1 D i Davide, quando si finse pazzo davanti ad Abimelec e, scacciato da lui, se ne andò. Io benedirò il Signore in ogni tempo; la sua lode sarà sempre nella mia bocca.

I will bless Jehovah at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

2 I o mi glorierò nel Signore; gli umili lo udranno e si rallegreranno.

My soul shall make her boast in Jehovah: The meek shall hear thereof, and be glad.

3 C elebrate con me il Signore, esaltiamo il suo nome tutti insieme.

Oh magnify Jehovah with me, And let us exalt his name together.

4 H o cercato il Signore, ed egli m’ha risposto; m’ha liberato da tutto ciò che m’incuteva terrore.

I sought Jehovah, and he answered me, And delivered me from all my fears.

5 Q uelli che lo guardano sono illuminati, nei loro volti non c’è delusione.

They looked unto him, and were radiant; And their faces shall never be confounded.

6 Q uest’afflitto ha gridato, e il Signore l’ha esaudito; l’ha salvato da tutte le sue disgrazie.

This poor man cried, and Jehovah heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles.

7 L ’angelo del Signore si accampa intorno a quelli che lo temono, e li libera.

The angel of Jehovah encampeth round about them that fear him, And delivereth them.

8 P rovate e vedrete quanto il Signore è buono! Beato l’uomo che confida in lui.

Oh taste and see that Jehovah is good: Blessed is the man that taketh refuge in him.

9 T emete il Signore, o voi che gli siete consacrati, poiché nulla viene a mancare a quelli che lo temono.

Oh fear Jehovah, ye his saints; For there is no want to them that fear him.

10 I leoncelli soffrono penuria e fame, ma nessun bene manca a quelli che cercano il Signore.

The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger; But they that seek Jehovah shall not want any good thing.

11 V enite, figlioli, ascoltatemi; io v’insegnerò il timore del Signore.

Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of Jehovah.

12 C hi è l’uomo che desidera la vita e che brama lunghi giorni per poter gioire del bene?

What man is he that desireth life, And loveth many days, that he may see good?

13 T rattieni la tua lingua dal male e le tue labbra da parole bugiarde.

Keep thy tongue from evil, And thy lips from speaking guile.

14 A llontànati dal male e fa’ il bene; cerca la pace e adoperati per essa.

Depart from evil, and do good; Seek peace, and pursue it.

15 G li occhi del Signore sono sui giusti e i suoi orecchi sono attenti al loro grido.

The eyes of Jehovah are toward the righteous, And his ears are open unto their cry.

16 I l volto del Signore è contro quelli che fanno il male per cancellare dalla terra il loro ricordo.

The face of Jehovah is against them that do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

17 I giusti gridano e il Signore li ascolta; li libera da tutte le loro disgrazie.

The righteous cried, and Jehovah heard, And delivered them out of all their troubles.

18 I l Signore è vicino a quelli che hanno il cuore afflitto, salva gli umili di spirito.

Jehovah is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, And saveth such as are of a contrite spirit.

19 M olte sono le afflizioni del giusto, ma il Signore lo libera da tutte.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous; But Jehovah delivereth him out of them all.

20 E gli preserva tutte le sue ossa; non se ne spezza neanche uno.

He keepeth all his bones: Not one of them is broken.

21 L a malvagità farà perire il malvagio, quelli che odiano il giusto saranno considerati colpevoli.

Evil shall slay the wicked; And they that hate the righteous shall be condemned.

22 I l Signore riscatta la vita dei suoi servi, nessuno di quelli che confidano in lui sarà considerato colpevole.

Jehovah redeemeth the soul of his servants; And none of them that take refuge in him shall be condemned.
