да не би местните жители да ме убият поради Ревека; понеже тя беше красива на глед.

8 W hen he had been there a long time, Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out of a window and saw Isaac caressing Rebekah his wife.

А след като беше преседял там дълго време, филистимският цар Авимелех, като погледна от прозореца, видя, че Исаак играеше с жена си Ревека.

9 A nd Abimelech called Isaac and said, See here, she is certainly your wife! How did you say to me, She is my sister? And Isaac said to him, Because I thought, Lest I die on account of her.

Тогава Авимелех повика Исаака и рече: Ето, тя наистина ти е жена; а защо каза ти: Сестра ми е? Исаак му каза: Защото си рекох да не би да бъда убит поради нея.

10 A nd Abimelech said, What is this you have done to us? One of the men might easily have lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt and sin upon us.

И рече Авимелех: Що е това, което си ни сторил? Лесно можеше някой от людете да лежи с жена ти и ти щеше да ни навлечеш грях.

11 T hen Abimelech charged all his people, He who touches this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.

Затова Авимелех заръча на всичките люде, казвайки: Който докачи тоя човек или жена му, непременно ще се умъртви.

12 T hen Isaac sowed seed in that land and received in the same year a hundred times as much as he had planted, and the Lord favored him with blessings.

И Исаак пося в оная земя и събра през същото лято стократно; и Господ го благослови.

13 A nd the man became great and gained more and more until he became very wealthy and distinguished;

Човекът се възвеличаваше и продължаваше да става велик, догдето стана твърде велик.

14 H e owned flocks, herds, and a great supply of servants, and the Philistines envied him.

Той придоби овци, придоби и говеда, и много слуги; а филистимците му завиждаха;

15 N ow all the wells which his father’s servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had closed and filled with earth.

и филистимците затрупаха и напълниха с пръст всичките кладенци, които бащините му слуги бяха изкопали в дните на баща му Авраама.

16 A nd Abimelech said to Isaac, Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we are.

И Авимелех каза на Исаака: Иди си от нас, защото си станал много по-силен от нас.

17 S o Isaac went away from there and pitched his tent in the Valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.

Затова Исаак си отиде от там, разпъна шатрите си в Герарската долина и там живееше.

18 A nd Isaac dug again the wells of water which had been dug in the days of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham; and he gave them the names by which his father had called them.

А Исаак изкопа наново водните кладенци, които бяха изкопани в дните на баща му Авраама,(защото филистимците ги бяха затрупали след Авраамовата смърт) и нарече ги по имената, с които баща му беше ги нарекъл.

19 N ow Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and found there a well of living water.

И Исааковите слуги копаха в долината и намериха там кладенец с текуща вода.

20 A nd the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with Isaac’s herdsmen, saying, The water is ours. And he named the well Esek because they quarreled with him.

Но Герарските говедари се караха с Исааковите говедари, казвайки: Наша е водата. Затова Исаак нарече кладенеца Есен, понеже се караха за него.

21 T hen dug another well, and they quarreled over that also; so he named it Sitnah.

После изкопаха друг кладенец, но и за него се караха; затова го нарече Ситна+.

22 A nd he moved away from there and dug another well, and for that one they did not quarrel. He named it Rehoboth, saying, For now the Lord has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.

Тогава той се премести оттам и изкопа друг кладенец; и за него не се караха. И нарече го Роовот

23 N ow he went up from there to Beersheba.

От там отиде във Вирсавее.

24 A nd the Lord appeared to him the same night and said, I am the God of Abraham your father. Fear not, for I am with you and will favor you with blessings and multiply your descendants for the sake of My servant Abraham.

И Господ му се яви през същата нощ и рече: Аз съм Бог на баща ти Авраама; не бой се, защото Аз съм с тебе, ще те благословя и ще умножа твоето потомство, заради слугата ми Авраама.

25 A nd built an altar there and called on the name of the Lord and pitched his tent there; and there Isaac’s servants were digging a well.

И той издигна там олтар призова Господното име; разпъна и шатъра си там, и там Исааковите слуги изкопаха кладенец.

26 T hen Abimelech went to him from Gerar with Ahuzzah, one of his friends, and Phicol, his army’s commander.

Тогава Авимелех отиде при него от Герар с приятеля си Оховата и военачалника си Фихола

27 A nd Isaac said to them, Why have you come to me, seeing that you hate me and have sent me away from you?

И Исаак им рече: Защо сте дошли при мене, като ме мразите и ме изпъдихте изпомежду си?

28 T hey said, We saw that the Lord was certainly with you; so we said, Let there be now an oath between us, even between you and us, and let us make a covenant with you

А те казаха: Видяхме явно, че Господ е с тебе и си рекохме: Нека се положи клетва между нас, между нас и тебе, и нека направим договор с тебе,

29 T hat you will do us no harm, inasmuch as we have not touched you and have done to you nothing but good and have sent you away in peace. You are now the blessed or favored of the Lord!

че няма да ни сториш зло, както и ние не те докачихме, и както само добро ти правихме и те изпратихме с мир. Сега виждаме, че ти си благословеният от Господа.

30 A nd he made them a dinner, and they ate and drank.

Тогава Исаак им даде угощение и те ядоха и пиха.

31 A nd they rose up early in the morning and took oaths with one another; and Isaac sent them on their way and they departed from him in peace.

На сутринта станаха рано и се заклеха един за друг; после Исаак ги изпрати и те си отидоха от него с мир.

32 T hat same day Isaac’s servants came and told him about the well they had dug, saying, We have found water!

И в същия ден Исааковите слуги дойдоха и му известиха за кладенеца, който бяха изкопали и му рекоха: Намерихме вода.

33 A nd he named Shibah; therefore the name of the city is Beersheba to this day.

И нарече го Савее; от това името на града е Вирсавее до днес.

34 N ow Esau was 40 years old when he took as wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite.

А когато Исав беше на четиридесет години, взе за жена Юдита, дъщеря на хетееца Веири, и Васемата, дъщеря на хетееца Елон.

35 A nd they made life bitter and a grief of mind and spirit for Isaac and Rebekah.

Те бяха горчивина за душата на Исаака и Ревека.
