1 T he burden or oracle (the thing to be lifted up) which Habakkuk the prophet saw.

2 O Lord, how long shall I cry for help and You will not hear? Or cry out to You of violence and You will not save?

Докога, Господи, ще викам, а ти не щеш да слушаш? Викам към тебе за насилие, но не щеш да избавиш.

3 W hy do You show me iniquity and wrong, and Yourself look upon or cause me to see perverseness and trouble? For destruction and violence are before me; and there is strife, and contention arises.

Защо ми показваш беззаконие, И ме правиш да гледам извращение? Защото грабителство и насилие има пред мене, Има и каране, и препирня се повдига.

4 T herefore the law is slackened and justice and a righteous sentence never go forth, for the wicked surrounds the righteous; therefore justice goes forth perverted.

Затова, законът е отслабнал, И правосъдието не излиза към победа; Защото нечестивите окръжават праведния, Та правосъдието излиза извратено.

5 L ook around among the nations and see! And be astonished! Astounded! For I am putting into effect a work in your days that you would not believe it if it were told you.

Погледнете между народите, вникнете, И се очудете много; Защото Аз ще извърша едно дело във вашите дни, Което няма да повярвате ако и да ви се разкаже.

6 F or behold, I am rousing up the Chaldeans, that bitter and impetuous nation who march through the breadth of the earth to take possession of dwelling places that do not belong to them.

Защото, ето, аз повдигам Халдейците, Оня лют и нетърпелив народ, Който минава през широчината на света, За да завладее селища, които не са негови.

7 a re terrible and dreadful; their justice and dignity proceed from themselves.

Страшни и ужасни са те; Съдът им и властта им произлизат от сами тях.

8 T heir horses also are swifter than leopards and are fiercer than the evening wolves, and their horsemen spread themselves and press on proudly; yes, their horsemen come from afar; they fly like an eagle that hastens to devour.

Конете им са по-бързи от леопарди, И по-свирепи от вечерни вълци; Конниците им скачат отпуснато, Да! конниците им идат от далеч, Летят като орел, който спеши да разкъсва.

9 T hey all come for violence; their faces turn eagerly forward, and they gather prisoners together like sand.

Всички идат да насилстват; Лицата им са насочени на напред, И събират пленници като пясък.

10 T hey scoff at kings, and rulers are a derision to them; they ridicule every stronghold, for they heap up dust and take it.

Те се присмиват на царете, И първенците са за тях подигравка; Присмиват се на всяка крепост, Защото, като издигат грамади от пръст, превземат я.

11 T hen they sweep by like a wind and pass on, and they load themselves with guilt, whose own power is their god.

Тогава духът му се изменя; Преминава като завоевател, и върши нечестие, Като прави силата си свой бог.

12 A re not You from everlasting, O Lord my God, my Holy One? We shall not die. O Lord, You have appointed to execute judgment, and You, O Rock, have established him for chastisement and correction.

Не си ли ти от века, Господи Боже мой, Светий мой! Няма да умрем. Ти, Господи, си ги определил да извършат твоите съдби над нас; И ти Могъщи, си ги поставил за наше наказание.

13 Y ou are of purer eyes than to behold evil and can not look upon injustice. Why then do You look upon the plunderer? Why are you silent when the wicked one destroys him who is more righteous than is?

Тъй като очите ти са твърде чисти, за да гледаш злото, И не можеш да погледнеш извращението, Защо гледаш на беззаконниците, И мълчиш, когато нечестивият поглъща по-праведния от себе си,

14 W hy do You make men like the fish of the sea, like reptiles and creeping things that have no ruler ?

И правиш човеците като морските риби, Като гадините, които си нямат управител?

15 b rings all of them up with his hook; he catches and drags them out with his net, he gathers them in his dragnet; so he rejoices and is in high spirits.

Халдеецът изтръгва всичките с въдица, Влачи ги в мрежата си, И ги събира в невода си; За това се весели и се радва.

16 T herefore he sacrifices to his net and burns incense to his dragnet, because from them he lives luxuriously and his food is plentiful and rich.

По тая причина жертва на мрежата си, И гори тамян на невода си; Защото чрез тях делът му е тлъст, И ястието му отбрано.

17 S hall he therefore continue to empty his net and mercilessly go on slaying the nations forever?

Но дали за това ще изпразва мрежата си, И престане от милост да убива постоянно народите?
